(Apologies, I posted this in the wrong section elsewhere, I think.)
Hey folks,
So I'm putting the final touches on my homebrew dragonborn variant, but I'm having a problem getting the breath weapon to display correctly.
Here are the problems I'm encountering:
1> Deciding whether to set it as a General, Weapon, or Spell type action. (They all work, but I figure it needs to be Spell for the DC aspect to work)
2> Figuring out how to set it to have a save DC displayed in the HIT/DC section of the attack block on the character sheet (it insists on just displaying the + to hit from the stat it's based on.)
3> How to properly spec the 8 + Con Modifier + Proficiency Modifier saving throw DC.
4> How to force it to just display the damage as 2d6 (at 1st), rather than 2d6+ ability modifier.
When you go to create a new bit of homebrew you can select to create a copy! There should appear a drop-down box (pictured below) which will let you base your piece off of something else. It's great as a reference tool for mechanics. :)
Hey, wanting to do something similar with Pseudodragon. How do I do it in the Action box? Yes, I am aware I am replying to something a few months away from being 6 years old, but it was my best bet.

You can copy Monsters the same way that you copy spells. Just select "Pseudodragon". I will say, however, that some of the items don't show up, even though it's the main meat of the feature/creature/whatever.

Any help?
Hi ScorpioSymbol!
When I'm trying to sort out a way to recreate a feature that is similar to an existing one, I just make a copy of that item (in this case, Dragonborn) and take a look at how it was done for the official version. This is how the breath weapon is coded there, which should help you solve your problem.
Hope that helps!
Hey Thanks! That worked great. How do you copy an existing feature to see the mechanical underpinnings?

"Not all those who wander are lost"
Thanks everything came out beautifully :)
