As Leelan looks around, he suddenly perks up. "Eureka!", he exclaims, readjusting his glasses. "I believe this footprint might belong to quarry. It certainly seems like the right proportions, though he seemed to be wearing something on his feet. Rather unorthodox if you’ll allow me saying. Ogres tend to be rather crude and uncouth in their choice of accoutrement."
He moves to follow the double-back footprints and then strays to the north side of the road. "It appears the tracks pick up from hear. I am rather concerned by this brute’s sudden flash of insight." He then points north-west. "The tracks lead this way.", says with a grin on his face, rather proud of himself.
Guilim frowns at the idea of letting the three in on their original job. The Red Brands already took a significant cut of the pay they would earn and now they would have to give 75 percent to the other hand that clearly only composed of one person that seems worth a damn. When he gets a chance he will pull Rohuzhar to the side.
"Are we really letting them in on our job? As it is we are wasting time on a job that has a time limit. If they can't handle the ogre then they clearly don't deserve the pay."
Rohuzar shakes his head. “I think ve let them know they’re out of their depth after this. This collaboration vill end there. But I not body to let a day go to vaste.”
Your allies are embarrassed to have missed the ogre's trail to the north but they fall in with you. You follow the trail through patchy woods and meadows to the northwest. It gradually turns west and soon you find yourselves on an old trail. The earth is packed down hard and in places there are remnants of old stonework. Leelancontinues to guide the group on the ground while Zip flies overhead, occasionally coming back to report... pretty much nothing to Grugga.
The old forest road approaches the edge of a field, and a farmhouse beyond. Though it appears momentarily to be your destination, the road turns north before the treeline and the ogre's trail follows it.
Up ahead, more daylight is getting through and there seems to be a clearing. There is also a scent in the air... smoke. And something dirty... a gross musky odor.
At this moment, Zip flies down and hovers in front of Grugga, its sign that it has spotted something of interest.

Grugga interrogates his invention, "Is it a humanoid? Is it a beast? Is it footprints? Is it an ogre? Are there fewer than 5? Is it farther than 500 feet ahead? Was it moving our direction? etc." to narrow down what they're up against.

"Well," he tells his allies, "There's an armed ogre less than 500 ahead and it's not moving. Think we can get a jump on it? Or think it realized we're following it?"
He orders Zip to fall in and maintain a 20 ft distance to his east and enter battle mode.
You can tell there is a clearing up ahead and the path you are on leads straight there. There is a small bit of smoke rising, as if from a chimney or a campfire. Zip seems to be indicating the ogre is up ahead. From what you can see from here the clearing looks to be at least 100ft across. There is a small hill in the center. You need to get closer to see more than that.
I will need to know how you proceed.
Do you split up to surround the clearing? Where does everyone approach from? Where do you send the three amigos?
Do you all go in together? What is the marching order?

The three approach you. "Looks like this is it," says Cliff, drawing his scimitar and looking through the trees trying to catch a glimpse of what awaits you in the clearing. Kurt says nothing, nervous fingering the daggers in his bandolier.
Kiteborne answers Rohuzar's question. "I can't tangle the ground, but if I see him I can try a few things to slow him down."

Aubrey would try to stealthily approach the clearing with the smoke rising from the north together with Grugga and Kurt, ready to blast the ogre with eldritch magic. Perception: 13 Stealth: 8
The party splits up. Guilimand Leelanwait for the others to encircle the clearing and then you all slowly advance....
You see an open space in the forest. In the center/north of the clearing there is a raised patch of earth. Some broken stone and collapsed walls betray that this was once the site of a building of some sort - perhaps a tower or a hunting outpost. The old forest road leads right up to this mound. The remains of a large campfire is still smoking and steaming atop this mound. It looks to have been doused very recently. There is no sign of the ogre, or any other creatures at the moment.
Rohuzar:
You have eyes on both other groups, though there are trees between you. There is no sign of the ogre from your vantage. To the north, between you and Grugga'sgroup, there is a patch of waist high ferns that might make movement difficult (difficult terrain). (It is the brighter green section of forest floor on the map).
Cliff looks at you, silently asking for direction on whether or not to advance.
Gruggaand Aubrey:
You can see Rohuzaroff to your west but your view of Leelanand Guilimis blocked by the little hill.
There is no sign of the ogre. To the immediate west of Gruggaand Kurt, there is a patch of waist high ferns that would make movement difficult (difficult terrain) (the brighter green patch of forest floor on the map). Also, the edge of the small hill is difficult terrain as you need to climb up about a 3 1/2 foot embankment to get to the top.
Though you cannot see anything... you both hear something. Heavy breathing. It sounds close but you cannot see where it is coming from. And there is a powerful odor... like a pile of dirty laundry was left in a swamp for a month and then ate some bad cheese. Kurt picks up on this as well and looks terrified.
Guilimand Leelan:
You advance straight up the old forest road. You can see Rohuzaroff to your west but your line of sight to the others is blocked by the hill. To your immediate east is there is a patch of waist high ferns that would make movement difficult (difficult terrain) (the brighter green patch of forest floor on the map).
There is no sign of the ogre from your vantage point. The ogre tracks clearly follow the road toward the little hill, making no obvious effort to conceal themselves.
Kiteborne creeps along beside you, looking to Guilim, then Cliff, then Rohuzarfor some sign of what to do next.
