Choosing to ignore the red-haired elf for now, Morgan ponders the words flowing from Nine's beak (helping you out there). It takes just a short moment for her to realize he's introducing himself.
"Ah, so your name is Nine-While-Nine, then? My name is Morgan. Do you mind if I ask where you hail from?"
Scarlet gets annoyed when she realises that she is being ignored but tries to shrug it off. Instead she goes over to the bards and says Jeez, there's a lot of bards now. I'm hoping to be able to learn a few things about being one. It would make my father proud...... it's been a long time since that has happened. We haven't seen or talked to each other for fifty years. But anyways is there anyway one of you can teach me a little bit about this whole trade? Scarlet says cheerfully.
OOC: I've always wanted to play bard so I would to multi-class. I feel that this would be a good backstory of how Scarlet learned this trade. She seems like she would like it a lot. Just judging by her personality. Mostly because she is quite flamboyant.

"I want to pull out it's tongue so Timbity can use it as a whip."- W
Scarlet is a red haired wood elf. She is wearing a semi-formal red dress and her green cloak with silver lining. She has a beat up old scimitar at her side. She has dark green eyes and a feather in her hair. Her skin is well tanned.
Sizori replies to Yerandell "That is ummm...good to know." Her voice husky and gravelly as she speaks. "Heard rumors of this place." she began "A place to see new faces. I guess they were right." She paused for a moment taking in the surroundings. "And a lot of competition." her tone in-between disappointment and lighthearted determination as she looked at the group of bards playing at the moment. An excitedly tough challenge. She was sure of this.
Nine has answered this type of question before, and produces from his cloak a well polished silver and electrum badge, a pin bearing the crest of Neverwinter. It appears to be some form of military or watch regalia. He motions to his longbow stave, the dappled greens and browns of his clothing.
Nine shakes his head with a throaty lady’s chuckle. He holds up one finger and clicks his beak sharply. His next voice is the gruff voice of his late teacher, with a faint Eladrin accent ,
”You do not serve the man, Nine. You do not serve the city. Yours is the Neverwinter woods, a trust we have held since the city was still young. The forest is your master.”
Using the old elf’s voice has brought a slight wetness to Nine’s eyes. He caresses the intricately carved bowstave longingly, and dips his beak to his tea once more.
"Ah, I see..." Morgan replies slowly, taking a sip of her tea and watching as her Gulasch and roll finally arrive. "So...you're more like a ranger then? With only loose ties to Neverwinter?"
When Morgan notices the Kenku's reaction to the voice, she's uncertain of what to do. Rather than saying anything that might make her new friend feel worse, she simply nods her understanding and stays quiet, taking another sip of her tea.
"Oh, of course, I'd love to teach you!" she said with a smile, "Okay, here-" she takes off the strap and feels the lute. "A good bard is an entertainer, yes, but they gotta really know their instrument, y'know? It's not just an instrument, it's like another arm. You have to really feel it,"she hands Scarlet the lute. "Go on, feel how heavy it is. Pluck the strings, and all that," Inez says excitingly. She remembered the first time she got to hold her mentors viola. How the wood felt and smelled, the older bard claimed that it was a good way to be connected to the instrument.
He nods somberly. He is well aware how far his people have fallen. His fingers deftly dip into a satchel and return with a tiny block of wood. A small dagger appears in his hand and the wood is swiftly carved into an oak leaf the size of a coin. He does not look at his hands as they do this work, and hands the trinket to Morgan when it is finished.
Morgan is taken aback by the gesture. She was fascinated as she watched him carve the trinket, but she's not used to being the recipient of such gifts. She hesitantly takes it in hand, feeling the grain of the wood and inspecting the craftsmanship. Then she looks up to meet Nine's eye.
*Are you sure?* he hears in his head, *For me?*
Dang, now I want to get these two together in an actual campaign...
OOC: Actually...that's an interesting thought. Has anyone else ever thought that a thread like this might be an awesome way to assemble play-groups/parties IN CHARACTER? I think it would be a great way to get a peek into a character's flavor and playstyle, in advance of jumping into a campaign with them. Any other thoughts on that?
PS: I hope this doesn't derail the thread too badly, just had to get the thought out there. Just to be safe, I'll put all of this in a spoiler tag now that I'm thinking about it.
Hell, I’ve barely had a chance to play Nine. It’s way easier to play him online than on a tabletop.
I can totally believe that. PBP gives you the time you need to think of what sort of sounds/voices he uses to speak/respond, which makes it very compelling.
Morgan is once again taken aback, this time by the significance of Nine's words. As stoic as she normally is, at this point she has to turn away to hide the glistening in her eyes.
After a few moments to regain her composure, she responds audibly, "Thank you. I'll treasure it."
"Oh, maam, I just was in the Blackcrescent forest, and it's not a good spot to be in. Wouldn't have been in there if I didn't have to be," he tells her.
"I don't think I heard your name, by the way," he continues.

OOC: That is a great idea, I think. You'd want to be okay with people changing a few things about characters/relationships/backstories when the time came, of course, but other than that, I think that is a great idea. The only other thing to take into consideration would be levels. For instance, if you realized all of a sudden that X person's character is level 18, maybe bringing them with your level 2 character to look for magic pumpkins isn't going to be as exciting as it could be. Still great thinking, though (imo)

A look of surprise crosses Morgan's face upon recognizing the emblem from her previous travels.
"Oh, so you're a guard or soldier in service to Lord Neverember? I didn't realize he employed Kenku."
Nine shakes his head with a throaty lady’s chuckle. He holds up one finger and clicks his beak sharply. His next voice is the gruff voice of his late teacher, with a faint Eladrin accent ,

Nine nods, responding to Morgan in her own voice. “Ranger “
Morgan nods her understanding with a faint smile.
"For what it's worth, you seem like the kind of guy who'd make a pretty good one. Definitely not like most kenku I've met."

He is taken aback, hearing another voice in his thoughts, but he manages to respond. He reaches out to Morgan and closes her hand around the trinket.
”For remembering that I am a person”

Jae turns to (Cloud), smiling sheepishly.
"Oh, maam, I just was in the Blackcrescent forest, and it's not a good spot to be in. Wouldn't have been in there if I didn't have to be," he tells her.
"I don't think I heard your name, by the way," he continues.

"Some gulash sounds delicious," Jae says to (Therkla).
"How much for a bowlful?"
He still idly wonders what kind of creature she is.
And that's all I have to say about that.
