Rohuzarcan't connect with his first swing, but his backswing cross slashes the surface of the central mass of the aberration. His exhilaration is short-lived, however, as the creature's blood flashes white and arcs, sending an electric jolt through his weapon, dealing 1 lightning damage back to the ranger.

Abandoning any attempt to hide from an eye monster, Grugga tears into the fray with a battlecry. As he rounds the hallway, he crushes a purple crystal into glowing dust, which coats his sword like jagged crystal spines (bonus action branding smite). "On your left!" He cries, prompting Raisat to give him some room. With one hand on his hilt and one hand on the lower (dull) part of his blade for leverage, he lunges toward the aberration like the strike of a scorpion's tail (action attack: 12 to hit, rolled in game log). He follows up by throwing his weight into the blade, tearing down like a lion's fang (attack 2: nat 1rerolled with inspiration for 27 to hit). He gives Raqisat a nod and takes a step back to give the whip warrior room for his own attacks.

Raqisat and Aubreycontinue to assault the creature. Whether it is shock at the monster's disgusting appearance or the chaotic, close-quarters fighting, they once again fail to connect on their attacks.
The pale, floating eyeball recovers from its surprise and turns its ire upon Rohuzar. Three tentacles lash out, their ends covered in long, sticky barbs. One after the other, the tentacles slide over Rohuzar'sarmor and shieldbut fail to grasp or pierce him. Rohuzarcan feel the subtle magic of Leelan'sprotection spell guarding him against this unnatural denizen of the outer planes. On top of that, the monster seems clumsier than you would expect for some sort of unearthly super-predator [the effects of Cosette'ssuccessful bane spell]. It remains penned in between Rohuzarand Raqisat and it quivvers noticeably - though it is anyone's guess where this is a natural motion of the hovering creature, or an outward indication of something like anger or frustration.
[Nothing happens on the monster's turn that would negate Gruggaor Rohuzar'sactions.]
Gruggasqueezes past Raqisat to attack, shouting with scholarly fury. He can't connect with his first strike, but his downward stroke carves a bloody gash in the side of the creature, the crystal spines on his blade doing extra damage. It doesn't come without cost, as the electrified blood of the creature reacts with the open air, dealing 3 lightning damage back to Grugga.
Lacking experience confronting such things, Rohuzarrelies on his weapon's training to see him through. He methodically carves away at the monster with his battleaxe, his edge hitting its target twice, even carving one of the ten tentacles off of the central body. With each strike, the electric blood of the creature gives Rohuzara painful shock, dealing 8 and then another 7 lightning damage.

Hearing Grugga's direction, and then the taunting from Cosette, Raqisat releases his swords and allows them to clatter to the ground while he draws his whips instead. Adjusting his stance a bit and putting a but more of a swing into his arms, Raqisat lashes out with his whips.

The tide turns and the sheer number of attacks start to result in heavy damage to the monster.
Raqisat gets back to basics and channels his inner whipmaster, striking out and connecting twice, leaving bloody lash marks on the creature's body. Despite Grugga'ssupposition, the absence of metal doesn't protect Raq from the electric blood, which shocks him with each successful attack, dealing 5 and 7 lightning damage.
Aubreylikewise finds the mark, with both of his energy blasts arcing around Rohuzarand striking the bulbous aberration, the white flesh darkening with necrotic rot.
