So I was thinking about trying to add comeliness just for flavor and maybe a few bonuses but I am not having much luck in finding or coming up with any ideas on how to do it in 5E.
Any suggestions?

My first suggestion is to not even bother. Making looks a stat usually only goes one of three places:
A few players care about having statistical proof that their character is good looking. COM becomes something of a primary or secondary stat for them and they insufferably try to use their characters sex appeal for all kinds of social rolls.
Most of your players won't care. COM will become a dump stat for everyone but the people in the first bullet point. These players will find those players insufferable.
Some players won't have enough good stats to go around and still make their character looks as cool as they think they should. These players will be sad because they want to look cool and attractive but they need their stats elsewhere so COM becomes a middling-to-dump stat for them and they gaze longingly over to the players who needed less intensive stats for their class that had spare room to make themselves statistically pretty.
Also you sort of need some sort of idea of what is going to be mechanically linked to COM.
Does it need a save proficiency? What does that mean?
Does it add or detract from combat in some way that the other social skills do not already cover?
Is it more than a one-note "Look, I'm hot!" in social interactions? It's a base stat, so what skills would go with it? Think like two or three options that would need proficiency.
What are the consequences, if any, of having a low COM score with a negative modifier.
So yeah....these are some of your challenges.

Super late to the party on this discussion but I have also considered using comeliness in my homebrew campaign (because my players all get flirty and the stat is a fun way to let them explore}. I didn't want it to be a simple dump stat as Metamongoose pointed out that it historically has. I did some looking online and found a fairly comprehensive homebrew rule someone else has made for comeliness and wanted to share it here.

Maybe this works for y'all or maybe it still proves to be a dump stat or a problem.
