Another night falls. Nothing exciting happens, but people are very pleased to be nearing Waterdeep. One more day is all that is left on the road, with no village nearby. Losvius seeks Kettles out in the evening and reminds him about all the fun adventures they had over the many days of travel. He then quickly changes topic and asks about what Kettles hopes to do with the gold he will find. The Pole and Leda seek out Kosef and Rudneve for one last practice together. The Pole and Leda are a little sad they will be parting ways with the two of them, and the Pole expresses concern for their safety if they continue to travel with Ivor, especially alone. Leda is also troubled the murder was never found.
Kosef is sad to part with Leda and The Pole as well. If they have addresses, he will collect them. He listens to their safety concerns. "Thank you for thinking of us. We will continue to be wary. Usually, it is the enemies of my employers I have to watch out for, rather than the people I work for."
He's also still thinking about the murder. He will try to find a moment to talk to Rudneve and Kettles, disguising what he says with conversations about frog pies and beard oil. He says "The badger man is harmless, though polite. A good guy. Leda and The Pole, our allies, are leaving the caravan. That's worrisome." He rubs his beard. "The most likely murderer, because of the nature of the wounds, is Jemna. The short sword is her means. The night provided her opportunity." Kosef is trying to remember everything the Flaming Fist did when solving crimes (except for taking bribes, or course). "What could her motive have been?" He thinks. "What you you two think?"
"Kettles" thinks about Losvius' question. "I have no definitive plans. The quest for wealth is a beast with a mind of its own, right? But since you ask... I haven't always done the right thing. If I should become wealthy, I will spend my days seeking to share some coin with worthy causes, maybe fund an orphanage or donate to the holy mission of some church or other. I have some red ink in my past that I should like to balance out." Losvius is a bit reckless but he seems like he is without malice. He might be someone with a future. "You asked about where I learned my tricks. I will likely be gone into the north for some time... but if you are ever near Everlund, ask for Jenkins the Brown. Tell him you met me on the road... if he pretends to not remember me, just mention my mustache. If he thinks you're a good chap - and why wouldn't he - he just might teach you a few of the tricks he taught me. Just be sure not to do anything I woudn't do," he adds with a wink.
Kettles will share what he can with Kosef. "Jamna wouldn't surprise me. She seems to share our objective but not our means - she is ruthless. But there is more - Ivor has openly discussed recognizing Rudneve as an enemy with his men, and he said something interesting... that 'Kendes is as bad as his father.' Do you know what that means? Ivor's men weren't trying to deflect blame. They legitimately believe one of you three is the murderer. Things will get very dangerous if we are alone on the trail with them after Waterdeep."

Sir Rudneve too says farewell to The Pole and Leda, wishing them good luck. "Jamna, that little one who warned us about the oatmeal, no idea, the murder makes no sense to me, anyone who opposes the cult should wan't us to find Naerytar in order to strike at its heart."Sir Rudneve answers, not really following along with all this intriguing.
"That's true," Kosef says. "The oatmeal. Of course we will trust her after being warned that way, after we assumed Ivor and his cooks put them in our food." He thinks for a moment longer and grows grimmer. "The Flaming Fist? When someone reported a murder? Always investigated the person who reported the crime too. Maybe, similarly, we ought to see how Jemna knew those objects were in our food." He looks at the ground, a disappointed expression on his face, not happy to have to think of Jemna this way. "Kettles," he says, "Could your buddy Losvius look through her things? The things that belong to the cooks as well? Perhaps he will find more of those tiny circles of bone in one spot or the other."
OOC: No need for Kettles to make a roll. Losvius is willing to believe him.
Losvius looks a little bored by talk of holy orders and orphanages, but he gets excited when he hears about Jenkins the Brown. He scribbles the name down on a scrap of paper along with the word mustache. He thanks Kettles for this information and can't stop chattering about all the fun he plans to have with magical spying powers.
After all the goodbyes are said people go to sleep. The next day, nothing exciting happens. In the afternoon Waterdeep comes into view, and soon the travellers have arrived in the city. Ivor summons the group to him as they near the city, and says, "We'll be pausing here for a bit. Let's find an inn and rest for a few days. You can see some sights." The other travellers wander off in their separate ways.
Only having visited the city of splendors once before Sir Evendur is not really familiar with Waterdeep and stays close to any of the others who might be. During the visit he is really suspicious of the colossi all over the city, expecting them to come to life at any moment.
(Would Evendur know of any agents of the Order of the Gauntlet that he should report to while in Waterdeep?)
Kenny has passed through the city of splendors… but just passed through. He is certainly no tour guide.
For now he focuses on just tagging along with the remnants of Ivors wagon train and getting a room at the same hotel. Just… going along with the flow.

Evendur knows that in the central district of the city, called the Castle Ward, there is a hall dedicated to Tyr where he can find some members of the Order of the Gauntlet. He has heard that a Sir Marius Greenwell is in charge. He has possibly encountered Marius in the past, as Marius is fairly old and has been with the Order a long time.
Waterdeep is very large. The eight giant statues are sort of interesting, and there are many inns. A mixture of carriages run across the city, offering transport. Large ones with multiple stories seem to run constant routes while smaller ones move around and go towards people who call them over. There are temples to Oghma, Tempus, Tyr, and Mystra. Some griffins can be seen flying in the sky. There is also a large cemetery called the City of the Dead. It looks like a large park which has fallen into slight disrepair. There are also docks, and the ocean is always nice to look at.
Ivor chooses a small inn called the Singing Whale. He puts the horses in a stable, and then heads out to explore the city himself with his wool hat friend.
Jamna follows Kenny, not trying to hide from him at all.
When alone with Kosef, Kendes and that prospector Kenny Evendur suggests they would all stay at the Singing whale to keep an eye on Ivor and the treasures. He will then excuse himself and go visit Sir Marius Greenwell and offer to report on his mission so far and also suggesting that a report should be sent to Ontharr Frume in Elturel. He keeps getting excited as people are talking about dragons but also keeps getting disappointed when he realizes they are just talking about the city's minted gold coins.
Kosef finds a room at the Singing Whale. He is, as always, interested in improving his melee skills. He might go looking for a library that contains books on battle, especially if there is one close by. He will also write a long letter, updating his parents in Baldur's Gate. He'll ask them for tips on how the Flaming Fists solve crimes, besides taking bribes, of course.
After he has written his letter, he'll watch for Ivor and Jemna to see where they go in the city.
Noticing Jamna, Kenny drops back to speak with her. "This isn't my city. You wouldn't happen to know a place where a pair of weary travelers could grab a bite to eat and catch up on stories from the road without unwelcome ears listening?"
***
Assuming she does know somewhere and is willing, Kenny will order a coffee or tea (whatever is setting appropriate) and some toast or a bagel. He will offer to buy Jamna's if she allows. "I feel a bit silly at how long it took me to put the pieces together, but that guard was you, correct? Not that I am criticizing. I just feel a lot better with confirmation. It's one less thing to worry about."
"Speaking of worries, my little friend clued me in to a few more things. Our targets are either suspicious of, or have outright made my friends. At the same time, they show no signs of being on to either of us. I think it's likely they will make some sort of move against the others once we are back on the road, and the bulk of the caravan is no longer around to witness. I'm obligated to intervene if such a thing occurs... but you may want to put some contingency ideas together about how you are going to stay on this dragon's tail if the rest of us get our throats cut on the highway."
