I want to make this work so bad, but I'm having some issues. I figure that each "head" can have different "mental" stats, Int, Wis, Cha. but have the same Body Stats. Their hps would be the additive of the two divided by 2 rounded down. Each arm can be controled by one head and they can as a Free action turn the "body" control over the the other head. Movement is 30, regardless of abilities to improve movement.
Race bonuses?
I know this is probably an absolutely crazy idea, but it has floated in my head for 30 years. If this has been done somewhere or hey any interesting stories behind it I would love to hear.
BTW, this is just for some fun chatter I hope it is taken as that :)
Different mental stats kind of make sense but you might run into issues where mature players will target the head with lower stats.
For hit points just leave it as one total. Much easier to manage especially since 5E does not have any "called shot" feats to target specific body parts. Most attacks will probably go to the main body or legs since this is a giant.
Since the standard creature gets muti-attack how about giving each head its own initiative (move, bonus, attack) but they would be limited to only physical attack with their action. The actual Ettin monster would get 2 attacks on its turn but doing this route they would be spaced out between 2 initiatives.
Movement would be limited to 40 feet a round (unless they use the dash action). If head 1 does not use all the movement, then on head's 2 turn they could use the rest of the unused movement but it must equal 40 feet. If the the Dash action was used by Head1 then head2 cannot move the ettin any more since all the movement was used.
Stats seem a little tricky since the monster has negatives to Dex, Int, and Chr. Maybe +2 Str and +2 Con but then give -2 Dex, -2 Int, -2 Chr.
You give use the monster abilities as racial traits.
Yes each head would certainly have a lower learning curve and well of wisdom. I would totally buy that. I will just wait for the april fools issue of unearthed arcana and see it there maybe!
