During the long and arduous walk up the mountain trail Tylaerys at one point stumbles into Kane, looking up quickly at the tiefling walking by her side and blushing, before regaining her balance and composure. "Imagine two years without the warmth of the sun. That would numb both spirit and body I presume." She says to no one in particular trying to ease the sudden tension.
Kane hears what she says, but doesn’t respond. He walks closely with Tylaerys, at one point taking her hand tightly. Traveling in this snow, with the freezing temperatures, is taking a toll on Kane, who is used to more warmer climates. But he has two goals on his mind: keep Tylaerys warm and get through this snow. Tylaerys can see him breathing heavily and grasping his throat, his airways becoming sore from the cold.
"It´s already terribly cold, isn´t it. Here, let me help you." Tylaerys stops Kane and gently adjusts his fur coat so that it better protects him from the cold, placing another warming enchantment on it for good measure. "I hope that will allow you to breathe easier, I wish I could do more. I just hope we will endure and eventually overcome this everlasting rime." She walks close to Kane holding his hand, trying to share her warmth with the freezing tiefling.

The wizard huffs and wheezes, but manages to keep pace with the party. He catches up to Chess and Freya, saying, "I apologize for last evening. Oftentimes my curiosity overcomes my reason. We shall fulfill our contract"
He smiles and laughs awkwardly, continuing, "I do, however, still wish to learn as much as I can about Icewatch and its history. Do you believe a researcher from Candlekeep would be allowed access to the lore stored within Clan Battlehammer's libraries?"

Used to sitting behind a desk Quip quickly succumbs to the grueling pace and has to fight to stay on her feet "Difficult" she says through labored breathing
Tylaerys notices Almarath keeping up with the dwarves but Quip having a harder time at it. "Come on Quip, not long now I hope. Soon you can rest with Allyn in one of those cosy sleds." She says hoping the dragonborn finds the strength to keep moving.
As Tylaerys is fixing his coat, Kane suddenly takes Tylaerys in for a hug, holding her tightly. She makes out the words, “So…cc…cold.“ His teeth are chattering. He then lets go of her, patting in the shoulder and resuming the on foot trek through the snow.
"As much as I enjoy being held by you we have to go on now Kane. When we reach Bryn Shander I will find some way to get you warm again." Tylaerys whispers to the the tiefling as he hugs her, smiling mysteriously as he let´s her go.
The arduous journey to the top of the mountain takes almost the whole day.
Chess moves to Quip. " Take my place under the rugs and get warm little one. We dwarves are made fr this ing of hardship and I have made this trek more than you got years."
He moves to the group answering Tylaerys. "We will be there the day after tomorrow. But we have done the hardest part."
Freya talks with Almarath, despite the cold and the biting wind. "Mantle has no worries that you will fulfill your pledge. And no worries about your curiosity. Clan Battlehammer will be happy to let you look into the books."
Mantle is silent the whole trip and takes a careful look of the environment.
"We will get to our next stop soon. Nothing as fancy as the last one, " he chuckles. " so we might have to dig and wait the night out."
As the group finally arrives at the destination the dwarves once more start to take care of the dogs and the camp.
"Freya moves to some of you. " It might be a good time for some of you to go and see if the perimeter is safe." Once more she takes out a scroll and starts to read. Se casts Bless on those who will go.

Kane notices nothing, probably because he is too busy flirting with Tylaerys “Tylaerys, was your father a thief?”
"A thief, why would you say that, he was a most honourable man." Tylaerys answers angrily, at first upset with the mention of her father but then she realizes what Kane was referring to. "Oh, I just have a light step I think. Perhaps it will be helpful during our travels." She smiles tryin to smooth over her outburst.
(Perhaps Kane also took some advice from the old wizard? :-)

Allyn stands, recovered somewhat from the tough journey up the mountain. "I feel well enough now, I will join you both on the patrol as well..as long as three doesn't make a crowd" he grabs his lute and checks to make sure his rapier is secured be departing with the group.

"Wait, what is that"Allyn shouts. He points out a large creature hiding under a pile of snow to the east of the camp and warns the others. He tries to determine what kind of beast it is and if it poses any immediate danger.
Nature 13
A city boy, born and bred, Allyn has no idea what the strange creature is. "I hate to interrupt" he says to Tylaerys and Kane "But do you know what that is and should we warn the others?"
Kane laughs. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t referring to either of those things. I asked if your father a thief because it looks like he stole the stars and put them in your eyes. It was a pick up line, I’m sorry if it made you upset. You haven’t talked about your family a lot. Tell me about them?” Kane asks, curiosity in his eyes.
"Yes, as interesting as my family would seem they will have to wait Kane." Tylaerys says with a hint of irritation. "What is it Allyn." She then says turning to the attentive half-elf.
"By Mystra, I should have spotted that creature, thanks for staying vigilant Allyn." Tylaerys says appreciatively while trying to figure out what she is looking at.
Knowledge to identify the hiding creature:12
"I fear it is hiding to surprise it´s prey, which right now would be us. Let´s get Quip and Almarath over here before going closer." Unless the creature seems totally harmless Tylaerys informs the camp, going back there if necessary, being wary of the creature emerging from the snow.

Almarath: Wishing for nothing more than to eat and rest, Almarath waves his hand dismissively and says, "Bah, I'm not walking another step! Poly shall accompany you in my stead."
Poly Perception: 21
Poly Stealth: 23 + 4 (Guidance)
Poly sores above the group, keeping a watchful eye upon the party. He scans the surrounding area for anything of interest, spotting the beast hidden in the snow. The familiar moves in closer for a better look before reporting back to its master.
Almarath perks up and to those remaining behind says, "They've found something! A beast lying in wait beneath the snow to the east." The wizard attempts to determine the nature of the creature based on Poly's scrambled description as he prepares to head out toward where the beast was found.
"We should deal with this creature one way or another." Tylaerys says grimly as reinforcements have arrived. "I have the radiance of Mystra at my disposal."
Almarath stands up in the camp when Poly sends back images of the creature hiding under a pile of fresh snow. Ice Shark the name sends a shiver down his spine despite the fact he never encountered one. The stories surrounding this mythical creature are enough.
For Almarath
The creature seems to have fed and was sleeping. It is more curious than anything else.
Arcana Roll DC 14.
You feel like it has been elevated from the basic animal needs in some wait. Awaked is the word you would use.
For the rest, the ones going around the perimeter, once the creature has been spotted you feel a strange weakening at the knees like you have met a powerful predator.
The white, almost crystalline creature, rises up on all four, snow falling from its massive bulk. Red eyes glinting, with curiosity it starts to move in a circle, clearly aiming to flank you all. It keeps its eyes on the group and watches for any movement. Standing over six feet tall at the waist it is an imposing creature. Muscles rippling under a thick skin, its claws make a strange unnerving sound as they scrap at the packed snow. Maw opened to feel the cold air as it moves lazily.
Animal Handling or Insigth DC 14
The creature doesn't seem to be a threat other than its natural predatory posture. It would probably have attacked had it been hungry.
OOC: To Oberon99 It is within a 60 feet range but moves on the ridge a bit higher than where you are.
Almarath: The elderly sage mumbles and grumbles to himself as he plods along through the snow. Searching his mind and praying silently to Oghma for guidance, he attempts to understand just what he is seeing.
Arcana: 18 + 2 (Guidance)
In constant communication with Poly, he watches anxiously as the beast suddenly begins to circle.
Insight: 13 + 2 (Guidance)
Unaccustomed to looking through a Snowy Owls eyes, Almarath shakes his head and regains his senses. As he approaches the party, he says, "I believe it to be an Ice Shark. It is acting strangely, but I don't know enough about these creatures to determine the cause."
He orders Poly to keep an eye on the shark from high above. If it should leave the area, Poly will attempt to follow it in search of its lair and then report back.
