So I am thinking of adding a rule to my home-brew game that automatically grants the subclass spells for Warlocks and Sorcerers as known spells to their lists. Thoughts on what this does or does not cause from a balance perspective?
My first thought is the designers chose not to do that for a reason. Clerics DO get that with their subclass spells, so they surely considered it for Warlocks and Sorcerers.
Though honestly, I’m not sure why that wasn’t done like for clerics. If it doesn’t count against the spells known, as for clerics it doesn’t count against spells prepared, I’m not sure what the difference is.
For the Locks I do not see a issue with it. For soc I can see 2 issues. 1) I do not think all the soc sub get it so would would need to add to keep the balance. 2) Divine Soul add the whole clerics spell list and that would be OP.

I've just never been able to understand why Warlocks and Sorcerers get SO FEW SPELLS. Like I am fine with them getting less than Wizards but in comparison to many of the other classes, they seriously are neutered on this area.

Fair point about Sorcerers. It works well to thematically buff the Warlock spell list with their patron specific spells. I'll have to come up with a different way to balance Sorcerers...
