So I'm not entirely sure if this is the place for it or if it would have been better to post it in the DM only section but since this is more homebrew than advice, I'll put it here.
I've been thinking for quite a while now on possibilities and ideas on what each of the classes would look like if they all went beyond level 20. Obviously if anyone wants to run a Level 20+ campagin, they can just give the characters more ASIs that let them put points into stats up to a cap of 30 and can give them epic boons and stuff. Another way to do it would be to give them just 10 levels or even 20 levels in a second class of their choice. However both of these seem a bit meh to me. The epic boons are awesome but compared to stuff like actual class features, they feel a bit meh. The extra levels in a second class sounds real fun and exciting but it also feels a bit like a cop-out to me personally.
So here I am to regurgitate on to this thread the dumb shit I came up with for levels going from 20-30. Going up to level 30 and not 40 because CR30 is the biggest CR in 5th edition.
To start off, every class is going to get HP increases based on their class hit die and CON mod. Tough and other feats that scale with level will also scale to level 30. I will however cap out any class features that scale with level at level 20. So stuff like Arcane Recovery, Durid Wild Shape, Paladin Lay on Hands etc. do not scale with level past level 20 unless there is a different level 20+ feature that states otherwise. Because the abilities are mostly random ideas at their core, I may lump classes together with some general abilities all classes get at specified levels.
General Features:
These are features that all classes get at specified levels:
Level 21 - Godly Resistance (1/LR): This is basically Legendary Resistance with a name change. Instead of being a times per day thing, it resets on Long Rest
Level 23 - Godly Excellence: Proficiency bonus is now +7. Choose a single stat. You are now proficient in saving throws relating to that stat.
Levels 24 and 28 - Superior ASI: ASI but it goes up to 30 instead of 20 in any stat. Can take a feat or epic boon instead of ASI.
Level 25: All characters get a choice here. They can take whichever one of the two features listed below that they like/feels fit:
Greater Extra Attack - Whenever they take the attack action, they can make one additional attack on top of the number of attacks they usually make.
Spellweave Liberation - When characters cast a spell as a Bonus Action, they are no longer limited to casting cantrips with their action. This effectively allows a spell caster to cast a spell as an action and another one as a bonus action. If a Concentration spell is cast this way, then the caster cannot cast another concentration spell that turn.
Level 26 - Godly Resilience: You are resistant to any two damage types of your choice. You are also immune to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from non-magical weapons.
Barbarian:
These are abilities that the Barbarian get:
Level 22 - Goldy Might : While Raging, get an extra +2 to damage rolls made with strength. You score a critical hit when you roll a nat19 or nat20 on your weapon attack roll.
Level 27 - Greater Brutal Critical: You roll one additional weapon damage die when determining extra damage for critical hit with melee attack
Level 29 - Godly Resistance (2/LR)
Level 30 - Unstoppable Might: Once per turn, you can do an additional 1d6+STR damage to a target you hit with a melee weapon attack. You must be raging to gain this benefit.
Haven't gotten to the other classes quite yet but will get there eventually.
