"Locked huh?" Vaden asks as he also approaches the chest, and performs his own investigation. (Investigation roll done in previous post.) He pulls out his magical dagger and strikes the lock, as he has already learned that no one in this group seems capable of picking locks.
Dagger of warning to hit: 18 Damage: 6 Magical piercing.
The blade misses the lock completely, stabbing into the side of the chest instead. With a frown he tries again...

With a few more strikes you bust the lock off and are able to look inside the chest.
It contains 2, 384 copper, 746 silver, 279 electrum, 428 gold, 183 platinum, a sword, an embroidered bag, and an ointment jar.
(You can all advance to level 4 now.)

"Let's hold off on passing things out until we know what everything is." Vaden suggests. "No reason to get too worried until we know what is magical, and what is not." He glances to Evre as she starts to cast a ritual spell. "Evre is about to tell us if any of it is magical. If it is, then I can take some time to learn what they do. From there we can learn what would be best used by whom."
"I think I have a good division for the gold. Everyone gets a seventh, but he," he motions to Horxik, "Came late, so he only gets a fourteenth. Alternatively, we can divide it equally so this doesn't become a war."

"We should divide everything equally." Vaden says with a glance around. "Everyone here is helping now, so everyone should get an equal share. The magic items, if they are magical, are a different issue, as we cannot easily split them. Let us figure out what any magical item does prior to people making grabs for them, ok?"

Evre says, these items seem magical“the sword glows with Transmutation magic, the embroidered bag with Conjuration magic, and the ointment jar with Abjuration magic.”
She will inspect the bag, taking the end of a torch and poking it in gently first— is it bigger on the inside than it appears? If not, and the torch appears undamaged, she will reach into the bag to see if anything is inside…
”I don’t know much about swords, but I do know about some varieties of magical bags, and maybe can figure these items out given time..”
As the rest of the arcane group checks out the items, Horxik begins to tend to his menagerie and pat down his animals. If the group offers him a magic item, he will take it, but he won't otherwise impose.
