Quietly opening the door and moving inside, you find yourselves inside the entryway in what appears to be a small two story house. Upon initial glance, there is nobody in this part of the residence, and you don't see any sign of the amulet or of Ferghus.
Siobhan slips in behind Zyllith and stretches one hand out, concentrating. She channels her innate firbolg magic to see the play of ethereal energy as she casts Detect Magic. If this amulet is within 30 feet and not locked within a metal box, she should be able to sense it. Siobhan carefully walks through the house, mindful that she has ten minutes to see magical auras.
Belkas hangs back, ready to provide firepower should they be discovered. Zyllith slides forward, silent and deadly, and Siobhan murmurs a few words and then seems to be looking around at things no one else can see. Belkas slowly moves to follow, leaving a fair distance. He does not want to mess things up by steeping on a creaky floorboard a warning everyone in the house that they are here. He asks Crowley to fly ahead upstairs quietly and invisibly. Belkas wonders how many bodies lying around will attract unwanted attention from the powers that be in Waterdeep. He is still uncomfortably aware of the muggers he killed on the city's southern side. Once his armor is ready, it might be a good time to go out hunting giants again. At least in the wilderness, you can see when you are being stalked.
As Belkas, Siobhan, Zyllith and Crowley search the house, which contains two rooms downstairs, a sitting room and a dining room, and two rooms upstairs, a bedroom and a study. Unfortunately, they discover that Ferghus is apparently not at home. Nor do they find the amulet, but Siobhan's firbolg magic allows her to find what appears to be a spell scroll, although she cannot read the nature of the magic that's written on the parchment. In addition, Zyllith finds a locked chest upstairs in the study.
Zylllith will check the locked chest for traps, attempting to disarm any if necessary, then once it's safe she'll attempt to unlock the chest to see what's inside.
(( Here's two back to back thieves tools checks if needed: 28, 16 ))
Zyllith carefully inspects the chest, and indeed finds, a poison needle trap that would have triggered had she tried to open the lock. Using her tools once again, she makes the intricate motions and is able to successfully disarm it.
Need one more Thieves tool check to pick the lock.
Belkas frowns to himself. The man seems to have escaped them. This whole place could be a trap, and the City Guards could be on the way or whatever shady friends this man kept.
To the imp, he thinks, 'Crowley, sorry for all the back and forth, but could you go back outside and let me know if anyone approaches the house? Especially if they look armed and dangerous. I don't like this disappearance trick at all.'
As Zyllith disarms the chest, Belkas searches through the study and, if there is time, the bedroom. He is not looking for valuables as much as papers or items that could identify and incriminate the man they were following. There is, he muses, more than one way to skin a duck.
"Bloody 'ells tha's a rioght nasty trick ta place there." Zyllith comments as she finishes disarming the trap before moving on to opening the lock, "Bloody good news too, don' usually trap a chest if'n there were'nae anything good!"
Siobhan concentrates on the scroll. Even if she cannot read it, she should be able to sense the school of magic emanating from it. She distantly notes the actions of her companions and wonders if they will be preparing an ambush for their prey in his den. With that in mind, she slips into her wolf form and scents the air. Does the prey’s scent lingers as if this is his home?

(detect magic shows school of magic; can continue concentrating since wild shape is not concentratin)
Finishing her work with the lock, Zyllith hears that magic "click" and then open the chest. Looking inside, she finds a total of 240sp, 120gp, 8 bloodstone gems, you figure are worth about 50 gp each, and a vial full of yellow fluid that's streaked with swirling flecks of black.
Using her arcane sense, Siobhan can deduce that there are two different types of magic emanating from the scroll, one that she can identify from the school of Enchantment, and one from the school of Necromancy. As she slips back into wolf form, she can faintly smell the scent of the man she followed, but only as a residual smell within the confines of this house.
As Crowly heads back outside to keep watch, Belkas searches the home, and finds a document that outlines the terms of a loan from someone named Istrid in the amount of 1,000gp. The amount of interest on the loan is 10 percent per ten-day.
"Well shite, twas hopin' we'd find tha' trinket 'ere, but I'll be takin' tha' coin instead." Zyllith said as she took all the contents of the chest. "Sad ta' say but seems we lost our man. Would'nae do us well ta' keep chasing when we 'ave no way to go. Best we head back fer now, rather than linger and possibly gain unwanted attention." She recommends as she begins heading out of the house.
Belkas looks over the loan document. He doesn't know who Istrid is, but the loan is for a considerable amount of gold, and the interest rate seems brutally high. It is the kind of agreement only a foolish or desperate man would sign. Belkas carefully rolls up the papers and places them into one of the pockets of his cloak. Someone else will know if it is useful or not.
He hears Zyllith's exclamation of frustration and moves to her side of the room. At her mention of leaving, he nods and says, "Agreed. We can find the man again another day now we know where he lives. I also found another name on a document that might lead us to him."
As he starts to go downstairs, Belkas thinks to Crowley, 'Hey Crowley! Any movement out in the streets or suspicious types watching the house?'
Before she leaves, Siobhan grabs the scroll and drops it in front of Zyllith. A dog carrying a scroll would draw attention and that is not something they need. She is a bit disappointed, though. Hunting is often full of more failures than successes but she was looking forward at cornering their prey and getting what Arisa needed.
Crowley doesn't report anything suspicious, so the three of you exit the house, taking the scroll, the loan document and the items from the chest, and head back into the streets of Waterdeep. About a 40-50 minute walk north, back across the city, you find yourselves back at the Blue Ewe, with Arisa and Vernon.
As Belkas walks into the blue Ewe, he hears the current troubadour reciting:
"One day I was out
with nothing to do.
And the wind came up
and blew me to you.
My heart, it did leap,
to the sky, it flew
because ..."
The man whirls around and points at Belkas, Zyllith, and Siobhan at the entrance and continues:
"You bought me a pint
in the old Blue Ewe."
The small but highly intoxicated audience cheers, and some start pounding on their tables, "Buy him a pint. Buy him a pint."
Belkas smiles uncomfortably at the sudden attention and ducks his head down. He walks over to the table where Arisa, Vernon, and Elion are sitting and says, "It's good to see you."
"Yea, We're back from a bit o' shoppin'." Zyllith greets the others cheerfully as she takes a seat at the table along with the others, turning to Arisa as she adds, "Sorry luv, we did'nae manage ta' get yer amulet this time. But we did find a few other lovely trinkets in tha' meanwhile. Plus a possible lead were ye' interested in pursuin' this amulet of yers further."
“Ohh! Well thanks for looking, That guy was always a bit… shady. I truly wonder who he wanted it for. I hope nothing to nefarious. Meanwhile, I remembered we are also supposed to be following up on a lead with regard to the Giants. Maybe tomorrow morning we can search that out. But tonight, I owe you all pint and this one- I guess a steak? “. She smiles while petting Siobhan.
Reunited with each other at the Blue Ewe, you enjoy the entertainment, food and drink throughout the rest of the evening, and finally retire for the night in the comfortable accommodations you've been keeping for the past week.
After a night of good sleep, you wake feeling refreshed and ready for another day in Waterdeep.

While trying to remain quiet, Zyllith begins searching the house for either the amulet or Ferghus.
