Quickly realizing that he will run out of spells quickly, Durnham falls back on his tried and true cantrips. Not as strong as some of his spells, the cantrips did offer plenty of range and he didn’t run out of them. He quickly puts the diamond back in his pouch and lifts the staff parallel to the ground and points it at the mephit that Qidira targeted. “Flambé!”The top of his staff glows a soft red as a small bolt of fire erupts from the top and flies towards the mephit.
Brandon grips his shield as the creatures appear to float over the ice and snow and rapidly close the distance to the party. He watches the one struck by Durnham’s spell explode, remembering the warning of the others. Noting the effectiveness of fire, he mutters a short incantation, draws his longsword in a sweeping motion and green flames spread across the blade.
He strikes against the ice mephit to his immediate front.
Attack: 15 Damage: 5 on a hit, flames jump to the mephit to the south and it takes 3 fire damage.
Kotarmoves into the line of mephitis and tries to draw their attack, preparing to avoid the creatures’ claws or breath attacks.
Brandon’sblade slashes across the mephit in front of him and carves a deep ridge into its chest. As he follows through on his swing, green fire leaps to the other mephit and sears across its legs, causing their thighs to run with melted ice.
Durnham’sfire bolt is pinpoint accurate, flying past Qidira’s shoulder and hitting the already-stricken mephit. Streams of meltwater run down its body and the creature squeals in a pitch so high that it is barely audible.
Archimedeskeeps up his aerial scouting, peering through the snow for signs of danger and seeing none.
(Ressys’ turn. Mephits one and two are unharmed, three and four are moderately wounded, five is badly wounded)
Qidira switches quickly from Crossbow to blades as the Mephits approach, fearing their likely explosions but unable to back off and leave her companion to face them. Her hand touches the magical Dagger Durnham entrusted her with and her eyes lighten. "Let's see what you can do." She whispers to the small blade. She draws her Shortsword in one hand and the magical dagger in the other and slashes at the creatures in precise deft moves.
@DM
is Mephit 5 within striking distance of her? Plan is one attack with shortsword to 5, one attack to 4 and sneak attack to 3 hoping to avoid OA. Will edit with my rolls and targets.
Ressyshurls another globule of fire, targeting the badly wounded mephit. The flame has has a curious effect on this mephit, sparking on contact and causing it to sparkle all over its surface. With a final scream the creature explodes, showering its nearby companion (mephit four) with ice shards.
Orvobacks up to stand just to the front and side of Durnham, firing his longbow as he moves. One arrow flies wide but the other smacks mephit two in the shoulder, causing it to spin slightly in the air before righting itself.
@Qidira:
Sneak attack is not a separate attack, it gives additional damage to one attack. The map should explain positioning; you are in range of three and four, may attack one target with both attacks or two targets with one each. Either attack can add Sneak Attack damage, but not both
Qidira's turn

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Qidira stands boldy next to the Hexblade grinning as she swipes first with her Shortsword at the one in front of her then second at the one in front of Brandon with the magical dagger.
Shortsword - Attack: 12 Damage: 8
Durnham's Magical Dagger(Powers unknown so not applied to roll) - Attack: 18 Damage: 1
Sneak attack to Four 2
@DM sorry meant Mephit three for the sneak attack (one in front of Brandon)
Qidiraslashes out with both blades, causing shards to fly from both targets. Neither mephit explodes in death throes, but both look very badly hurt.
Mephit one flies towards Orvoand Durnhambefore unleashing a cone of cold breath at the scout and the wizard. Orvo catches a full blast of the frozen air and cries out in pain.
(Durnham please make a DC10 DEX save, taking 6 cold damage on a fail or half that on a success)
Kotar’spositioning means that mephit two cannot unleash its breath weapon without hitting its companions, so it scratches at the big goliath instead (at disadvantage because of his evasion)
Attack on Kotar Attack: 17 Damage: 4 slashing plus 1 cold damage
Mephits three and four scratch at Brandonand Qidirarespectively.
Attack on Brandon Attack: 15 Damage: 5 slashing damage plus 2 cold damage
Attack on Qidira Attack: 23 Damage: 7 slashing damage plus 2 cold damage

Kotar tries to watch the field of battle while keep the focus of his attention in the surrounding Mephits. The further way seemed to have ignored the goliath and advanced against Durnham and Orvo. While the closest one try attacking, but not with its cold breath. Rather, the small elemental swing its frail looking arms in an attempt to claw him. The fighter didn’t need his shield or even to try evading the strike. The Mephit took aim against his suit of armor. Instead of skin and flesh, the creature found the hard steel of the splint.
Why? He asked himself for a moment. Why didn’t it try its breath? The he looked at his side and found the answer in the form of the other ice elementals, lined and in reach. He wanted to go after Durnham and Orvo, but that changed everything. As long as he held that position he could keep that one enemy locked into melee.
“I will try to push them away.” Kotar shouts to Brandon and Qidira. “Try to keep damage to non-lethal until they are further away.”
And with that said he slams his shield against the Mephit in front of Brandon. He tries using all his strength to shove the creature further away.
Notes: Kotar uses the shove against Mephit Three, trying to push the creature in the right direction of the map and as far away of the party as possible.
Qidira hears Kotar's words but struggles to figure how to push them away beyond direct contact as it's a biting cold they give off. She thinks of the snowshoe, but is unwilling to sacrifice such a valuable commodity and ponders other things. Not finding anything to use, settles on just providing support once they do ready to switch back to daggers if some distance can be made.
(Qidira’s cold damage reduced from 4 to 2 as per her reaction Absorb Elements)
The mephit shoved by Kotar tries to resist the shove: 9
The mephit tries to evade Kotar's shove but he seems a pace ahead, seeing the move before it happens (there was another mephit in the way so I took the liberty of moving it diagonally)
Brandon watches Kotar push the mephit in front of him back and hears his warning. He has already seen the first mephit explode when it was destroyed and realizes the danger of melee combat. He is not as strong as the goliath and he doesn’t fear the shards of ice, but he glances around at the others nearby. He calls to Qidiria “Little one, you work better at a distance than I do. Get back so you are not injured when these creatures go down.”
He pushes forward with his own shield, trying to shove the mephit in front of Qidira (mephit 4) back to the east 5 feet. Athletics: 0.
(edit: yep, that's about right for Brandon. Great visual of a scrawny human trying to copy a goliath though)

Durnham reaches into his pocket again and pulls out the tiny diamond again. He holds his hand forward, gazed into the faceted diamond and again calls forth the fire reflected within… warmth is drawn from around him, the air, his own body, tiny bits of heat drawn from the world around him and focused through the diamond into a tiny point… Durnham lifts his staff and draws the flame towards the gnarled top of the staff, points it towards the mephit that spewed the cold blast and Orvo and himself and calls forth the magic energies again “flame ball!”
Another small fist sized ball of fire arcs towards the mephit as he once again casts chromatic orb.

Hoping that the mephit that Kotar pushed away was far enough away incase he killed it and it exploded Ressys chose that one as his next target and creating another handful of flame throws it.
