Sounds interesting (although I didn't even know that throne of glass was a thing and probably won't read it so I don't care for spoilers, I'm open to new ideas). So here is my idea
Race: demi-fae half-elf (do you allow variants like say drow? Are they a thing in universe?)
Ability Score: Str 15 (16) Dex 12 Con 13 (14) Int 8 Wis 10 Cha 14 (16)
Class: Fighter (ideal subclass banneret if that is possible if not maybe a battle master)
Background: (looking at backgrounds the one I think fits the idea I have would be knight of the order specifically the knights of the unicorn, a group of bored nobles that out of boredom created an order but soon reality make them change their ways, but I don't know if that goes with the lore so if not maybe a soldier or mercenary background could work and then I'll work from there) Former knight of a fallen kingdom.

County or time period: sorry I don't know enough to make a decision right now
Okay so: Drow do exist sort of, but they won't be a playable race as they are 100% evil with no chance for redemption. Second, Banneret should work, as you are a demi-Fae the way it runs should be good.
If you read this it includes a basic geography of the land if you are curious and want to know where to be from. Knights of the Unicorn could work, are you an ex-knight who left the order? I think that could end up working.
Keep in mind that demi-Fae are a bit of outcasts just like half-elfs. Most Fae consider them weaker and therefore useless, and most humans shun them for being Fae. Although, there are a few locations in Wendlyn where the queen of the Fae, Maeve, gave the demi-Fae a stronghold to live in to see if they would ever be 'worthy' of entering her city, Doranelle. (Hint, unless they had lots of magic they never were.) Notably, one of these places is Mistward. Alternatively, Terrasen was fairly welcoming to demi-Fae, or at least the court was.
Thanks for the answer and info I'll be reading that and update the concept.
Just to be completely clear, I understand that drow are irredeemable evil that's OK. However is there any issues if I still choose the half drow variant and call it anithing but drow mostly I wanted the fairy fire skill for the consent is a team player and giving advantage from a skill that works with Cha seem like a good idea but if not how about changing the skill versatility for a use of that skill times proficiency bonus or once per rest (probably long like the variant)

I will allow you to choose that. You can just say your demi-Fae powers come from a darker source than most Fae. So kind of a half-drow but not really a half-drow if that makes sense to you?

It does work for me, again I don't care about being a drow but it doesn't take to long to find the popular opinion that the banneret is a subpar option so the cha skill on the half drow that bring some party support work with the idea of a team support front line. But the concept of a goody two shoes drawing their power from a darker source is quite appealing.

Fae aren't naturally good, and Queen Maeve uses evil magic.

You're right. I was kind of thinking drow as the valg, which are an entirely different thing, but they can just be a different type of Fae as far as magic. Now that I think about it, Valg would probably be something else entirely.

They could. I don't really know what I'll do at this point but that's definitely a possibility. I'll probably just wait and see what works.
I'm going to leave recruitment open for another day or two, so if you guys can add in your backstories/ anything else you need to add, that would be great. Fingers crossed there's another applicant or two (especially someone who can heal) but if not, that's okay.
Also, I decided it's going to take place before magic fell because there's really nothing at all to work with about Brannon/Elena's time, especially for lower-level characters. Your characters will start in Wendlyn, so make sure to work that into your backstory. For a bit of insight for the non-TOG fans, Wendlyn is a continent that houses a multitude of races and is ruled by two rulers. King Glaston Ashryver rules the human kingdom, and Queen Maeve rules the Fae kingdom. You will start in Varese, King Glaston Ashryver's capital.

Now I need to think about how to not play a Rowan knockoff.
Backstory: will need help putting this together. If there is an assassin’s guild would be a good start. Or else they could be an agent of a government or kingdom training to eliminate high value targets.
Country you are from: If you mean me as a player I’m from the US. Not sure what the games countries are so might need some help with that also.

There's an organized group of assassins in Rifthold, but not one mentioned in Wendlyn.
You could be from Adarlan and be in the Rifthold assassin guild for whatever reason. As long as you have a reason to be in Wendlyn, which is another continent.

As an assassin, it could be for the same reason Celeana went.

Or they could cut ties with the guild or, magic is starting to be frowned on in Adarlan. A shape shifter... Would be unliked at best. Especially because shape shifters are very rare in the first place. Either works, or something different altogether.
Ok I’m a member of the guild. I have been sent out on my first mission. DM can give me deets on the target that will fit the campaign. Plan on a laying them as a lawful neutral follows orders type character. Could also be some in the guild sent me farther away due to distrust or possibly to protect me from those that would distrust me.

I will private message you when I think of one that fits the campaign well, along with other details about your guild.
I will leave recruitment open through today. Fingers crossed somebody else wants to join, but if not then we can roll with what we have and get things started. Have any of you ever ran/participated in a no-healer campaign? I have not, so pointers would be encouraged should no healer apply.

I have a weird sense of humor.
I also make maps.(That's a link)
