Shariel reaches out with her mind to probe the Grung leader's. She tells it that they come in search of keys from each of the shrines and that she has been blessed with NangNang's presence. In their travels, she met some other grungs and they recognized the deity within her. What needs to be done to retrieve the key from NangNang's shrine?

With a wave of his hand, the door to the main chamber opens, the puzzle cube sitting on a pedestal in the center. Surrounding the pedestal in the room is literally a dragon's horde of treasure. Coins, items, armor, weapons. Literally everything and anything you can think of.
Shariel turns to the grung leader, "Your master is pleased." As she walks toward the entrance, she can feel the pull of her avaricious deity. Desire for treasure overwhelms her hands and feet, but her mind combats the thieving god.
(Are there any checks required or can I just take the cube? Knowing NangNang is a greedy and possessive bugger, I'm assuming the treasure is a trap.)

The little gnome watches carefully as Shariel enters the shrine to retrieve the cube. She'll maneuver such that a large number of the grung are positioned for a 20' radius Fireball. You know, should it come to that. :)

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
After grabbing the cube, Shariel feels an overwhelming sense of entitlement. Surveying the hoard of treasure for choice pieces, she leaves with her prize(s) and returns to the gold grung, "You have done well protecting your Master's tribute. Should His need arise, do we have your vow to come to His aid?" She reinforces the message telepathically incase the creature did not understand.

The grung leader says nothing. He just observes you taking the cube, and nothing more, but you can tell he is not happy, nor would he provide any assistance. The treasure gleams as you watch it. You can spot each and everything you would ever want.

"NangNang is pleased with your zeal. He tells me that He regards you as avatars; direct extensions of His will in this world. He offers a piece of His hoard to you and each of your servants here." With that, Shariel rejoins the others, watching a moment to see if they take the bait.

They are not interested in the treasure, for they already possess it, and everything they need. They only wish for you all to leave. Or to fight - which they are all happy to entertain. Taking the puzzle cube and dying in the Tomb of Annihilation is of no consequence to them.

A pair of needlelike columns mark the entrance to a walled ruin. In the courtyard beyond, banyan roots envelop a squat building. The stone doors that seal the entrance are carved with images of snarling bears with long, sharp claws. You are detecting life forms nearby. About 4.
A plaque above the shrine's entrance reads: "Obo'laka teaches us to tread warily and stay in the light." The doors at 19A are ajar. In area 19B, the walls of the dark corridor are covered with painted reliefs showing Omuan people hunting, harvesting fruit, planting crops, crafting weapons, feasting, fighting, weaving, and skinning animals. Eight empty torch brackets protrude from the walls under the reliefs. As you round the corner down the hall to area 19C, you see a pool of water. A glorious sun is carved on the ceiling, directly above a pool of still water. The ceiling reflected in the pool does NOT show a sun carving, but a moon carving.

Yasei inspects the ceiling in the reflecting pool. Does it have any torches sitting in brackets, or torches stacked up against the wall, or anything that looks like a secret door?

This would have been an actual round, starting with Shariel, but:
The grung leader holds up his hand. Everyone freezes.
Depending on what Shariel does, combat is "on hold" at this moment. If combat continues, we're using the same initiative order.
The grung leader remains still, as do his people.

Nope.
Yasei looks down into the water of the reflecting pool. Does she see the bottom of the pool? Anything swimming in it?
