KD asks Don Jon if this Mountain's Toe tunnel was the entrance to his mine, or something else. She had assumed that they hadn't reached their destination yet. She also has Hal take off to look around for a sheltered place for a rest where they can get out of the rain and stay out of sight, and not be in the tunnel, if Don Jon doesn't indicate that the Mountain's Toe is actually the best place to relax.
She also tries to think back of what she knows of the cure for lycanthropy, unwilling to let despair win when there was a possible solution available.
Normal d20 roll plus.... (history? arcana? medicine? intelligence?): 13
Don Jon nods affirmatively to KD. “Yes Ma’am! They indeed did find the entrance to the mine. The front entrance anyway.”
”The tracks leading from it belonged to them rat baddies!” Nova blurts. “It smelled all sorts of…” She wrinkles her nose and shudders. “Even stinky cheese smells better.” The druid nods.
“Front entrance?” Fae would first mutter to herself. “Is there a rear?”
Nova would pause. “Huh.” She’d blink. “I didn’t sniff a back door.” Mismatched eyes would look expectantly at Onu, then around to the others. Should they go check that out as an option?
“Well, this here’s the west entrance. There’s an east entrance. Not well known, or often used.” Don Jon would shrug before adding. “For health and safety reasons of course. Cave in’s and such…” He goes on to ramble on about workers forming unions and their rights.
Demetrios thinks over Don Jon and Onu's words, cupping his chin while in thought. "It may be... They certainly wouldn't expect us to enter through an alternative entrance than the main one. Not sure if we could be sneaky for long, though."He glances down to his shiny, bulky armor sheepishly.

Don Jon would rub his chin in thought. “Aye… It’s a short trek.” One could hear his nails against his whiskers. “Gotta skirt ‘round the mountain.” He nods. “Can’t say I’ve timed it. But…” The man shrugs, then gestures for the group to follow him.
A good few minutes of walking, Don Jon pipes up again. “Not far now…” He leads the group through to a clearing and pauses.
This field contains a ring of earthen graves with pickaxes sticking out of the ground where headstones ought to be.
(Sorry Cherri, I didn’t realize that there was a bit of a cross posting that happened on my part there. And RK I did miss a detail on your roll for a cure. I’m weaving it in.) (With no stealth required to skirt the mountain, I imagine the discussion(s) could happen along the walk around to prepare for entering the back entrance of the mine if you’d like. I hope that’s alright.)
While Nova had been skipping along jubilantly behind the thoughtful pair, Fae was the opposite, falling thoughtfully silent.
KD would get a brief sensation fall over her mind as she wondered about a lycanthopy cure. It felt passively familiar, then as gently as it came, it floated away.
Onu and Demetrios’ caution to consider a less direct approach may be worth considering once the scene of fresh graves opened up before them.
If one thing could reassure the group, it was that KD’s mechanical companion Hal was continuously alert. He could not be surprised.
Breaking the silence, Don Jon would clear his throat to respond to KD’s lingering question. “Miners…”
Hamish approaches the graves and bows his head. If anyone were listening, they would hear him saying a soft prayer for the souls of the people buried. "What a brutal way to die. They are at peace now. Their loved ones should find some comfort in that."

Don-Jon shakes his head in response to Onu's assumption. "This is much too many to be from the cave-ins..." He'd shift his weight and tilt his head down. "Them varmints!" The man spits at the ground, fists balled. He'd let those words hang in the air. These miner's perished in battle for control of the mine.
Fae tucks herself close to the mountain beneath a jut to shelter herself from the rain. She'd busy herself in her notes while listening to the others decide where they'd like to take that little rest they talked about.
Nova wonders off in the cover of rain to confirm the rear entrance of the mine is just around the base of the mountain from the graves. It's obscured by some bushes, but she was able to locate it and report back to the others.
KD touches each of the pickaxes, gently, lost in thought. "We should clear the mine. Those we just fought, they seemed bad. There's more inside. Seems we want to keep our distance whenever we can. No bites if we can help it. So that means chokepoints, distractions, killboxes, and staying out of melee until necessary."She sits down with Don Jon and pulls out some paper and tries to get his best sense of the layout of the mine, to prompt ideas on how to keep the group safe. Hal picks out a spot up the mountainside to look out for anything incoming.
Onu stands over KD's shoulder, watching as they lay out plans to minimize exposure to the bites of the creatures. As he does, he pulls out his new bolt thrower and starts making minor adjustments to it, tuning the sights and the mechanisms for the closer ranges he expects inside the cave.
Don Jon rubs the back of his head. “Aye… them mines be a bit of a maze fer anyone but them dwarves…” He hangs his head with a bit of shame. DJ would fall silent for some time until Hamish would raise his questions, looking thoughtful. “Someone had to have done these graves… There’s chance a few still survive… using their knowledge of the mines to their advantage to hide…” He’d mumble off.
Further behind KD and Onu, Fae remained in the cover from the rain. Hal would saunter over by her to inspect the cliff for scaling when she’d clear her throat to speak. “Miss KD, if I may add a tactic to your list for consideration.” Her head would dip. The hooded wizard would turn to look in Hamish’s direction, “I mean no disrespect when I say this Sir Hamish,” and she’d return to facing the artificer. “I believe his misfortune could be turned advantage, should the situation call for it.” She’d hint. Catching Nova’s tilted head of confusion, Fae would explain. “Already having the curse, he cannot be cursed more.”
Hal
The mechanical defender may be able to scale the slope with a successful DC 10 Strength (Athletics) check.
"OK, I'll go first then and you can use me as bait to bring them to you. I'm ready. I will distract them and hold them off as long as I can." Hamish raised himself up to his full height as he spoke.
Onu clasps the brave cleric on the shoulder, 'We'll be right behind you friend. Keep that shield up and tucked under your chin, Dodge as often as you can. The rest of us will cut our way through.'
Hal was eager to make the climb, only for the rain and slippery slope to deny him access. Rock crumbles from the weight of the construct and gives way, sending Hal tumbling down the cliff. A few tings, bong and a clang, the mechanical monkey hits the ground right next to the cloaked wizard. From the darkness of her hood, Fae looks down in some surprise. She snaps her book shut to lean down and offer KD’s companion a hand up. Once Hal was back on his feat, she’d dust him off and wipe off some mud with the sleeve of her cloak. Besides a few new scratches and dents, Hal was fine.
"Alright, let's go in before I change my mind. I will gladly lay my life down for you all if this is my time, although, I hope it's not." Hamish bounces on his toes a few times and begins walking into the mine.
