I have ran into instances where i want to play a pathfinder game, but the players want to stick with D&D. So I was thinking that there should be a way of converting something like Spelljammer, Pathfinder, et cetera, into 5th edition. I would like your response.
Ive done some rough work on converting spelljammer, planescape, 2e and 3e magic spells\items into 5e, admittedly ad-hoc. While there's probably never going to be an official conversion guide, there's bound to be unofficial help for your own personal games.
While DM's Guild only supports the two official settings, there are player conversions floating around the Internet for other D&D settings to bring them up to 5e.
As an example, I'm running Lost Mines of Phandelver in the Birthright setting using a mix of rules posted to www.birthright.net and some of my own tweaks.
If you keep one key thing in mind, it's not too hard: Keep it very simple.
A literal translation is a very involved process. Going with something that hits the spirit of the setting you want and minimizes the work will help you get up and rolling quick. Once you have characters you'll have ideas on which rules you need to work on next and can build from there. If you let your players know that you are doing it that way, they can cooperate and help vs expect everything to be done on day one.

DM's Guild prohibits anything except Forgotten Realms and Ravenloft when it comes to previous settings, I'm afraid.
⬐ If you thought I added value to the conversation, please let me know!
