The aberration wasn't carrying anything. The piece of metal it had been using to bang away on the steel doors must have been left behind when it began its pursuit of you.
It takes Leelanand Rohuzara solid hour to layout and properly examine the carcass.
[The other four may take a short rest if they like during this time. Not Leelanand Rohuzaras they are busy getting their hands dirty.]
Raqisat, after your unfortunate bodily fluids exchange with that monster, your hair is standing on end, and every time you touch something metal you get a painful (but non-injuring) electric jolt. This continues until you are able to complete your next long rest.
Leelan, after an hour you are able to document and thoroughly describe an aberration now known as a death kiss for your book and for the emperor's legions. Given open space and freedom of movement, such a monster could decimate large numbers of fighters with its long reach and blood draining electrical attacks. By luck or just good planning, your group's strategy seems to have been near-to-perfect. By blocking it inside a narrow corridor, you neutralized its many tentacles and long reach. And it seems to have been particularly susceptible to the Protection and Bane spells.

Raqisat, after your unfortunate bodily fluids exchange with that monster, your hair is standing on end, and every time you touch something metal you get a painful (but non-injuring) electric jolt. This continues until you are able to complete your next long rest.
(( You say this as if it is. bad thing. Raqisat never takes a long rest again! -- All the Hit Dice used and Raqisat is looking, more or less, close to his usual self... Plus glowy lightning eyes, staticky hair and little shocks everytime he touches a gold piece to anyone's ear! ))
When the brainy types are done making detailed notes and sketches, Raqisat approaches with his rope and suggests we tie the thing up in a nice, easily dragged bundle to drag back after we've checked everything else out. "As a side bonus, if it's not as dead as we think it'll be all tied up and all..."
"We will have to go back to the ratlings sooner rather than later and check in otherwise they may come looking. If we're trying to be friends we want to snoop around before they know we've snooped around, yes? So we should get to it, I'm thinking," Raqisat offers.
Grugga offers Raqisat a hand up from the floor and nearly lets him fall back down when he receives a painful jolt from contact. "Ouch! You're still... charged. I don't know what to do about that, but I have something for those cuts, if you need it." Grugga offers to cast cure wounds on Raqisat if he needs it. If you're good after the short rest, I'll save the spell slot.
During the short rest, Grugga spends some time mending Zap with the aid of a small crystal, which seems to vibrate the breaks, bends, and dents in the giant spinning top back into place. (Mending only takes 1 minute, so he should be able to full heal Zap in 2-8 minutes.
"Anything learned, Leelan and Rohuzar?" He calls out to the corpse investigators during the rest. He also takes some time to praise the group: "That was well-planned and well-executed, everyone. Things could have gotten hairy if it had lived a bit longer, but we really took care of that like a team of professionals. We worked together, took advantage of our strengths, and put it in a bad position. Really, really well done. Drinks are on me when we get somewhere with decent drinks..."
As for the rooms off to the side, Grugga agrees with everyone's assessment so far. "I think we should take a look in that room with the minotaur statue, at the very least. It sounds like it could be the basement of a museum, or perhaps a college. I wonder what treasures still lay down there, waiting to be saved from abandonment!"
Leelan finishes writing down the information about the death kiss, and then shares what he’s learned about the creature. He allows those who wish to to look in his manuscript.
"Indeed, Grugga. Our strategy was sound. Should you all wish to keep exploring, I wouldn’t mind at all."
"Not so bad eh?" Cosette walks out from around the corner with her prepped crossbow, propping it up onto her shoulder while Grugga and Leelan assist Raqisat. "Do them weird hugs usually end up bitin' ya in the ass like that?" She pops a brow. Though there's a hint of a smirk on her face. He was fine. While Raq did take quite the beating, she's seen him take it rougher. And it was good to know that she wasn't the only one with the ability to patch the man up.
"That was fun. Pity we couldn't chat more." Cos speaks to the creature as she steps over and weaves around the dead carcass while the boys got to work on handling it. "They were a sassy one, an' I was kinda starting to like 'em." She admits.
At Grugga's praise and declaration of drinks on him, Cosette raises her hand to him in a gesture of cheers. "Hear! Hear!" She smiles.
"Absolutely!" Cos chimes in agreement to continue their exploration. There was plenty to be curious about. "Let's see wut archeological curiosities await." She kinda of rubs her hands together. While Leelan and Grugga clearly knew their stuff, Cosette happy to provide what additional knowledge and insight she could.

As Leelan, assisted by Rohuzar, takes a variety of samples from the slain aberration, Aubrey would find a seat by a nearby wall, resting and recouperating with a satisfied smile, nodding in agrement with Grugga and the others and chuckling at Cosette's banter. As Leelan seems to finish up, the young noble stands again. "Alright team, let's head down to that altar and see what we may find." He says, nodding at Rohuzar to take the lead, ready to give him any directions needed to get there, letting Furvus scout ahead again, repeatedly using his sight to check for threats.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rohuzar nods and starts scouting ahead without another word.
He's going to move carefully, ready for traps both arcane and mundane. Knowing the creature was not suited for these tunnels, he will try to note any passages that may have been too small for it, in case he needs to backtrack to find a way around where it was banging at the "door"
Grugga follows Rohuzar and the rest of the group to the flooded corridor where the Death Kiss was attempting to break down a door. He will take up rear guard and continue dropping glowing pebbles (up to 4) at each corner so they can find their way back. He will keep his eyes out for the blunt instrument the Death Kiss was using to break down the door - he expects it to be useless, but he wants to see what an aberration was using as a tool.
"I really hope this is a college or an art museum!" He says eagerly as the group makes their way there. "Don't forget there's some sort of alarm inside! Watch out for traps."
At the mention of traps Raqisat will nod to Grugga and do his best to keep an eye out. He is once again carrying his lantern and is less careful about letting the light shine now that, hopefully, there is nothing too scary left to fight. Giant Rats, Crocodiles, typical crap doesn't worry him... The light may be enough to scare some of that away. Anything worth being scared of probably fell to the... What did they call it? Eyekiss? Probably fell to it a long time ago. "I'm a bit handy with traps and locks. Not a pro but..." Raqisat lets the rest go unspoken.
"Whatever it is I'd prefer not to have to share it with the king," Raqisat mentioned. "But unless we find some other way out I'm not seeing a way around that. For now."
Leelan pipes up as they ponder on the possibility of the door being trapped.
"I could use a bit of magic to reveal any traps…My concern is that the traps may be beyond the door. If there were traps, wouldn’t that creature have already triggered them."
Cosette falls in line with the group. While she doesn’t need light assistance in the dark, she doesn’t give anyone a hard time for making sure they themselves could see. While they focus on what they can light up, she’ll try to focus her eyesight on the darker corners and rooms. It was clear the group was skilled, with many of those skills overlapping. It appeared they had most, if not, all, possibilities covered. Cos would wait to see what they stumble upon before speculating too much. She’d have nothing to add unless she notices something the others wouldn’t.
The journey to where the beholder had been 'working' prior to your arrival is uneventful. Though the quiet and occasional dripping of the tunnel is still unsettling. You can't quite shake the feeling that every shadow cast by Raqisat's lantern is a spikey tentacle reaching from the darkness.
You first come to the destroyed outer metal door. The tunnels here are old and the scene is dominated by two huge metal doors, smashed open and ripped off their hinges. Inspecting the wreckage, you can see bits of ceramic smashed on the ground alongside the ruins of the door. It appears this door or the wall around it was once covered in some kind of porcelain decoration. There are also scorch marks on the walls, suggesting the beholder may have triggered a hidden trap in its vandalism. Careful inspection finds that any trap that may have been here is now spent and inactive.
Past these doors is a long hall, with another larger, metal door at the other end and with to dead end halls to either side. Lying in the intersection are four piles of stone with no obvious source - as if they just fell off the ceiling. But the ceiling shows no sign of damage or hidden traps. They are just four piles of rubble. The door at the end of the hall is even larger than the outer door. It shows extensive damage from where the beholder had been beating on it (a metal cudgel seemingly ripped off of a sewer grate is the culprit) but so far is hadn't done much more than mar the surface. Now, partially damaged from the attacks, the inscription on the door is difficult to read.

Rohuzar grumbles at Leelan, but it's clear he's just grumpy.
"No permanent harm. Just lay on my stomach to sleep for a bit."
He will look to Aubrey when it's brought up that they may continue on to the treasure beyond where the death kiss had been.
