Neth sends a blast of energy crackling through the water, and it impacts the creature, the boat going still as its attention is drawn to the tiefling. Neth takes off, but the creature is in its element, and outpaces him, catching up and attacking.
The creature hurts Neth and he suddenly goes blank, eyes wide and frozen blue, as he raises his hand and a torrent on blue flame poles out of him around the creature.
Shards of ice form in it's wake, and the creature's grip loosens slightly, but it's still holding on to Neth.

Stena looks down into the water at the confusing tableau. She considers it a moment and her options to assist before shaking her head and gesturing to the others to start poling away again. She says to Galingal,
"That thing will come back after us when it finishes him, good with some distance." She pauses and adds, "If you can hit it with another of those blasts from before it may even save Neth."

Seeing Neth jump over at Stena’s command, too late Lia says, “No, what do you think you’re…?!… …Ugh!…”. She moves to the rail at the side of the boat but the fight has already moved under the ship. Feeling the boat rock against the thing’s attacks, she closes her eyes and whispers silently to the thing attacking the boat…
Cast a Spell action (dissonant whispers): WIS save DC13 or take 10 (psychic damage) and move away (provoking opportunity attacks), or half and no move on a save.

The tentacles writhe and wrap, grasping water made cohesive, and with a might wrench, sunder the creature and the water goes loose and quiet around the tiefling.

The position would be about where the KT boat was when they jumped overboard and brought the elemental creature up underneath them. You don't see any other of the creatures around, but what might it have been guarding down there?
