Qidira's bolt and Durnham's missiles pepper the water, snaking under the surface to find the first crab. Its hard carapace cannot withstand the onslaught and is pierced in multiple places; the crab goes limp in the water and slowly drifts away.
Qidira's stomach grumbles a little as she watches a fine crab dinner float away but happy its not enjoying her this evening. She turns her eye onto the next and rearms her crossbow.
Durnham points the wand at the crab to the east of the chest and unleashes another charge of magic missile at it. 3 faintly glowing blue arrows swiftly fly towards the crab and hit for 3, 2, and 2 force damage.
He could hear the muffled sound of the blasts of arcane energy cutting through the water and hitting the crabs. Durnham or Brandon, he was sure. Those crabs made a very bad choice when they decided to attack him. They wouldn’t stand a chance against the Warlock and Wizard. Maybe we can have some crab later. The thought was enough to put water on his closed mouth. He loved eating crab. A lot. Of course, there was the question if those crabs were even edible and at the moment the entire situation he was in made for more pressing matters than thinking about the dinner menu. Far more pressing, in fact.
Blade in hand, the goliath focused his eyes, his attention, on reaching the chest. As fast as he could, the fighter swam towards his target. He steeled himself to the possibility of being hit. If the cure for Frigid Woe really was there, then no wound would be too much of a price to pay. As soon as the lid was in reach, he looked for a lock. Finding one he would try to break it with the pommel of the dagger. Finding none he would use all the strength of his arms to try and get the lid open.
Notes: Kotar swims to the chest, tries to break any lock it may have. If there is no lock he tries to open the chest.

Belatedly Qidira thinks of the speckles of Frigid Woe on the chest in the cave and knows that it also seems waterproof - from its presence in the potion bottles. The owner wouldn't have trapped an underwater chest this way would they? The crabs would seem to be enough, but she worries for her friend and takes aim and the next nearest crab trying to free his attention for the chest.
Kotar wades into the water and then submerges to reach the chest, 10ft below the water's surface. He finds it unlocked, and the lid swings open...
Revealing a thick layer of sand which immediately spills out into the water around the goliath. As the fog clears, he sees remaining within the chest, packed in the sand that has stayed in place, twenty glass vials similar to those that have borne the dreaded Frigid Woe. The contents of these vials has a more greenish hue however, and the inside of the chest's lid bears a strange rune that Kotar does not recognise.
The crabs round on Kotar and all three attack with their cruel-looking pincers

Brandon kneels by the edge of the water and slaps at the surface with his shield repeatedly, creating a loud sound and waves and trying to draw some of the three remaining crabs away from Kotar. Intimidation: 6.

The Darren wizard flourishes his wand again at the same crab that he wounded previously. Hoping to take it down and reduce the number of creatures coming after Kotar.
Three more pale blue arrows emerge from the wand and head towards the crab dealing 3, 3, and 2 force damage.
Qidira gives an uncharacteristic curse as a second bolt is lost in the water wishing she had Durnham's knack with the Mage Hand for she'll never retrieve them in this frigid water.
(deducting accordingly, will add back if somehow retrieved although she over supplied leaving her with a measly 56 now;) )
Durnhamlooses another volley into the water and a second crab splinters into fragments of shells and meat. Two remain; one focused on Kotar and the other turning its attention to Brandon.

When he first opened the chest and the cloud of sand spread through the water Kotar felt a cold shiver. It was not the water, but his mind considering that maybe he had released more of the deadly Aeorian spores. The worry subsided fast as his eyes glimpsed inside the container. Vials, he noticed feeling deceptionated. Thinking for a moment that it was just more Frigid Woe. A brief moment for the fighter soon realized the different color.
A smile took hold of his lips while his thoughts raced. It was the cure. Had to be. And that meant he needed to take it out of the lake without letting it be damaged. First he considered just grabbing as many flasks as possible but then there were the crabs. Their claws were more than enough to break the glass. I have to pull out the chest, he decided grabbing the lid and closing the casket.
Kotar had done many things. Most of them involved using strength, but few of them demanding using much strength underwater. For all that he knew things could end like they did with the buried corpses, only this time he had no help. Doesn’t matter, he said to himself. I have to try. And so he did.
Notes: Kotar closes the lid and tries to bring the chest out of the water.

Ressys hurls his summoned flame at the crabs but the arcane fire dissipates and splashes harmlessly against shell.

Qidira spots what Kotar is trying to do and shouts over to Durnham. "That hand thing you do...can it reach to help him?"
