Is this even possible within the D&D Beyond sandbox? I have an entire list of "exotic" weapons I want to make available to my players.
Weapon Properties
Exotic. These weapons are not magical, yet because of their level of craftsmanship, they typically cost ten times that of their regular counterparts, are uncommon in their rarity, and all have the “special” tag associated with them. Additionally, these weapons are more difficult to use, requiring proficiency else disadvantage is given to attack rolls as well as not applying damage bonuses.
Feats
Exotic Weapon Master
You have practiced extensively with a specific exotic weapon, gaining the following benefits:
Increase your Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
You gain proficiency with one exotic weapon of your choice. Proficiency adds +1 to hit, and +2 damage
There's currently no way to create new basic weapons or to add custom weapon properties to Homebrew; basic weapons will hopefully be added eventually as part of the homebrew overhaul (whenever that becomes available), but I don't know if properties or custom tags will be included or not.
You could probably implement some of these as magic items, but personally I'd just try to boil it down to things that players can customise onto basic weapons; for example Shurikens are easily covered by just renaming Dart, and you could maybe having a specific version of your Exotic Weapon feat for "shurikens" (proficiency darts, +1 DEX, can throw two per attack as a note/special action).
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
