"Depends on who ye' ask," Zyllith teased the shopkeeper, "Every pirate cap'n worth their salt claims ta' be tha best. 'Course fer my coin, I'd say tha' last cap'n I worked for, nev'a met a better sword hand than hers. A mighty half-orcen fury named Fjiera."
"Fjiera the mighty orc fury of the seas!" the shopkeeper repeats with an obvious sense of excitement. He obviously enjoyed hearing her story, as if a part of him lives vicariously through the adventures and exploits of his customers.
"I wish you the best of fortune with that blade, and I'm glad to see it fall into right hands. Do come back when you're needed another weapon, and be sure to send your adventuring companions in to see us here at Saern's Fine Swords!"

You continue walking east along the Waterdeep way, until it veers south and continues as The High Road. Winding your way through the throngs of people, merchant carts, food stalls and other street side going-on, you make your way south, all the while keeping your eyes and nose alert. You aren't having much luck in this area. You see a lot of business, taverns, general stores, food and provision markets, clothing and fabric shops, smiths, and various grocers, but no herbalist.
The further south you go down the High Road, you notice that the neighborhood becomes visibly poorer and dirtier. There is more mud and dustin the streets here, and the construction of the buildings appears to be much shoddier, and there are even more street merchants and caravans in this area.
At one point you hear a noise, and you look over and see a horse running up the street, while a rather well dressed man hurries behind it, calling out desperately for the animal to stop.
Belkas thanks Riatur and then heads off with Vernon down the streets of Waterdeep. When the paladin enters The Busy Hammer, Belkas continues towards the docks.
To Crowley, he thinks, "Fly above and keep your eyes open. Even though it's unlikely that the deep elves will be out in daylight, their agents could be anywhere, and there is always the risk of common thieves."
As he approaches the wharves, he smells salt and fish and hears the sound of gulls and the shouts of fishermen. He asks for directions to the leather worker's shop and finds his way to a small wooden building with an engraved hide over the door.
Belkas steps inside and lets his eyes adjust to the darkness. He calls out, "Good morning."
Heading down the Way of the Dragon, which cuts right through the South Ward and The Dock Ward, both of which appear to be much more lower class areas of Waterdeep; the Dock Ward, especially so. It's exceptionally dirty, smelly, and you can tell, probably a much more dangerous area to hang around after dark, or even during the day, for that matter, than the the much wealthier northern parts of the city.
The South ward seems similar, but rather than rough and tumble, it's more poor and lower class, filled with caravans, merchant carts and throngs of common folk who make their way along the dirty, mud filled streets and much older, often run down buildings.
Vernon has to ask a someone where to find Ovina's Smithy, but eventually, he finds her shop on a side street in the Adventure's Quarter, which is filled with, well... lots of adventurers. Entering the smithy, which is a mostly open air shop under a thick fabric awning, Vernon is greeted by a thick, dark haired dwarf woman who's working at the forge.
She greets him, "Well, ain't you a cute lil' fella! Welcome! What can I do for ye?"
----------
Belkas
Leaving Vernon behind at the smithy, Belkas continues even further south, and enters the Dock Ward at the very southern tip of the city. It's very dirty down here, and smelly, with a pungent blend of odors that include fish, the ocean, body odor, piss, vomit, stale beer and alcohol. You pass a number of taverns, like the Bloody Fist, the Copper Cup and the Sleeping Snake, as well as a couple of brothels, and of course, a number of fishmongers, trinket shops, guildhalls and other shops.
You don't need to ask directions; you just follow your nose. Being an incredibly odoriferous type of craft, leather working are often placed at the far corners of town and cities, simple because of the smell of animal hides, and the urine and sometimes feces that were used to clean and prepare the collegen in the hide for tanning.
Following the scent trail, you soon find the Telethon Leatherworks, right near the Fish Warehouse and and a place called the Smokehouse. Entering the tannery, you see that the places sells a variety of leather goods, armor, belts, scabbards, straps, suspenders and other adventuring gear.
The proprietor greets you and asks what you're looking for.
Arisa respectfully addresses the older cleric, telling him a short version of their journeys and experiences since her leaving Waterdeep, including the concerns about the Giants and the attacks on civilization. She asks for his advice in finding armor suitable for an ongoing struggle- pointing to her own badly battle scarred scale mail.
The older cleric listens to Arisa's account with great interest and concern. "That is quite alarming to hear that the giants and their armies of goblinoids are launching outward attacks on civilization. That does not bode well for anyone, no matter where they live. If they attacked Goldenfields so brutally, they could become emboldened and attack a city like Waterdeep."
"The Mistress of Magic would thank you for your service to protect others, as do we here at her church. I am glad to give you any help I can provide here. You will find suitable armor at The Halls of Hilmer, which is located on the Street of Bells in the Castle Ward."
"Please tell me, what else can I provide for you, and also, what can you tell me about your own journey with magic? What lore have you learned? Have you learned any new spells of late, or come across any signs or items that contain the old magic? And are there any promising souls who show potential for magic that you've come across in your recent travels?
"Finally, before you go, join me of the Plea of Guidance, my child." (A simple prayer that is known to all devotes of Mystra.) The cleric beckons you to kneel with him in front of the prominent candles on the altar, and recite together,
"Hallowed Lady, Mother Mystra, guide my thoughts now. Light my way Inform my deeds. Enlighten me, as you enlighten all. Show me what is best to do.
To deliver, succor, protect, and enrich Blessed be thy will I am [[state your name]], and place myself in thy hands Guide me"
Arisa describes the latest spells she has mastered, talks of her companions’ magical talents and the dragon who they’ve befriended, and then joins him in the prayer. She thanks him for the guidance and heads to the Halls of Hilmer.
"*Half* Orc Fury" Zyllith corrected the shopkeeper with a charming smile, "She's might particular 'bout tha' an' would 'ave me hide if'n I didnae point tha' out." She gave a quick wink as he held up her newly purchased rapier and continued, "I thank ye' fer yer fine service an' finer blade! Would tha' I could stay 'ere and recount more o' me tales, but I 'ave other business ta' attend to. Speakin' o' which, t'would mighty appreciate it if ye' can recommend any jewler's shoppe or tha' like where'd I can sell some variety o' loot gained on me adventures."
"Much appreciated, mate. 'Ave a lovely day!" Zyllith said with a bow before walking out of the store. She then replaced the sword and scabbard of her old rapier on her hip with the newly purchased one. A big smile on her lips as she enjoyed the fine weapon now on her side, even if it was, strictly speaking, more expensive then necessary, it was worth it for her.
With that taken care of, Zyllith began walking towards the Gem shop the shopkeeper suggested. As she walked she considered the old ruined rapier now in her hand. If she passed by any blacksmith or something she could check about possibly repairing the blade, or just sell it there for scrap metal, either way she wasn't particularly attached to the old blade. Otherwise it was well past time to convert some of the non-coin treasures the party had gathered into a more spendable currency.
Leaving the sword shop, Zyllith turns right and weaves her way through the throngs of travelers, merchants and street carts that fill The High Road. Turning left on Julthoon Street, she walks two blocks to Shield Street, turns right and stops a few doors just to the north, at #50, Halazar's Fine Gems." (Being the rather posh part of the city, she doesn't pass any blacksmiths along the way.)
The front of the shop glistens with a shiny, black facade, no doubt kept that way with magic. Above the door, gleams a single sparkling gem the size of a man's head.
Stepping inside, she sees a showing of finest gems one can find for sale, exquisitely cut and mounted, displayed in glass cases with severe simplicity and based on her experience, they all cost about four times what they'd fetch anywhere else. She's greeted by a tall, aristocratic, sneering man of soft words and watchful eyes.

Arisa
Leaving the temple, Arisa begins heading south along the wide Street of the Singing Dragon, which leads down through the western side of the city. She walks through the rather affluent neighborhoods of Waterdeep's wealthy Sea Ward, past fancy villas and temple, and eventually, she passes into the central area of the city, known as the Castle Ward. She knows that this area encompasses the heart and soul of Waterdeep. It contains the city’s military forces, courts, government and the largest market square of any northern city. You won’t find many residences here, as many businesses, city guard barracks and government buildings are here.
Walking along the bluff at the very western side of the city, she passes Piegeiron's Palace, (The man government Palace of the city,) which sits in an impressive view at the base of Mount Waterdeep, and then veers east on Waterdeep Way.
Suddenly, a trio of interesting-looking individuals - adventurers perhaps - blinks into view right in front of you out of nowhere; an old mountain dwarf with a bald head a round face, rough skin, a massive build and an an axe strapped to his back, a middle aged female half elf with short straight brown hair, a piercing in the middle of her forehead, and a lute that's slung around her shoulder, and a young human male with a bald head, very dark skin, (perhaps Caleshite), and the symbol of a cloud on his chest. (Arisa would know that this is the symbol of Aka, the Goddess of air, movement and speed.
All three look around, surprised and quite confused, and then the young man looks at you and stammers, “What... where are we?”
Inside Halazar's Fine Gems, Zyllith looked at the gem shop man up and down a few times first. Clearly not the sort of person that she would socialize with if she could help it, but easy enough to talk to when it came to business.
"Good day, luv." Zyllith began with her charming smile, "This place come highly recommended ta' me and me kind. Reckon ye' receive many an adventurer whot selling ye' many fine precious loot fer ye ta make a fine profit on. Me bein' a representative of just such adventurin' folk, I 'ave plenty o' merchandise I hope ye might wish ta' purchase."
Zyllith offers the man a cheerful nod as she begins to retrieve the various gems and precious items that they had gathered, laying it all out for him to appraise.
(( Here's the full list of sellable valuables we've collected in the group loot and stated estimated prices we have for reference )) :
Two medium sized, polished jade gemstones ~100 gp 14 random gems ~10gp ea. (140gp total) 15 precious stones, ~10gp ea, comprising of Hematite, Lapis, blue striped Banded Agate and Azurate (150gp total) A gold ring set with bloodstones, a brass mug with jade inlay, and a large gold bracelet ~250 gp ea (750 gp total) two gold bracelets, a silver necklace, a silver ring ~25gp ea. (75gp total) four pieces of white quartz, an opaque bloodstone with red flecks, a piece of sardonyx with bands of red and white, and another unknown gemstone ~50 gp each (350 gp total)
The man watches Zyllith unload the pile of gems, jewelry and precious stones from her bag. A wide eyed look crosses his face, but he quickly tamps down his expression. "That's quite a take. Now, let's have a look and see what you have here..."
The man produces a clean, completely lint-free piece of dark blue velvet, and carefully arranges each of the pieces out on the cloth. I carefully scrutinizes each piece with his magnifying eyepiece, which he holds in his left hand.
Then, after going through all of the pieces, he remains quiet for a minute, while obviously making mental notes in his head, and then speaks once again.
"There are some fine pieces here. I'll give you twelve hundred and fifty dragons for all of it."
Arisa tries to stay calm and composed at the sight of the magical- appearing strangers, and as calmly as she can, says “Well- you are in Waterdeep, more specifically next to Piegeiron's Palace. I’m Arisa. Nice to meet you.. welcome to Waterdeep.”
The dwarf grumbles with an expression of total surprise. "Waterdeep??!!!! Noooooo!!!!!"
The half elf woman with the lute says, "We must have activated a teleportation spell somehow."
"But I was just about to lay me hands on it!!" Now we're a thousand miles away."
The young human man replies. "Well, not quite a thousand. More like five hundred and fifty, if I remember from the ma..."
"Shut up, Kelmore... five hundred ain't no difference. We might as well be ten thousand miles away"
The half elf woman turns to Arisa and says, "Pardon these two.. they do bicker a lot, but to be fair, we had traveled an awful long way to find it, and now it's totally out of our grasp."
"Hello Arisa, I am Eileena. This is Adrik (The dwarf) and Devyn. *sign* I guess that's the end of THAT adventure. I guess we could use a drink. Do you know of a good tavern nearby?"
“Oh my! So a teleportation trap of some sort.. well, there’s certainly worse places you could have landed than here, I suppose.. “she thinks a moment on nearby taverns..
“Well- my companions and I are staying at the Blue Ewe- they would love to hear your tales… it’s a friendly place for adventurers and good entertainment.”
Arisa continues. “Nice to meet you, anyway. I hope you enjoy waterdeep. If you’d like I can show you around some, if you’ve not been before- I was just on my way to see about some armor, but happy to show you around after that.”
