"He is going to be a problem if we just let him go. But it is a waste of time questioning him. We have a set time limit and to many others after the same thing as us." Guilim says as he gives the boy a look and walks away, turning to give one last sour look over his shoulder.
At mention of the innkeep and the stolen liquor, he blanches. "No... come on. You can't...". Upon realizing you can and will he blurts out. "Ok. You want to know where they're going? They figure the ranger skipped straight back to their hidey hole in Maggie's Wood. So they're riding straight north until they get there. They're gonna look for this ranger nest in the wood. And if he ain't there, they're gonna make the rangers who are there tell them where he is. They'll be past Northbridge by now and heading north. You all don't even have horses. You're too far behind."
"Come on. I just saved you time. Just let me go."

The young man's pleas falling on deaf ears, you drag him back to the John Ziebart at the inn. As you depart, the last you here is the kid trying to barter with the innkeep with a few silver pieces to avoid having the local guards called.

At this point I need to ask for a CON save DC 10 from everyone to avoid 1 point of exhaustion. As a reminder your last couple of days have gone: woke up; interrogated fisherman; planned boat trip; rescued girl; fought hydra; late night/early morning interrogation; rushed long rest; got up; butchered hydra; walked back and forth across town collecting earnings; forced march overnight 30 miles to Midway.
If you would like to make the saves first, and see who is just tired and who is legitimately exhausted, before you decide what to do next, that is fine.

Grugga releases a jaw-cracking yawn and tries to stifle it with the back of his hand. "I'm tired, but I'd rather press on and sleep in Northbridge than mess up my sleep schedule. What about the rest of you? And what of our plan? It sounds like 3 separate, competing entities are ahead of us by a ways. A professional ranger won't be easy to find - I think our best bet, since we're behind, is to focus on unraveling what happened rather than try to catch up and yet know nothing more than anyone else there. What do you all think?"
Guilim stretches as he looks back to the boy, shaking his head as he moves to walk away from the inn. "Shall we venture on before our competitors get to far ahead?"
"Well", Grugga starts, "Give me five minutes and I'll be ready to hit the road again."
Grugga takes a few minutes to perform his daily 'sun salute'. Once again he invites anyone to join him but doesn't expect any takers. Finally, he rejoins the group, "I just had a thought. Midway connects to the lake by river, right? Surely someone in town owns a boat, or there might be small harbor at the mouth of the river. What if we hire a boat and ride up to Shelley. It'll be quicker than walking, some of us can get some sleep, and we can keep an eye out for the shack on the way."

The team decides to explore Grugga's idea about a boat. Though Leelan begins to feel the effects of all his exertion, the rest of the group is enervated with a new destination and a goal in front of them. A quick query of the guardsmen informs them there are no such boats here in Midway, but that there is a village called Anchorage on the lakeshore, about 4 miles north. Its mostly a fishing village but it has a large dock for a village of its size and you might have some luck there.
Taking the trail north out of Midway, you follow the Midway Run as it winds through fields and scrub forest until emerging at the dunes and sandy hills of the lakeshore. It is still somewhat early in the morning, perhaps 8:00 when you arrive. Anchorage sits at the mouth of the Midway Run. The small river widens into a large pond at its delta, with a break wall separating it from the waves of the Great Lake. Nestled close to the shores of this pond are twenty homes and a large barn-like structure, which based on the smells coming from inside is involved in the fishery business.

There are a pair of rowboats tethered to the dock. The only other boat in port at the moment is a fishing trawler which seems to have just come in. 30 feet long, the vessel is a maze of ropes and pulleys, with a main sail and a pair of large nets which can be lowered from either side. An older human man with white hair and a blue coat barks order at two younger men while they porter baskets of fish out of the storage bin in the center of the deck, down the dock and into the larger building.

"Perhaps we should try our luck with that fishing trawler?" Aubrey suggests to Rohuzar and the others as they arrive at the dock of Midway. Aubrey will give the help action in any dealings with the old man.
Grugga leans into his group, "Does anyone know how to sail something like that? I sure don't... But maybe we can hire the whole team to take us up. How expensive can it be?"

Rohuzar heads over to the fishermen.
“Pardon interruption. I am backtracking path of errant cour-ier,” He enunciates all of this so as to be certain of clarity. “Ve believe she stay in fisherman’s shack near betveen here and Northbridge. Can you assist, or know someone who can provide travel up the bank to look?”

“Enough. This matter is keeping us from job. Go get innkeep. Ve turn over this boy. Then ve leave.”

"Yes, excellent idea Grugga, it could prove difficult to find transportation but I think it is certainly worth a try." Aubrey says appreciatively.
