Beorro, the two rats that you can see turn their heads towards you, and you notice a strange glint in their eyes that seems just as unnatural as the chanting words that you can make out through their squeaking. They listen to you, they understand you -- and those two rats, they move to run into the darkness.
Finn, the two rats that attacked you squeak and move to run away at Beorro's words, leaving your range. Would you like to make an attack of opportunity against one of them?
Finn, you can see as the rats flee into the darkness - not back to where they came from, but down the left dogleg of the room.
Valor and Finn, the three rats around Valor have stilled somewhat, not escaping as the other two did, but they don't seem as ravenous as they were before.
Lorick You stand at the doorway, hearing the sound of a cracking whip, and Finn's voice singing a tune that causes the room below to ignite in a purple glow. Beorro steps in front of you and calls out to the rats, seeming to have some kind of effect on them, but you can't see much of the room from where you are.
Lorick looks at Beorro, then at the rats. He sighs. "You must be the one that cares for allies. The question is, are we your allies, or are the rats? Guess we'll find out soon enough." He heads downstairs and uses prestidigitation to light one of the light sources Christophus told them about. (The one on the desk if I can see it with my darkvision. If not, one of the closer ones.)
You light the lamp on the desk, bringing into view for all the barrels and crates at the back of the room directly before you.
Suddenly, all four of you here a louder sound, still a screeching and skittering rat but... Different. Beorro, you hear the difference most clearly, as breaking through the chant of Get Them Get Them Get Them you hear "Return to the front you fools!" The words are coherent, a sign of greater intelligence than is common in rats. 11
In response you hear two rats - you suppose the ones who ran on your command - respond back another chant: Out out out out out out -- and then their voices drift away, the rats escaping by some method you can't quite see.
Round 2 - 6 Seconds Gone By Valor - Finn - Rats - Beorro - Lorick - Rat Leader
More light has been cast in the room from the purple glow of Faerie Fire, to the lamp that Lorick has lit, bringing into view not more rats - but barrel after barrel of something. Three rats, glowing purple with Finn's Faerie Fire surround Valor, but seem less sure of themselves than they did before - they don't seem to be baring their teeth, as much as they seem ready to run. But... There's something not quite right about this. Beorro can hear it clearly, but the rest of you just have a sense of something bigger hiding in the darkened portion of the room.
Finn and Lorick are the only two that are able to see the rat on the back barrel. No one can see the two rats in the left part of the room.
Valor You are surrounded by three rats which glow purple, making them very easy to see. They don't seem as ready to attack, but you hear something big in the darkened leg of the room. You have your whip in one hand, and the lamp in the other, casting a glow around yourself.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Finn will move forward to B6 to have full view of the room. Locating the apparent leader of the rats, he sings "Great King Rat died today~" casting Vicious Mockery.
Valor, nothing responds to your attempts at persuasion, though you can't be sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing.
Finn, you move and catch in the glow of purple down the back of the room a hulking figure atop a barrel. It's about the size of ten rats tossed into a bag of matted, wet fur, with red eyes that manage to pierce you through the darkness.
Wisdom Save: 16
Finn, your words seem to roll right off of the massive thing you see before you, and now it seems to have your scent...
The rats around Valor crouch somewhat, seeming both afraid and conflicted. They don't attack, or move -- but they do seem to be ready.
Meanwhile, the rat that Lorick and Finn can see on the back barrels skitters off of them, and you all hear the sound of something splashing. As it hits the floor, something splatters down with it that's difficult to make out. The small creature runs towards the back of the room.
Beorro You were able to see a couple of rats around Finn run away after your attempts at persuasion, and then watch as Finn disappears from the base of the stairs. You can't see much from where you are, but if you go down the stairs you'll be able to see the space around Valor, lit up by the lantern, and the space around the desk, lit by the lamp.

Beorro responds to Lorrick and the rest of the group, "Don't worry friends I'm on your side, I promise. But these rats seem to be fighting against their will. Under a spell maybe?... I can't tell. Something is back there commanding them, and it is far more intelligent then a normal rat. Can anyone see it?"
To the rats he says, "This is your last chance. I want to spare you, but my friends here are less inclined. Turn on your leader or flee! You've been warned."

Beorro reaches behind him to unfasten his quarterstaff from the backpack he is wearing. He holds it at the ready and descends the stairs into the lit area near Valor trying to get a better view of the room.

Lorick walks over near Finn and looks down the long end of the room. Upon seeing the gathering of rodents, he says "It's time to sleep," while waving his staff.
Lorick, Finn, and Beorro, you all watch as a cloud of sparkling dust appears around the rats, covering the entire back section of the room and clinging to the rats. The small rats all waver for a moment, and then collapse into unconsciousness.
The giant rat shakes off the dust, and hops down from the top of the barrel with an unappealing 'thunk' of fur and muscle. It looks over to you all, eyes glinting in the dim purple glow coming from the barrels and rats, perhaps thinking -- and then it turns, and runs through the back wall, where you can barely make out a small hole, just big enough for it's head - the rest of it's body squeezes and squishes, popping through with relative ease.
Lorick turns to Beorro. "You wanted them alive. They're asleep for a little less than a minute now. I advise picking them up and taking them out before they awaken. Be discrete. It's a crowded room up there." He turns to the rest of the group. "I think we should see what mess the rats might have left behind, and clean what we can before returning to Christophus. As for that large rat..." he shrugs.
“Yes good thinking Lorrick. I’ll do that.” Beorro says as he rushes over and carefully places the sleeping rats in his pack. He seals it up and heads for the door they came in. “I’ll catch back up with you guys in our room later!”
Finn goes over to investigate the hole and see if there are any distinctive tracks left by the larger rat. They seemed to be wet with some substance, and Finn attempts to identify what it was.
