Life is very busy unfortunately, gone from most Pbp's indefinitely. If you'd like to contact me, I am on Discord at GreatAxeblade#7595, always happy to chat :)

You remember the bar wench saying something about them following some old map and heading north into the hills, but that was days ago.
"Pardon my lord, but if you're planning on catching up to them maybe Dera would like her horse? It's been waiting in the stables and could use the exercise." She follows you outside and offers to show you to the stables and Dera's horse.

Horxik nods gratefully and follows the woman to the stables. When she shows him the horse, he extends a hand outwards and thanks her sincerely, "I appreciate your help." He flips her one gold piece and adds, "For your troubles." With a horse, a direction, and a goal, Horxik sets out north into the hills attempting to follow the path of the group that had headed up there earlier.
Vaden skewers the last claw facing him on his dagger, much like a shish kabob.
(Evre is up. Only 1 claw remains.)

You ride north into the foothills. The trail is easy enough to follow during the 1st day but you realize without a trail or map to follow it will be much more difficult tomorrow.
(Do you want to try a Forced March? You could gain hours of time in your favor but the horse might suffer some levels of exhaustion.)

You are able to push the horse for another hour. By your reckoning you have gained about 6 miles on the adventuring group.
Near the beginning of those extra miles you come across several wolf carcasses, hard to miss with the smell, which is what lead the horse to them. Continuing on and near the end of the 6 miles you notice it getting really dark... really fast...
(want to try for another hour?)

In the near dark, it is a miracle the horse doesn't stumble, and the land rushes by as you eat up miles like candy. You must have gained half a day on them by now.
Near the end of this hour the darkness begins to thicken. You would think it's something unnatural if it was localized but this seems to be happening everywhere at once... and suddenly the stars are winking out as the night sky becomes a black veil of darkness.
The horse whinnies and stops dead in it's tracks, not being able to see.
(if you want to try and convince the horse to continue make a Animal Handling check, otherwise you can camp for the night... if you can find somewhere that is, Survival check)
(please make only 1 roll and describe what exactly you are doing to pursue that course of action as it might positively or negatively affect any rolls to determine the outcome.)

Horxik seems ready to continue, but as the darkness becomes oppressive, and it becomes difficult to see, the half-elf decides that it would be safer to just camp for the night. It might be difficult to see for another person, but Horxik lights one of his candles to give him a little bit better vision and attempts to find a place to camp.
You light the candle and it emits no light. You almost think it went out but you can sense the little heat it provides when you put your hand near it.
This darkness is becoming all consuming and the horse whinnies a few times but since you're not panicking it doesn't bolt. You lead the horse forward carefully as you search out a suitable campsite.
(History check to remember anything about this strange darkness.)

As the darkness begins to lift or fade, at least this sudden thickness of it, you see a half-elf leading a horse and they are approaching you and the entrance.

Horxik does a quick glance around the road. If there are no witnesses, he will continue to push the horse onwards and faster.

Horxik has no problems seeing in the dark (darkvision 60ft), so if he can still see, he will continue to push the horse onwards.
