"Thank you very much, ma'am," Finn says with a smile. He grabs his key and the address from the counter, then turns toward his party. "I figure I'll go explore the town since we have some time to kill. Meet back up at the Mirror Moon Inn in an hour or so to discuss preparations for the first test?"
"Can I come with you," Valor asks Finn her expression hopeful. "I...this is my first time away from home and," she looks off from the half-elf. "I won't be a bother I promise," she adds smiling softly.

"I'll go with you, if you'll wait a moment," Lorick says to Finn. He turns his attention to Edelina. "Ms. Winfield, was it?" Lorick asks. "About these books. Are we allowed to borrow them? I've just begun reading, you see, and I don't want to stop now."
"Oh no dear!" Edelina shakes her head at you, Lorick, "I'm afraid that none of these texts may be removed from the facilities... I don't think you'd like to find out what happens should you try! I don't work for the library otherwise I would make a special exception for such a handsome little gnome!" The way that she says "handsome" is a little like an aunt to a young nephew.
A bit dejected, Lorick responds, "Of course. I understand." He leaves the book he was reading on the table he was reading at, then rejoins the group. "Ready to go, I guess." He takes one last look at the library, with a gleam in his eyes that may or may not be tears.
Finn gives Lorick a consoling pat on the back. "Sorry, friend." Addressing the group as a whole, "Y'all are all welcome to come with me, of course. The more the merrier!" And with that, he sets off out of the library in the direction indicated by Madam Edelina.
"Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass, and I'm bread-bound~" Finn sings, quickly plucking on his lyre as he walks. "I hope y'all are okay with music. I sing a lot. I find it helps bring smiles to others' faces, even if just for a short while."
Beorro grabs his key and runs after the others. “Wait for me!” He calls.
I’d probably get lost in a place like this if I don’t stay with the group. Beorro ran as fast as his halfling legs could run and caught up to the others just as s they arrived at their destination.
The entire group heads north-west towards the bakery, walking the streets of Franca and taking in the sights. At this point, the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds have died down - no longer is everyone rushing to get to the library - and instead everything has slowed to the evening-time traffic.
As your newly-formed motley crew twists through the city to get to the bakery, you pass by a small side-street with a massive, sprawling inn. It seems to attach directly to the impressive coliseum in this district. As you walk you can see a carriage park before the inn, and as a well-dressed man steps into it with the aid of his butler.
Beorro and Valor you both notice as he steps in that his coin purse tumbles out of his pocket and smacks into the dirt - but it's clear neither he, nor his butler does. Do you do anything?
Beorro runs over to the man and his butler. “Oh.. Excuse me! Sir!” He picks up the coin purse and offers it to the man with a friendly smile. “I believe you dropped this.”
"Hm?" The man turns, as does the butler. It's almost strange how alike they look. Powdered wig, pale face, mole drawn with paint at the corner of their mouths. "Ah, thank you," The noble says, reaching to grasp the purse from you, Beorro, "A kindly soul is rarely forgotten."
The man's hand dips into the purse, and pulls free a single piece of Platinum currency, holding it out to you.
Beorro, the tree on the coinpurse is very pretty. Pretty tree. But you're more interested in the shiny in your hand. Platinum is worth quite a lot!
The group continues on their way to the bakery, curling through the streets until you reach one of the affordable housing districts. It's mostly rowhousing here, with the occasional shop peeking out between a sandwich of homes. It takes a bit of looking, but Valor notices the Sweetenrolle Bakery before anyone else.
The bakery looks decrepit, falling apart. The sign that holds over the door to denote the name of the establishment is heavily worn, and one of the chains holding it up has come loose making the sign drift and flutter in a light breeze. There's a sign on the door that reads CLOSED TODAY. There's a date written under it - today, the 3rd of the Sisters - but there are also several other dates, each crossed out. 2nd of the Sisters. 1st of the Sisters. 16th of the Warrior's Flail. 15th of the Warrior's Flail. Five days total since this place seems to have been open.
"Hmm... This is a little concerning..." Finn thinks aloud. "We could try to get inside and see what's going on... See if anyone around here knows...? It seems pretty destitute, though... Not really in a position to help with that..." Each thought trails off as he wonders what to do. He finally focuses on his group around him. "What do y'all think? Should we concern ourselves with this or just prepare for the test tomorrow? I don't want to hurt your chances."
As Lorick taps on the door you all spot some movement inside. In a few moments, the movement comes closer and through the frosted windows you're able to make out the shape of an older, homely woman making her way to the door - Finn recognizes this woman as the baker. She pokes her head against the glass, framing her eyes with her hands as if it might help her to make out the people outside, and then she disappears from view. Soon you hear the unlocking of a door, and it opens to reveal the baker woman.
In the dim streetlight and the warmth of the sunset you can see the shadows under her eyes highlighted, and the wrinkles that carve around her mouth and eyes. Her hair is greyed and frayed, and she looks like she's been having long days for a long time. "Good evening dears," She smiles somewhat, and it brightens as she recognizes Finn, "I'm afraid... I'm afraid we're not open at the moment. Maybe... Maybe tomorrow."
