When you activate this charm, you can cast the blink or sleep (3rd-level version) spell. Alternatively, when you take damage, you can use your reaction to turn invisible and teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. You remain invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack or cast a spell. The charm vanishes after you activate it.
Marlyth's spell has no effect.
<ooc: Good tactic though. Makes me wish I had him cast something else. He was using invisibility, but that ended when he attacked.>
(ooc: think she was hoping the elemental was summoned by a spell, perhaps by the semi-comatose red wizard, and Dispel Magic would end it's time here before the hour was up... just a guess on my part.)

(@Brian_Avery, I agree with you. Dispel Magic can be cast without prior detection of any kind of magic, so Marlyth didn't cast Detect Magic first. She's possibly wise enough to realize that the fire-earth elemental doesn't belong here, but it has been summoned or animated with high level magic.)
The elemental flies up through the hole in the ceiling if the library (60ft fly) and calls forth in Ignan (if anyone speaks primordial they would understand) a huge elemental, whe rides from the pyre of codices on the stone floor, towering over the adventurers. He is called by title and name, summoned to remove the encroaching humanoids: Imix, the Eternal Flame and the All-Consuming Fire, is the Prince of Evil Fire.
(OOC: if only Safeguard could defecate... he'd be shitting gears and pissing grease all over his pants now xP)
"Oh my oh my. It appears we have hell incarnate before us... Might I suggest that we leave?" Safeguard shouts broadly pointing to the rooms Vrah discovered (South Chamber, Lab Chamber, Common Catacomb)
He then casts Mirror Image and puts up a Defensive Fieldgaining 8 temporary Hit Points to bolster his defenses.
Then whoever is closest to Imix, Safeguard will attempt to implant himself between his party member and that monster.
<it's actually true that if Exul knew dispel magic was successful, he might disappear. I need to get the new module to see if it is. I have it at home, but I'm having trouble downloading it on mobile. That has the relevant stat block, but not for the reasons you've guessed. I don't think it matters, but it may have an effect depending how this combat plays out.>
<Exul speaks common too, FYI. Just said he spoke ignan because he did so out loud. He hasn't said his own name yet at this point, though. >
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Marlyth stares at the large creature with gaping mouth and bulging eyes caused by the surprising entrance of the elemental. Besides, she couldn't believe her own eyes and that is quite unexpected. She attempts to examine if it's actually an elemental being standing before the adventurers but not just a mere illusion or an impostor. Although she has infernal heritage, the creature is literally a living inferno.
"We should have let the books burn instead of enraging the fiery spirit."
<edit: I checked and Dispel magic DID have an effect, but, officially, nobody would notice it yet. *This varies from the rules of the effect in 3.5e, which is the last time I saw it in action. I learned something new.>
Marlyth stands close enough to the huge elemental to feel the heat emenating from its form. She smells the burning of paper still, but now also a sulfur-tinged odor fills her nostrils. The roar of the immense fire swells and ebbs as the pillar of flame incarnate swoosjes about flaming library... but she is unconvinced of the nature of this dread visage.
(The explanation can be found here: Sage Advice. Let's pretend that Marlyth doesn't know the effect yet. It's not her turn, so I'll post a legal action for the combat later.)
<I don't think its spoiling anything to say edit {clarity}: EXUL is here by way of plane shift (explicit in the text). This has a duration of instantaneous, being unaffected by dispel magic. The spell in question is a curios thing for reasons that would be spoilers. edit: incidentally, the earth elemental was conjured by Exul and dispel magic would have removed him.>
Marlyth can react on this turn to the successful investigation check she just made, though not use another action until the next round.
(ooc: that was Marlyth's 2nd round turn, so after Exul goes, round 2 is over and round 3 begins, correct?)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Weneon has become bored disarming steles and decides to head back down and join the fight (acrobatics to swing down in melee with the fire monster)

Assuming a dash is needed to make it there (35 speed) she'll use step of the wind and then take the dodge action when she arrives saying "Thought this was handled already!"
Calner will realize the library is lost if there are now two fire elementals intent on burning books and call out a warning to his companions before moving on.
"There's no chance to save the library against two elementals and maybe more on the way! I'm going to check the other rooms up here!"
After shouting his warning Calner will move and Dash to run around the hole on the 2nd level and proceed into the next chamber of the barrow.

so.. the one with 1 active stele or the one with 2 active steles? Does Calner have a medallion?
I don't actually care about the traps at this point, just know that all the rooms on the second floor have been uncovered - there is a knocked-out red wizard up there though, and some gold plates that are - gold (unless one of you grabbed them) but otherwise, the 'onward' is on the third floor (remember these floors enumerate DOWN)... unless you're looking for another way to get there besides through any fire elementals.

(ooc: yes, Calner has a medallion and is looking for stairs leading downward... there has to be a way down besides a hole in the floor that wasn't there a few moments ago)
