I have a character (warforged), that has gotten a speciel feature. To give a headbutt. It was ment to be something fun/favourable. It's just about how to make it work. So I thought I would go here, and see if I/us could get some help with how we should make the mechanics. I'm thinking the DC is: 8 + Strength modifier + proficiency bonus. But what should be the save? Con seems to make the most sense for me What should be the effect? Stunned How much damage? Number of uses? Maybe proficiency bonus. And it resets on long rest? Is it and action. Does it just replace one of my attacks (when I get a second attack), if I use the attack action? Is it an bonus action?
I'm thinking constructs, undead, elementals and plants are immune to the effect
Stunned is the most powerful condition in the game, so if the idea is to be fun/favourful you'd have to severely limit the uses (i.e. 1/day) if the condition it grants is "stunned". Alternatives would be to knock the target prone, push it away from you, cause it to lose one reaction, or impose DA on its next attack.
It also depends how much do you want to use it? If you want to use it all the time, it has to be comparable to a normal weapon attack in terms of power - generally 1d8 + STR damage + a condition comparable to a weapon mastery, if you want to use it 1/short rest or STR-bonus times per long rest it can be a bit more powerful.
I haven't looked at the 2024 conditions. But I also thought of prone. I just recalled there was a dazed condition. So either that has been changed/removed, or I remember wrong. I did think of prone. Then it should probaly be limited to 1 size bigger? If I can even headbutt something taller. Yea disadvantage on it's next attack(s), save, and/or concentration roll could work
Headbutt. Melee Weapon Attack. 1d8+STR damage on a hit, and the target must make a Constitution saving throw or have disadvantage on the next d20 Test it makes if it is no more than one size larger than you, if the target is at least one size smaller than you it is automatically knocked prone when hit by this attack.
You can safely use this ability a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier per short rest, and no more than once per round. If you exceed either of these limitations you take 1 point of Exhaustion each time you do so as you suffer a concussion yourself.

Dazed was never in 5e, except for maybe in an unearthed arcana that I never saw. Think it was in 3.5e though.
Ok here's a suggestion:
