"Damn, I recognize that Daveth..." - Telurion whispered to his companion as soon as he saw the ripped map case on the ground, with its three embroidered picks and large "G".
He wasn't given a chance to follow up though, as they were attacked almost immediately, arrows flying around them - "There it is"- he growled as they were ambushed, shield held up protectively.
Kress and Belwar each manage to down a goblin! The two remaining are the one right in front of Kress and one of the two up near the trees to your left. Ammus' javelin sails harmlessly by. Whatever Daveth and Telurion do will cause me to edit this post. Kress, please roll initiative for me.
Belwar's and Kress' readied attacks fly true! After them,

You did it, Belwar. You did it! Filled with adrenaline from my first combative use of my arcane arts dealing with a goblin, a classic adventurers foe from all the stories, I shout, “For Uncle Gunni!”

He released his arrow against the first goblin to appear in his field of vision, hitting the mark and falling the creature. This brought a new, unfamiliar, sensation to him. A smile took his lips as a heart started to beat faster. He could feel the blood running through his veins, his senses sharpening. Happiness? Excitement? Seemed like a mixture of the two and he decided he like it. His elation, though, had a price. Distracted from his surroundings, Kress failed to notice the approaching goblin. The small grunt carried a blade that was headily wielded at the rogue. He was slow to notice, slow to react. If he was but a moment faster and he would have evaded, but he failed in doing so and the cold bite of steel tore his flesh.
With a groan of pain, the pureblood dropped his bow. Yet another new feeling took hold of him. Anger, he knew with no doubt. Focusing his amber eyes on the goblinoid he unsheathed two daggers. Their blades were slightly contorted, resembling the fangs of a snake. If it was a melee fight the creature wanted, then it was a melee fight it would get.
“Not looking great here.” Kress was unsure if someone was more hurt than him, but thought it a good idea to let his companions to know that we wasn’t in the best of conditions. Chances were the next attack to hit him would bring him down. “Let’s do this.” He said to the goblin, as he tried to attack with both his daggers.
Notes: Kress is dual wielding his daggers and will strike with both on his initiative counter, if the goblin in front of him is still alive. Otherwise he will close as much distance as he can to the closest remaining goblin and, if possible, make his attacks against him.

Kress, Daveth, GOBLIN, Belwar, Ammus, Telurion (and we'll see where the goblins fall).
[The goblin that had attacked Kress twists, and its motion combined with the injury just under the rogue's left ribcage causes both of Kress' whirling attacks to miss. Luckily, its twist brings it directly into Daveth's path as the cleric strikes a second or two later. Daveth's mace strikes true, and the goblin who had been menacing Kress drops unconscious at the pureblood's feet. Belwar's fire bolt sails maybe a quarter-inch past one of the large ears of the goblin on the ridge. Belwar, you couldn't miss a target by that little if you tried, but it appears that here in battle, that's exactly what's happened. Ammus is having a hard time getting a bead on exactly where to throw the javelin, and it sails maybe two inches to the left of the goblin on the ridge and lodges in a tree behind. Telurion scales the escarpment [using his movement and bonus actions], then attempts to strike at the goblin, but the goblin sees the paladin coming and yanks himself out of the way.]

As the arrow sinks deep into the wood of the wagon, a small yelp will escape me. I will fire off one last fire bolt at this goblin, if this one misses and the goblin is still standing, I’ll make sure I can’t miss the next attack!
If the goblins are all downed by my next turn I will investigate the dead horses and the surrounding area for any signs of Uncle Gunni or Sildar.

Confident that Telurion and the rest can handle the remaining Goblin, Daveth will search the goblin he knocked unconscious for weapons and confiscate them. He will then move up to investigate the horses and any other items of interest in the area.
His whole life, since long before his work on The Gate, he always heard that emotions where a hurdle. The chain that binds the fool, the fog that clouded the vision and dulled the blades of his targets. He never understood why, at least not until that point. His blood boiling with ire, his movements were wider, more erratic than normal, and the goblin, fast by his own merits, evaded both his strikes. I need to control it, he said with the voice of his mind. I must not allow it to control me. But would that be possible for him?
Before he could reach answer, Daveth reached the evasive ambusher, bringing him down easily. The focus of the cleric was another reminder of what Kress should do and of how he should center himself. A small part of his mind questioned if he shouldn’t take to following a deity too. Not the creatures equally followed and targeted by his people, but a proper god. A though that disappeared as he noticed the last enemy standing try its arrow against Telurion.
“Nice cover, Daveth.” He said gritting his teeth, the pain of the wound on his rib-cage throbbing. “Let me try something different.”
With those words Kress move into the direction of the last goblin, as much as necessary in order for the creature to stand not further than sixty feet from him, and them trowed both of his daggers attempting to bring down the enemy, but without killing them.

[Kress' main hand attack misses the goblin, but the rogue's second dagger nicks the goblin in the side. Not a great throw, Kress, but definitely connected. As the goblin squawks in pain, it doesn't see Telurion's attack coming! He steps up and takes a big swing, finishing off the one remaining goblin!]
We are out of combat and out of initiative order. You have two dead and two unconscious goblins. Belwar and Daveth are investigating the downed horses and scattered items. Ammus, Kress, Telurion, what would you like to do?
What are you all going to do with the unconscious goblins? The dead ones? The map case? And the dead horses are still blocking the road, so your cart and two oxen can't get through.
SPOILER for Daveth:
Daveth, you look around, but beyond the map case and arrows on the ground, the scene is too chaotic for you to make heads or tails of what you're looking at. Death isn't exactly your area of expertise.
SPOILER for Belwar:
Belwar, your investigation is a little more fruitful. You're 100% sure the map case on the ground is the same one Uncle Gunni was carrying, and you recognize one of the horse's as Sildar's horse that was tied up outside the Beached Leviathan when you all parted ways a few days ago. It appears the horses have been dead about a day, and you find two humanoid-sized drag marks leading from the dead horses towards the woods up the escarpment to the north.
You'd have to do more investigation or have someone more familiar with nature see if they can follow the track once it vanishes into the woods.
After confirming that there are no further threats and his companions are not in danger of dying, Daveth will step away from the scene and collect himself. He will take a few deep breaths and repeat a mantra between the breaths, "There is always another dawn. There is always another dawn."Once he has centered himself, Daveth will remove any obvious weaponry from the unconscious Goblins and throw it in the cart. He'll then move the unconscious Goblins to the side of the road. Once that task is completed Daveth will help any who might be attempting to move the horses out of the road. If no one is doing that he will suggest it and set about doing it. Once all of that has been take care of, Daveth will then walk over to the dead goblins and pray over them, "From death, life."

“Um…guys…there are some drag marks here going into the woods. This is Uncle Gunni’s map case and that horse is definitely Sildar’s. I think the goblins dragged them off north into the woods. Didn’t you say you’re familiar with nature, Ammus? Think you could follow these tracks? I’m already at a loss.” I will pick up the map case, take a look inside, and check for any hidden compartments (interesting characters like Uncle Gunni ALWAYS have secrets in all the books). Investigation: 18 After the initial shock of combat wears off and I am no longer actively engaged in looking at the horses, the impact of it all finally settles in. I will join Daveth over the charred remains of the goblin I killed and join him in any prayers over that goblin. ”Won’t the other ones just wake up and hurt more people? Can we really just let them live? I will admit, the idea of killing them seemed a lot easier when they had bows in their hands, but they are still a threat….right, Daveth?” Between conversations and searches I will take out my journal/spellbook and begin cataloging the events of the ambush, first in brief notes, but I will write them down in more detail when we rest in the future.
Daveth will finish his prayers and say to Belwar,"It's entirely possible friend, though I hope the two still living see the error in their ways upon waking and finding their friends slain. Goblinoids may seem a beastly and malicious race if the story books are to be believed," He'll pause and give Belwar a knowing smile before continuing, "but we are all the same in Lathander's light. There are plenty of Goblin villages that live in harmony with those around them and plenty of humanoids that commit terrible, unprovoked crimes against them just the same." Daveth will look over to the others and say, "I can not speak for the others, but I will not take a life if I can help it. The possibility that these two might continue their misdeeds is not enough reason for me to take their lives in this moment."
I will pick up the map case, take a look inside, and check for any hidden compartments (interesting characters like Uncle Gunni ALWAYS have secrets in all the books). Investigation: 20
