"Waterproof is not necessarily warm clothing. I would think the armor would be under the outer clothing but each to their own I suppose. You should worry less what others think of what you look like. Be confident in yourself and your decisions."
Ressys glances at the maps again.
"I am not used to such things and never use them. I am rarely lost because I am never worried about where I am. I have no permanent home so another tree or cave is as good as any for a place of shelter."
He then looks towards the entrance of the tent,
"If you are finished here I would like to visit the Buyer before we leave. Hopefully the others have concluded their business and we can meet back up with them."
“We will leave you to your preparations, Orvo.”Brandon turns toward Durnham and Kotar, “Shall we go collect the others at the professor’s tent? I do not know where to find this Buyer. Morgo can lead us to them and we can see what else this lovely camp has to offer before we head out.”
“Thank you Orvo, we will all be glad of your guidance on this trip.”
He then stands and nods to Brandon, “Yeah, let’s go find the others and visit the buyer. Are we leaving as soon as possible or first thing in the morning?” He asks as they make their way out of the tent.
Qidira nods to Ressys, "Yes you're right. I think I'll leave the armor over it for now as I don't want it damaged any more than necessary if we are attacked. I think I've discovered all I can for now. Let's find the others." She gathers up her own belongings and steps outside to look around and see if she can spot Morgo or any of the others.
Morgo is waiting outside Shalebrow’s tent for Ressys and Qidira, smiling at them as they emerge and gauging their intent to find their colleagues before visiting the Buyer. She leads the duo across the camp, dodging guy ropes and fires on another mini tour of Syrinlya.
Before long, the party of three reaches Orvo’s tent and meets up with Brandon, Kotar and Durnham. The reunited team then set off, following Morgo’s lead, on a different course away from the scout’s tent.
After a short walk you notice the top of an impressive tent – in both dimensions and colouring – emerge in the direction you are heading. It soon becomes apparent that this is your destination, as you pass a row of smaller tents and emerge into something of a clearing in which sits the large yurt.
Made of fine red velvet-like material and patterned with silver thread, the yurt has a porch-like extension at the front.
Morgo slows down as you reach the front, saying “The Buyer is a lovely person, they’re close to Gulrim too and been here pretty much since Syrinlya was founded”
As they walk Qidira (and Ressys likely) share the Waterproof gear with the others.
"In Gulrim's notes he had mentioned bringing Waterproof gear and it seemed an excellent idea. Morgo generously offered us each a set for our journey. I discovered a lot of other potentially helpful pieces within his notes and can share them later with you all." She says quickly after reuniting with the others enroute to the Buyer's Yurt. Then to Morgo as they arrive, "Shall we go right in?"
Durnham looks at the waterproof gear dubiously as they walk through the tents. “Qidira... is this professor’s path the same direction we’re going? We need to get to the ice sheets and this vault to find the cure...”
Qidira looks over to Durnham, "I'm not sure as I don't entirely know where the Ice Sheets or the Vault is, but I've mapped out everything that I can find about Gulrim's route. He seemed to feel that the route to his destination was going to take him far inland and a decent amount out of the way so adjusted to a coastal option, possibly using a collapsible watercraft and hugging the coast to shorten his journey. I also found some notes on various creatures he either expected to or had encountered. I think should we come across one of the ones mentioned, I might be able to help a bit recall weakness or other detail but it was so scattered and unfamiliar to me I'll need to wait to see one. Most of the information was in Dwarven or his own personal note-taking style but I gleaned what I could. I know the cure is the priority but if any of his trip overlaps, it might be useful." She says all this within hearing of the rest of the group, but not loud enough to be unintentionally overheard by others outside their group.
Morgo smiles and opens the front flap of the yurt for you to enter.
The pungent scent of incense fills this yurt, whose walls are painted with glowing arcane runes. A brass brazier burns brightly at the center of the floor, around which are set a few plush chairs, a bed, and a large stone chest. On one of those chairs sits an elf reading a book. A small dragon with green butterfly wings is curled in the elf’s lap.
The elf looks up as you enter, smiles and says "Good day my friends. You look new to Syrinlya"
Brandon nods his head in a polite greeting “You are the Buyer, I presume? I am Brandon, and you are correct, my companions and I are fresh off of the boat from Palebank.” He introduces the party and looks around the interior of the yurt, letting his eyes settle on the small dragon. “Thank you for your hospitality. We were sent by Elro to search for a cure for an Aeorian poison or sickness that we believe originated on the island. We were told you could help us transport the antidote back to Palebank when we have recovered it. Time is of the essence.”
Qidira slips into the Yurt with the others staying a bit off to the edge of the group and surveying the room. "Greetings Buyer,I am Qidira and travel with this group. Timing is very critical as the incubation period of the Poison is short and travel here took much of that time. A precious couple of children suffer this poison back where we came from so hope that word that you can help is true." She speaks earnestly to the Buyer. Then her eye catching the curious dragon in her lap trying to recall what sort this might be.
Durnham walks in behind the others and looks about the yurt. He looks at the elf with appreciation. This was clearly someone with strong magical abilities. He looks at the fey dragon and smiles before he momentarily dips into Archimedes’ vision as he flies above outside. He speaks to the buyer in elvish. ”uhm… hello. My name is Durnham. May the sun shine brightly on you today.”
He was unsure about what to say while Qidira and Durnham talked about Gulrim and the cure. It was a good thing to have something other to occupy the thoughts besides their quest and the gnome had a point. Something useful could come out from an overlapping travel. At the same time the dwarf had the priority right and too much distraction could be a problem. In the end the goliath decided to remain in silence and follow his companions into the tent.
Should have told them about Orvo, he realized remembering a little bit too late that neither Qidira nor Ressys knew yet that they had the guide’s help for the journey to the thin sheets. That was a good thing to say, good news. I can tell them when leave.
The Buyer was the first to speak and Brandon was the first to answer. Kotar could see that both were quite used to dealing with people. Far better than himself with words. Only when the wizard introduce himself the fighter noticed that he should do the same.
“I am Kotar Ironhunter Anakalathai” He was fast to notice how little he had spoken as a brief moment of silence took the air. “I… Hmmm… Am from deeper within the mountains.”
The Buyer nods politely as Brandon introduces each member of the party. Their smooth face is androgynous, making their gender indeterminate. Their smile warms further as Durnham gives a greeting in Elvish.
“Sun shine upon you too. You are correct, I can transport the cure back to Palebank through my stone chest here”
They indicate the chest at their side, it looks sturdy and is made of a dark stone polished to a fine finish with silver script inlaid across the outside.
“I had word from Elro of your quest, and I wish you well. This Frigid Woe sounds like a vile poison indeed, and a cure is essential if it is to be stopped. Bring it here and I shall get it to Elro with the utmost haste; should you find any other Aeorian artifacts that you wish to trade then I Will offer a fair price for those also”
(Arcana or Nature check to identify the dragon please, it is not a common creature although Durnham seems to have heard of – or encountered – one before)
“Thank you, you are most generous”Brandon looks at the dragon curled on the Buyer’s lap, trying to place it. Arcana.21.
“What can you tell us of the area known as the ‘Thin Sheets,’ any recent reports of artifacts or threats in the vicinity? Surely you must hear information from around the island in your role here?” Brandon gives a warm smile “Anything you can share to ease our journey would be greatly appreciated.”
“Would you happen to know about some aeorian animated suits of armors?”Kotar said soon after Brandon made his own questions. It was a shot in the dark, he had to admit as much, but if what happened with Orvo was any indication then it was one quite worth taking. “We have gathered that some of those guard the area we need to investigate so it would be extremely useful to know any details their capabilities. Better yet if you know of a way to deactivate them.”
This Buyer man was familiar with relics, the kind that came from the Vault. There was a chance, albeit slim, that he knew just the information they needed to avoid any fight. Not that the goliath didn’t thirst for some combat, normally he would be thrilled by idea of testing his mettle against a weapon of yore. But his duty was far more important. He needed to find the cure for Frigid Woe and there was no time to satisfy his taste for tests of martial prowess. How ironic, and adventurer putting adventuring aside. But, well, such is the gravity of the task of hand, he decided while looking at the Buyer, waiting for an answer that could very well not be that helpful.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ressys steps into the tent and stands behind the others. He often does as his height leaves in such a position that standing in front of others blocks them. He remains quiet but the winged creature draws his attention and while he is unsure if he know what it is (Nature 5) his curiosity gets the best of him and he simply asks.
"What is that creature? It looks to be some sort of dragon but I cannot place it. Very curious."
Qidira's eyes widen at the mention of animated suits of armor as opponents wondering just what sorts of things they might be up against. Resisting the temptation to peer at her notes, she parks it in the back of her mind for research later. She keeps quiet during conversation as she's unsure of what was discussed with Orvo in the prior tent and doesn't wish to be redundant in their queries. Her large ears then bring her back to the conversation at hand as Ressys inquires about the little dragon with the faerie wings.
