Galingal curses as the pebbles turn to rocks and rocks turn to boulders as the hillside comes crashing down. He does his best to dodge through the mess.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thom responds to Jimjar and Sloopidoop "Fff-luum--ffss. Flumphs. Right. Got it! Right we have similar creatures up on the surface. It's S K U N K S. No "o". Flying skunks yeah?!"and he chuckles.
"Around the lake to the village. Right." and he also would've agreed to travel fast to get there on this day vs. taking a rest.
"GAH!" he yells as he sees the various sized rocks come at him. "Some type of avalanche?!" he yells but is talking to Stena for some reason. Like he thinks she'd know if it's an avalanche. lol
Stena gets clobbered for 5 bludgeoning as she can't get out of the way of the rocks, and Thom gets nailed as well, for 11 bludgeoning.
As the last of the loose rocks splash into the water, and the echoes begin fading, some of you can hear what sounds like a murmur, but soon becomes clear is a flapping, as a swarm of flying creatures descends.
Dozens of the creatures descend from the ceiling, at at least its height beyond the range of your darkvision has given you a chance to see them coming.
((Rather than mob you with them all on the same initiative count, half will go on 11, the other half will delay until double that the following round (22), and they'll keep those positions going forward. Initiative kicks off when there are a few within darkvision range, but more are coming behind them.))
Thom takes a few rocks to the body, one in particular hitting his face, maybe breaking his nose. "FORK!"
Thom is pretty preoccupied with his injuries as he looks over at Stena and the others who also seem to have taken a licking from the rocks. He isn't really paying attention to the swarm of flying creatures, not yet anyway...
@Spider, would you allow Thom to use his second wind before the initiative kicked off?
((@Thom, sure... though you don't have a lot of other things competing for bonus action, but if it was in response to taking rock damage, that sounds reasonable. Roll initiative too! I borked the rolls above, but I'm going to go off of what I had initially.))
((@ Lia, there are more than a dozen visible, but more coming out of the darkness behind them.))
@Spider, yep it would've been him immediately using the bonus action after taking the rocks to the face. Thom brings his hand up to his broken nose and sets the break. *crack*"FOOOOOORK!" and he is now able to breathe a bit better. (Second wind 9)
Thom says to Lia "huh? Wait... outnumbered? What you mean madam... GAH!!"and he looks up and sees what she sees. His eyes widen as he blows blood from his nose and preps his bow.
((Ugh, it's really hitting me with re-rolls today. Had Galingal at 13 and Stena at 10 initially. If I were to go back and change them to reflect current rolls, it'd probably roll again, so we'll stick with initial.))
((I've got him at -1 from full. Damage was 10, heal 9, unless I missed something!))
Thom now gets what Lia was talking about when she said outnumbered. "Dammit! Should we run for it!?"again he yells this out loud but more talking to Stena. He's looking for guidance from the dwarf, especially in battle.
For whatever reason that might be.
Thom starts to retreat and hopefully head lakeside away from these creatures, with his bow drawn and readied to shoot should any of the creatures come within melee range of any of the party members, or if a party member shoots a missile. (if I can only have 1 readied variable, it will be the getting in melee range)
((It was the goofed rolls in one of my many posts. Stena took 10 and Thom took 8, on the re-roll it had them both at 10.))
The party is somewhat out in the open, lake on their right, slope of rubble on their left. The pathway is relatively clear, most of the rocks that bounced down on them carried past and splashed into the water, but they are single file, and if the path enters a tunnel or otherwise limits the approach of flying creatures, it's beyond darkvision range.
((Is Thom wanting to push forward ahead then? You'd be able to use 15ft of movement to move past Galingal, but would have to use a dash to make it past Sarith and Shuushar at the front of the party.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lia is happy with generally continuing the way they were headed. But isn’t in a huge rush about it. From the look of these things, they have a decent turn of speed about them either way, given their double-dash approach from nowhere!
She uses her bonus action to heal herself with healing word: regaining 7 hp.
Then uses her action to cast vicious mockery at the nearest creature to her, saying, “Raaah! Oh no you don’t!…”. ((WIS save DC13 or take 3 (psychic damage) and disadvantage on next attack)).
She moves as far as she can the way the party were heading, but doesn’t push past anyone necessarily, unless there is space to pass easily. She’s just making a careful ranged retreat.
