Hello, I am a fairly new DM with a campaign idea I wanted some advice on. I'll give a synopsis of my overall idea.
Players work for the kingdom as special forces soldiers who handle hard missions. A cult is causing trouble in the city performing rituals.
Players have to find out who they worship. Once they learn their plan is to summon an elder God they seek out how to stop them by speaking to am ancient druid society.
They discover they need an ancient tomb to perform a ritual to travel to another plane and kill the 4 great Lord's who are trying to break the seal holding the God. Players are actually tricked because the 4 Lord's are actually living seals holding him in.
An avatar of the dead God is brought through the material plane and the players must seek an ancient weapon to destroy him. It will be a reskin of Tiamat. I expect the party to have some good gear by the end.
Items im considering they'd have: Axe of Dwarvish Lords, Belt of Stone Giant Strength, Cloak of Displacement, Some Rings of Protection, + 2 Adamantine Plate, Dwarven Thrower, Defender Greatsword, Horn of Valhalla are the main items. They like to feel very Superhero-ish in games so i wanted them to be able to have some epic gear and i figured it would even things out against a CR 30 Tiamat
So now that that's the general guidelines I just had some questions from experienced people.
1: does it seem interesting
2: does chasing down the 4 seals and ancient weapon seem to repetitive? I don't want it to seem like just a bunch of fetch quests.
3: this game will go to 20th level so I plan on it being fairly epic towards the end, so any advice on high level play is appreciated
P.S. It will be 4 players who should be 20th level by the end of it. A Paladin, Cleric, Rogue, Warlock Hexblade
