"I say we let it be for now. We should definitely find out what we can about these people before taking action of any sort. But I agree with you Triäsa, we should play this by the book and let the rules of Candlekeep be our ally in this matter." Ludolf answers Triäsa, but looking also to the others, hoping for their affirmation. "And yes, a creepy rhyme indeed, I get the feeling it is contagious."
Daventry looks to Ludolf as they continue into the mansion, after greeting the Spice Twins. "So, what was Bookwyrm's private soiree with ya about? C'mon, dish!"
Fembris looks around awkwardly as you all ask about the other group, "Thanks for sticking up for me everyone. That's Parmak she is one of the high level Avowed. She has been here for a while and has risen through the ranks quickly. Very competitive she wants to be the Great Reader, it's obvious so she's a bit.... intense.... The dwarf Garlyth, he's very rude but I guess they all are, the tabaxi twins I don't know I haven't seen the around before must new additions to the gang. The elf is Vooshadi they are alright we talk sometimes when the others are not around." She leans into Davy. "But I won't let this ruin our night!"She says with a new found resolve. "Can't let the bullies win, we will eat, drink and have fun!" She says with a wide, tooth smile.
As Triäsa mentions the rules of the keep Fembris would consider it, "It's possible they would be reprimanded. Problem is it's our word against hers no one really seemed to take note of it here I don't think. Most are going to be very hesitant to speak out against Parmak... she can be spiteful.... I think you are going to need much much more to get her in any real trouble."

Ludolf listens attentively to Fembris and nods. "Yes I suspected as much. Someone should perhaps talk to Vooshadi though." He adds, looking at Daventry.
"Dish?" Ludolf repeats, looking a bit flustered and glancing over at Triäsa. "Hrm, I thought I would brief you all on that after dinner, but I guess we could do it now. Let's go into the dining room though." He says and goes in there, readying himself for presenting what could well be their next assignment.
As soon as the others have seated themselves at the dining room table Ludolf stands up again. "Yes, I guess you all might be wondering what Bookwyrm wanted to talk to me about." He pauses briefly. "He gave me a letter from my uncle Malcer telling me of a mining town called Vermeillon where all the townsfolk have mysteriously disappeared, and a Chalet Brantifax where a portal to another plane may be found. He writes that Vermeillon is near Candlekeep and suggests that I'd go there. I suggested to Bookwyrm that he would send us there and he agreed to."Ludolf says, smiling widely as he finishes. "Well, if we all decide we should go that is."He adds in a hurry, looking around at the others in hope of their approval.
In front of Ludolf at the dining room table lies a book his uncle sent, available for closer study.
The book, bound in black leather with “A Deep and Creeping Darkness” embossed on the thin spine, shows minimal signs of wear and tear other than a few pages creased through carelessness and a spot here and there. The work is neat though not flawless, containing notable spelling errors and ink blotches. It does not appear to be the work of a professional scribe. There is a hasty, hand drawn map on the front inside cover.
As well as the letter from Ludolf's uncle should anyone want to read it.
Nephew,
It pains me greatly to have to write and ask for assistance but it seems the ravages of age have sapped much of my vitality and I find myself relying on the charity of others for even the simplest of requests. It is a pitiful existence.
I will be brief. A former protégé (yes, once students came to study with me, do not be so surprised) contacted me claiming to have a way to traverse the planes of existence without ritual or spell. She claims to have found such a portal at some mansion, Chalet Brantifax. Her correspondence indicates it is located outside of an old mining town called Vermeillon. I know nothing of Chalet Brantifax but the story of Vermeillon is a rather interesting legend. Supposedly all of the inhabitants of the village slowly just disappeared. I won't bore you with my words you can read the stories yourself in the book that accompanies this missive.
I care not for the student but the promise of planar travel with no magic is perhaps to great of a find to ignore. Were I younger I would investigate this myself but alas I can barely leave my desk without coughing blood. Further more I have reason to believe Vermeillon is near Candlekeep, read the book you shall see.
Do what you wish with this information perhaps you will find what you could not in my collection.
Daventry looks over the map inside the cover of the book. "Cloud Peaks... That's south, towards Amn. Shouldn't be too terrible a trek with the wagon, though we might want to toss some sacks of hay in as cushions for the trip." She stretches out a crick in the small of her back. "Seems like a good trek, once we've had a chance to rest up and get settled here."
Triäsa rapidly answers, "Yes! I think we should go in the morning. To think, a gate to another plane!" She seems very enthusiastic about this.
"Ludolf, can I read the book? It must be filled with fascinating information!" She then pauses a moment, looking at Ludolf with a smile. "Oh, you probably want to read it too. Your uncle did send it to you... I can wait."
"Yes, it's clearly longer than Baldur's gate but not terribly far, in your good company it will seem shorter." Ludolf comments smiling to Daventry. "Well we should take the time we need to prepare before we leave I think Triäsa, like reading this book for example. You go ahead and take it, I know you're a fast reader." He says to Triäsa with a warm smile.
Fembris sits quietly as you all talk, "Oh dear leaving again so soon? Well it does seem like a reasonable course of action but I will certainly miss all of you..." She looks down a bit before continuing, "with your permission I would like to help get a few things settled here at CIA HQ. What would each of your personal rooms look like? I will have our best team work with the dimension to suit your needs and tastes. I will also see if we can move the door to another location, where would you want it placed if we can do it? You will also have to select a new password to open and close it. Too many people know the current ones."
She takes a big bite of cherry pie and washes it down with some cold milk. "This is really really great. I am going to get fat...."

Daventry smiles. "Of course, Fembris. You're the liaison between Candlekeep bigwigs and the CIA, after all!"
She thinks a moment, in thought. "This might be a bit of an ask... but I'd like a room that opens to the sea, if that's possible. Sure, it won't be the real ocean... more like Fistandia's starfield... but a room that's comfortable with windows open to a sea breeze, and maybe a balcony that overlooks the sunset and moonset over a craggy beach each day and night, whatever time it is outside the plane. A hammock and few chairs outside, a comfortable bed and full bar on the inside..." She breathes deep, eyes closed, imagining the scene. "Gods, I can't imagine a better place to put up my boots."
Ludolf chuckles."That was fast Daventry, as always with you, I'll have to think it over myself, home decoration was never my strong suit." He says smiling and winks to Triäsa. "We'll have to think of a fitting pass word too." He says while grabbing a piece of cherry pie for himself.
Triäsa playfully snatches the book away from Ludolf, "Thanks!" She says, looking at him as her smile grows bigger. "I will have to think of some way to reward your generosity!" she says with a giggle and slight blush. She quickly turns to Fembris. "I will probably have to think on a design for my space, but I have a few ideas. As for a location for the exit... well, when we request books for research purposes are we still going to have to bring them into the Pilars? Or can we bring them in here?"
She then adds, "As for passwords, what about 'Gingwatzim' for leaving? Someone that knew about us just might get that if it was the entrance word. Not many, but if someone was determined. For the entrance how about... 'Serendipity'. Just a random word. We can pick something else."
She then listens to Daventry as she describes what she would like for her space. "Oh! That sounds lovely Dav. It gives me a few ideas." As Ludolf winks at her, Triäsa looks over at him. "You are not awful at decorating Ludolf. But I could help you if you like."
Pardot thinks for a moment about his room and says, "If I could get a simple version of the star map like in the observatory that'd be great. And a room higher up as well. Please also set up a food and water bowl for Pocket."He adds as the cat circles between his legs and meows up at him. He then looks to the others and says, "Exploring another plane is something I never thought I'd experience! I wonder what the stars are like there. Anyway, I should be ready to go soon enough."
Fembris considers all of your questions and requests carefully, "I think those are fine choices all around. I am sure we can accommodate these and whatever the rest of you come up with. Next time you are here you will find yourself a small little paradise here at CIA HQ." She smiles proudly. "I am sure you can do your research here no need to go the Pillars unless you want. The knowledge of Candlekeep with the labs and resources here... the possibilities are limitless. If you're heading out tomorrow I will make sure your wagon and horses are ready on my way back to the Inner sanctum."
(Fembris is happy to assist you with anything else you need and the rest of the night is yours. The sun has set at this point. Your rooms won't be ready for a while so you will need to stay in the House of Rest till then. Sounds like back on the road in the AM just let me know when you are going to retire for the evening and I will move you along)

Triäsa says, "Fembris, if we do not need access to the Pillars for research, then perhaps the entrance for the mansion could be closer the Court of Air. Maybe between The Hearth and House of Rest in some out of the way place?" She looks around to the others to see what they think of the idea.
"So are we really agreed on going in the morning? If so I should start reading." She actually opens up A Deep and Creeping Darkness, while she is still sitting at the table where they are all eating - her own cherry pie still uneaten - and starts to read.
"Fembris I don't think we will leave as soon as tomorrow, if you could instead find me any literature regarding either Chalet Brantifax or the town Vermeillon I would much appreciate it." Ludolf says politely as Fembris is about to leave. He then leaves the reading to Triäsa, turning instead to the others trying to make pleasant conversation about their exploits, those bullies in the Court of Air and their next assignment, savoring the meal Cummin and Coriander serves them, having a few glassas of wine and finally turning in at his room in The House of Rests when the others do. Before sleep he won't resist turning a few pages in The Hunger before finally drifting off into a blissful sleep.
Assuming preparations take a few days Ludolf will go through his normal routine in Candlekeep, getting up early, morning exercise, brisk walk to the Bath House for bath and massage, breakfast at the Hearth, hopefully with the others, reading any literature Fembris finds for him, or The Hunger, and then, when Triäsa is finished with it A Deep and Creeping Darkness, lunch, hopefully with the others, walk, more reading, dinner, hopefully with the others, some more reading in bed, sleep. His raven familiar Edgar will follow him around whenever he's not finding better company with Triäsa. As before Ludolf will go on being very attentive to Triäsa, but he tries to not impose to much on her. Whenever the others seem ready to leave, likely after a couple of days, he is too.
Daventry nods. "I'm fine with a day or so to rest before we hit the road again. Perhaps Matreous will have better luck with finding a good translation guide now that he's up on his feet."
She'll focus her time on two pursuits: privately studying her tome in her room and practicing her combat routines in the mansion practice room, interleaving magic, swordplay, and the new nature of her bonded weapons.
If we’ll be around for a couple days, Pardot will spend some of his time in either cat, or maybe a spider, form stalking Parmak‘s room so that he might get a general schedule of when she’s not around so he can try to break in later and see what he can find. He spends the rest of his time in the House of Binder trying to help out if possible, sorry for making a mess before.
"I say we let it be for now. We should definitely find out what we can about these people before taking action of any sort.
