"Didn't expect much and found even less in the grates," Raqisat quietly reports. Then, pushing some crates together to make a makeshift lounge chair, Raq gets his relax on...
[DM: I am trying to understand the plan. You intend to smear this on your allies' hands, to replicate blood and fake the appearance that they have cut themselves. But how do you invision the timing to work? In most cases, wounds don't appear until after a blade is applied. In this case, won't the 'blood' already be on their hands before the knife is used? Are they going to have to hide their 'bloody' hand and then fake cut themselves? I am trying to figure out if rolls will be required and if so, what kind (deception; sleight of hand, etc).]
((Yeah, sorry. It's one of those crazy DnD plans that comes from looking at your spell list and thinking "you know, that just might work!" Basically, the way I read Magical Tinkering is, I can use Magical Tinkering to make an object (which means I can't cast it directly on skin) look like blood. The object needs to be able to fit into the palm of a hand and feel like nothing or feel like blood so it doesn't tip the descendants off. I use Magical Tinkering now to make the object in someone's right hand look like blood, as if they cut their hand with a knife.. then, when they shake hands, they don't actually trade blood (it's like keeping your fingers crossed when making a promise). The trick is, we need to keep the palms of our hands hidden until we "cut" them - I figure balling our hands into fists or putting them into a glove or into a pocket would work fairly well.))
((The plan is crazy and would be easier to explain in an in-person game. If it doesn't make sense, just forget I mentioned it))
Grugga sits back on one of the boxes and spends the time tinkering on Zip and Zap, repairing any dents, cuts, or scratches in their frames with mending. He himself did not take any damage in the fight, so he looks quite comfortable as he waits for everyone to rest up before seeing sewer royalty again.
((The plan is crazy and would be easier to explain in an in-person game. If it doesn't make sense, just forget I mentioned it))
((Basically you want a small, easily concealed object like, say, a leaf. You want to make that leaf 'appear' to be blood. So then when it comes time for the bloody handshake ceremony each character could pretend to cut their hand while actually just slipping this leaf into it so it looks like their hand is bloodied when they shake.. Yes? More or less you're trying to do a Minor Illusion of a cut and bloody hand but via a more 'mechanical' or special effects type process.))
Cosette keeps her ears open for Grugga's optional plan. It was an idea worth considering should they be 'paraded' around for a blood bonding ceremony. She liked where he was going with it and would give him a nod in acknowledgement, encouraging him to reserve some of his own plan for him.
"What were not findin' could tell us just as much." Cosette helps herself to Raqisat's makeshift lounge chair as he finishes putting the first one together. Plenty of crates to add for a second one of his own. "Wut I'm not findin' is food an' med supplies." She notes patting a finger on her nose as if she knows something, then pulls out her flute. "If so, I may 'ave a long term solution." Cos winks. A potential bargaining chip. Settling in, she'd bring her instrument to her lips and begins to play for the duration of their short rest.
Leaning back and resting against some creates, the young noble smiles appreciatively to Cos as she starts playing her flute. There was not much entertainment and culture to be found on this expedition and to him Cos had been a most valuable addition to the team, making this mission beyond civilization much more bearable.
Leelan, being entirely unharmed from the encounter, but having spent a fair bit of magic during the endeavor, decides to sit down with Grugga and help him with his plan in any manner he can. He can cast the Minor illusion cantrip, if that could prove useful, though its use seems fairly limited.
Grugga hums along to some of the more popular tunes that he might have heard growing up in northern Pentwater. "Say, Cosette. Do you know the song about a rain so hard that it breaks the levee? I always liked that one, and I recently learned that they sing it in other countries too."
Grugga plots along with Leelan to maximize the chances of success of his deception by using the Gnome's magic as well as his own.
Every once in a while during their time there, Grugga opens a bundle of cloth in one of his pockets to make sure that the chalky blue crystal is still safe, then he wraps it back up.
An hour passes and the party has time to bind wounds, meditate, or just relax.
Then Aubrey'sraven materializes in the room to deliver its report.
Aubrey:
You receive a mental info dump from Furvus.
He had followed Elton and the others back to the main entrance chamber. All of the members of this subterranean community were called to a meeting. Elton and the one in the green cloak took the floor. Altogether Furvus counted 14 humans and 3 dwarves. There were another dozen giant rats hanging around. The meeting was highly agitated and the following concerns were raised. You can hear the voices played back in your mind, as Furvus links his alien memory to yours.
The explorers destroyed the aberration and did so easily. They are powerful.
They would be excellent recruits, but they resist. They have ties elsewhere which they refuse to break.
They know too much. They know we're down here, they've seen our tunnels and paths under the city. If they are not bound to us, we will never be safe. They will betray us to their masters.
The meeting then devolved into arguments. Everyone who wished to do so had a chance to speak.
They had trouble deciding what to do. Elton and the man in the green cloak were at odds. Elton argued that the explorers had to be killed if they would not join the community. The man in the cloak worried that too many would die in the fight... that they would destroy themselves for fear the explorers might one day betray them to destruction. The larger group was split between these positions, with some calling for blood and others urging caution.
Eventually they settled on waiting. For now, the explorers were contained. They would keep them locked up for now and see if time solves this issue for them. Perhaps they will become more agreeable after a few days imprisoned, or be easier to dispatch once they run low on food and water.
As Furvus returned, Elton and the others had returned as well and were starting to fortify the hall and doors outside.

Aubrey gets a grim but not surprised expression as Furvus reports on his mission, then, fearing a spy listening in, the young noble uses the eldritch powers of his talisman to gently enter the minds of the others in the team respectively to convey what his familiar has found out (See spoiler above). "So, we should perhaps focus on finding our own way out of here now." He says quietly, looking around at the others. He would then send send Furvus to scout beyond the door to see if there are in fact any guards there.
"Perhaps I should try to see the king?" Raqisat offers in a whisper. "Suggest that you all are pretty squeamish about exchanging blood and giving up your emperor but that given time, with me talking them up and by them showing good will and trust by sticking to the agreement and all, I think it'll turn around?"
"Admittedly I'm not so good with the words and all like Cosette or Aubrey... But even if I am not able to sway him I can..." Raqisat pauses, thinks for a moment, then shrugs. "Oh, nevermind. I guess we already have eyes outside the door to see defenses and such."
The door to the storage room where you are resting is, indeed, blocked. It doesn’t seem to be locked as there is some give in the door, but it resists opening.
Aubrey’s familiar is able to confirm the door, which opens out, is blocked by a crossbeam sitting in notches on either side.
The narrow hall outside is open empty, but there is a flurry of activity outside the next door. A group of 8 sewer folk are in the larger hall working on the door. They are reinforcing the door with more wood and stacking boxes against it. They are also setting up barricades 35’ from the door on either side, for cover for crossbows.

When the information was shared, Cosette would review her maps drawn up thus far and ask Aubrey to continue Furvus' scouts to figure out what other rooms could be around them.
A few quiet moments after his share of words, Raqisat would find Cosette helping herself, rummaging through his sack. "'Course I left mah shovel an' pick axe wit Bruno..." She mutters mostly to herself as she pulls out his hammer. Not that she was actually concerned about the tools, or being able to get out, eventually. She knew how resourceful these men can be. "Pardon me gentlemen, I'mma 'bout teh get real loud." She walks over.
Cosette stands before the door and calmly clears her throat then proceeds to slam the hammer against it. She wanted to grab someone's attention. "Aye!" Slam! "Ayo! Aye!" Slam! Slam! "She's right, you know?" Raqisat will shout out while working on the door at some point when Cosette has taken a pause in her attempt to persuade and/or distract. "I mixed blood with you! "So... We don't want them to open the door to let me out so the rest of you can rush them and get us all free?" Raqisat asks, perhaps a bit sarcastically. "Okie dokie..." He then shrugs and steps away from the door and goes back to lounging on his makeshift chair.
