Starting up a new campaign, one of the players wanted to play a tabaxi sorcerer (wild magic). They came up with the campaign idea that the cat lord blesses a few tabaxi with magic, marking them with distinct fur patterns at birth. I want to reward this player's efforts and ideas, and create a sorcerer spell for them to use. This would be a bonus spell; it doesn't count against their known spells, and I'm looking at making it second level.
The concept for the spell is, what are cats good at?
landing on their feet
having nine lives
balance and nimble
So with that, here's my first draft:
Cat Lord's Blessing
Level 2nd (transmutation)
Casting Time 1 reaction, which you take when you or a creature within 60 feet of you falls, fails a Dexterity saving throw, or fails a Dexterity ability check.
Range: 60 ft
Components: V
Duration: Instantaneous
You imbue a creature with the Cat Lord's blessing, allowing them to escape danger. The creature can reroll the saving throw or ability check, and must take use the new roll. If the triggering effect allows the target to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails. If the target is falling, it doesn't take damage from falling 60 feet or less if it isn't incapacitated.
So the intent that this is a single target, shorter duration version of Feather Fall combined with Enhance Ability. I wanted to add the Evasion ability of the rogue as well, in order to boost the spell's power, since it otherwise would be weaker than a 2nd-level spell.
What are peoples' thoughts? Does the wording of the spell read well/make sense? How does the balance feel for this? Any comments/suggestions?
You could also make another spell for black-furred tabaxi replicating the misfortune of a black cat. Something that marks a creature and would make it more likely for them to fail rolls for a little while.

In other words, Bane or Bestow Curse?

You're right, that has already been made. I guess I didn't think that through.
