“I can’t wait to see it my friend,” says Brock nodding his head to the Kallandra’s story.
“Glad you found what you wanted to do last, many people spend most of their lives trying to figure that out. Glad to have you on the team,” he says to Ichika
“And you,” Brock’s says pointing his mug at Yashin with a look of disappointment. “I told you all my stories are true… just a little embellished,” he says with a roaring laugh.
“Speaking of fine music,” he says pulling out his lute. Going to the corner to speak with the band. After a few minutes of discussion Brock joins them and begins to play a song.
Ichika watched Brock's performance with fascination as she propped her chin up, blinked in reaction and joined in the applause with a smile. She glanced at the woman approaching them and nudged Yashin with her elbow. "She's talking to you."
Yashin enjoys Brock’s performance and laughs with the others before hearing Ichika’s remark and turning to the newcomer. “Welcome, pull up a chair” he gestures to the blonde woman with a smile “we are just enjoying some drink and song. The more the merrier. We are stopping for a short time before continuing on to the south. What brings you to the inn?”
He glances back at the table with the two clerics “Who are your friends?”
Kallandra eyes the woman who joined them then apparently dismisses her returning to her book. Pulling out her wand she appears to cast a spell on the tome. After it takes affect, she eyes the woman and the men she 'left', to see if anything stands out. She's prepared for the likely huge amount of magic in the room.
Kallandra There is a lot of magic in this chamber. The two clerics have some magical items on them, a few looking fairly powerful, on par with some that your own group carry with them. The blond though has only the magical dagger and a magical pouch. Both of minor magical strength. (Not going to go into what might be in the rest of the area, fair to say there is a lot of magic in this room.)
The blond smiles at Yashin, taking a seat next to him. "Those two?" She asks, glancing back to the two clerics. "One is a cleric of some dwarf god or another, the other with some lightning symbol, likely Talos." She shrugs. "Now, as to what I am doing here? Just passing through, like most anyone here I believe, spending a night in a bed, rather than on the ground." She takes a drink from the ale she brought with her to the table. "What about you lot? Where is a powerful adventuring group like yoruself heading off to? I heard that there is a old fortress not overly far from here, but I believe it was cleaned out some time back. You guys seeking more treasures there, or are you heading further afield and just stopping in for the night like myself?"
"I am not a huge follower of the musical arts, but it sounded quite nice to me." The blond woman says with a smile at Brock. "I have not introduced myself yet, I am Leann." She would glance around at the four of you at the table. "Who might you all be?"
"Well, if ye be looking fer company, we'll be joining ye as well." The dwarf cleric says then, interupting any chance for you to make your own intraductions. "Me name be Brin Irongear." He says as he tugs his chair over and sits next to brock. A moment later the human cleric pulls up another chair, this time next to Kallandra. He gives her a smile, though the msile does not reach his cold blue eyes at all. "I'm Jack." He says in way of introduction. "Hope you don't mind the company..." Without waiting for a response, and not really appearing to care if you don't want the companionship, he settles in his chair. He then waves to a serving girl walking by. "You there, a round of ale for the table." He calls to the serving girl, who glances over and nods, before scurrying away.
Brock, getting a view of the dwarf cleric's holy symbol now, a mountain silhouette with a central gemstone, you would recognize him as a cleric of Dumathoin, god of buried secrets.
Everyone would see Jack's holy symbol, three lightning bolts radiating from a point, and realize it is clearly the symbol of Talos, god of storms.
Leann gives the two a sigh and glances to the group again. "Before these two interupted I believe you were going to tell me who you all are, and what you are doing in this part of the Sword Coast."
Alarm bells go off in Kallandra's head at the sudden interjection into their group of these three strangers and she weighs her options. She could pretend to be charmed by the human and play along with him until his, and their, true intentions, benign, malevolent, or just boorish, were revealed. That would have the value of deception and might lull the three, for she had no doubt it was the three, into a false sense of security. On the other hand that would give these people physical proximity to herself and her friends and her belongings, which she dearly cherished. She puts her book away, and takes a firmer grip on her staff of defense.
The other option was to play the affronted woman, annoyed and irritated that the strangers had seen fit to involve themselves in merry-making not their own. That would likely push them away physically and emotionally but would give distance should they attempt anything. She decided the latter course was the best as she simply didn't feel like running a scam on these people. She's taking a risk speaking for her companions but better offended companions than a dagger in the back.
"Actually, we weren't," Kallandra says to the woman, but does so with her most charming smile, one which she makes sure goes to her eyes. "However, we can...my name is Kallandra." She turns to the human cleric, then, "But we do...mind the company I mean. I appreciate the offer," she says as she makes to lay a hand on his arm, then restrains herself. "We've had a hard day's travel and just wish some time to ourselves, to relax, and get to know our new friend," she indicates the woman."I will thank you to leave us to it. Perhaps in the morning, we can break bread together." Again, she lays on the charm and her smile.
"Playing a bit hard to get then huh?" Jack says with a grin, that, again, doesn't reach his eyes. He glances to Yashin and Brock. "Me and my friend," He nods to Brin. "We think we can drink you two under the table, the women too if they wish to join in." he raises an eyebrow at Yashin and Brock. "Do you two wish to accept our challenge, or, like your friend there, are you too good for the likes of us?" He glances to Kallandra as he says the last.
"Do you two challenge everyone you sit with?" leann asks with an anoyed look at the two clerics. "I mean, that was the exact same thing you said to me earlier..." She sighs as she looks to Kallandra. "Sorry for causing these too bother you. I can leave if you would rather be left alone, though I can't force these two to do the same." She shrugs. "I was just looking for some, decent, people to talk with." She aims the decent comment at Brin and Jack, clearly unhappy with the pair.
Kallandra catches the eyes of her companions trying to silently ask what they want to do with these buffoons who may be more than they appear. She knows what she wants to do but hesitates to commit them all to a confrontation
Brock chuckles and looks to Yashin and says, “Well my friend do you want to team up with me and drink them under the table? Been a while since anyone wanted to challenge Brock Ironhide to a drinking contest.”
Looking towards the women Brock says, “As why we are here, we are doing some mercenary work for some clients. Not very exciting, but puts the bread on the table.”
Kallandra eyes Brock askance. Apparently her silent message didn't register. Maybe I should learn telepathy.
She eyes the human coldly. "I don't play hard to get, or easy to get, or any such thing. Yes, I am too good for you. My friends are too. A rock would be too good for you, sitting here, uninvited, refusing a perfectly courteous request to leave. However, since my friends seems willing to put up with your...antics...I wish them the well of it. I'll take my leave of you. I'm feeling unclean. Perhaps there's a cesspool I can bathe in to feel a little cleaner." Glancing at the others, she says, "Brock, Yashin, Ichika, kick their asses."
Standing, Kallandra moves away from the table, but never quite turns her back on the table. She looks for a new table, or maybe a place at the bar where she can keep an eye on the table.
What was the message from the goddess in this, she wondered as she watched the table.
Yashin glances over at Brock and grins “It looks like we will get that competition after all, but it will be a team affair. Are you in?”
He glares back at the man and snorts “Well, yes we are too good for you, but I will take you up on your game. I have not yet met the man who could drink me under the table.” Yashin looks the man up and down with disdain “What is a puny thing like you doing wearing the Storm Lord’s sigil? Is the church that weak in these parts?”
Kallandra Jack gives you a mocking bow, rising from his chair to do so, then settling in again once you have stepped away. You move past the empty table Jack and Brin had been seated at earlier, and up to the bar. You step up next to the white-blond half-elf standing at the bar. She gives you a cool nod of greeting. "Those three are bad news I would say." She says conversationally. "I half-think the blond there is with the two men, but cannot put my finger just on why that would be, they seem so at odds." She gives a shrug, eyes more on the table Kallandra just left than on Kallandra herself.
At the table... Jack eyes Yashin with ice-blue eyes gone hard as diamonds. "You will get to see how strong I truly am, one day..." He hisses out through clenched teeth. He smiles then, "For now though, let's just see how well you can match those words of yours..." he looks to Ichika. "You want in on this, or will you run and hide like your other friend. This isn't really a woman's place, trying to match drinks with us, so I would understand if you wished to run and hide..." "Not a woman's place?" Leann snaps, slamming her own drink onto the table. She glances to Ichika. "You seriously going to let them get away with that. I'll stay if you do..."
Kallandra Jack gives you a mocking bow, rising from his chair to do so, then settling in again once you have stepped away. She gives a shrug, eyes more on the table Kallandra just left than on Kallandra herself.
Kallandra nods in agreement, wondering if the half-elf is one of them. Clearly, the human at least was aligned with their adversaries. She readied herself for combat, wondering why they were holding back.
More to make conversation than anything, she says, "Yep...that's what I think. What brings you to this place?"
Nodding his head to Yashin he looks to his Dwarven brethren and says, “A worshiper of the secret keeper should be a fine challenge. Though best to keep your friend in line. It is almost like he his making a threat,” He says making sure his staff was in clean view for all to see and ready to be grabbed at any moment.
Those who gotten to know Brock probably have realized his good nature doesn’t leave him even when he is facing a threat. It is when someone actually starts a fight that his mood changes and becomes the warrior he is. Weather it is the wisdom of the adventure or the foolishness of the Dwarf only you can decide.
Brin grins to Brocc. "He aint me friend, bash him all ye want." He chuckles as Jack glares at him. "Now, ye ready to stop yer stalling and get to it?" He looks to the two women, "And ye better decide if ye be joining or be running away..." The serving girls arrives at this point, with a tray of ales, one extra as Kallandra is not at the table any longer. Jack grabs the extra and places it before himself. "Run and get another round, and keep them coming, we are going to be having a contest hear..." Jack snaps at the woman, who glares at him, and looks ready to bash him over the head with her serving tray, but she swishes her skirts and moves away towards the bar instead.
"What am I doing here?" The half-elf asks Kallandra. "I think I'm about to watch your friends, as well as those other three, get really, really, drunk. Should be quite interesting to see." She leans against the counter, looking at ease as she sips from a glass of wine.
"I admit I'm no match for you." Ichika says mildly. She learns that sometimes you need to retreat in order to advance. And when someone dismisses her, it can work to her advantage. "If you'll excuse me, don't let me spoil everyone's fun." Ichika pushes her chair back and stands up. She clasps her palm against her fist in front of her chest in a brisk salute, then picks up her polearm, hefts it, before turning towards the bar Kallandra is sitting at. She sits down and looks back at their table, then whispers to Kallandra worriedly, "Are you okay?"
