I'm working on a homebrew subclass for which I could use some technical advice. At level 1, I want the player to pick proficiency with a martial weapon that lacks the Heavy, Two-Handed, and/or Special properties. I.e., I want them to be able to pick a one-handed martial weapon.
I know how to do this by constructing a list myself with all the eligible options, but I'd rather be able to set the option using the "Choose a Martial Weapon" modifier in the homebrew builder and have that filter out any options that have those properties. That way it would be "future proof" if new base items are added that would be eligible.
Anyone know of a way to do this, or am I just going to have to construct a list for each eligible base item?

You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.
I don't believe I've ever found a way to exclude categories in that fashion, so constructing a custom list for the weapons you want to allow is likely your best bet, as well as allowing you more control over inclusion/exclusion of versatile and ranged weapons. By that coin, here might be a way to do the reverse and only include the light, versatile, etc properties in the proficiency, but I still think you'd have to do it one category at a time, based on my current (albeit limited) understanding of how the editor works.

Reading, Writing, Procrastinating, sometimes with clever snark and mythical creatures. Find me playing games at Quests & Chaos and Torpid Gaming Network, writing them at Itch, and yelling about them most other places.
All my info is at my Linktr.ee - hit me up to play, write, produce, or more!
Yeah, I just went ahead and made the list manually... only 11 options anyway.
It's weird... there's an option for choosing from the list of martial melee weapons, but that obviously includes all the ones that I don't want included. Then there's an option for choosing one-handed melee weapons, but that also includes simple weapons, and the Lance. Oh well!
