"So these are dinosaurs huh."Sarya says walking around the contestants, patting them if possible. "This should be fun." She adds, checking out the odds, ready to place her daring bets.
Sarya is not one to place safe bets and bets accordingly: Race 1: Misty Blue 10 gp Race 2: Fad Funky 10 gp Race 3: Too much Tej 10 gp
She then joins the others and tries to find a good spot to watch the races, possibly from some roof within sight of the finishing line. "Better view from up here." She says to the others, trying to use her winged boots to assist Carlos and Thoradin to get up on the roof with her.
" Oh my lady! Give me guidance and show me the way! " Carlos stares at the chart and compares it to the dinosaurs again and again. " Humm… Okay! I've decided!"

Four-legged:16
Two-legged 88
Unchained 86
After placing your various wagers, you jostle through the crowd and find a suitable place to watch the drama unfold. The streets of Port Nyanzaru thunder with the sound of the pounding footsteps as the massive beasts race past you, and you wouldn't be at all surprised if one of the riders were to be thrown during the action. Children and adults cheer for the favorite dinosaurs and the most beloved riders.
The four-legged beasts run first, and the winning dinosaur is the triceratops Grung Stomper.
The second race is for the two-legged dinosaurs. The race is truly a close one, but Wee Willy Wukka wins by a nose.
"Hey, you won, congratulations."Sarya says to Rawlings, giving her a friendly pat on the back. "Let's celebrate by spending your winnings." She adds, giving the tiefling a wink. "Well that was fun, but it almost felt like it was over before it started. Back to the Monkey's Fist right?" She says to the others, helping those in need of it down from the roof.
Rawlings jumps to her feet as the massive animals race, eyes wide open and completely transfixed. Then her Wee Willy Wukka actually wins!! “Well! Would you look at that! Must be my day.” She turns to Sarya, “Thanks! Well you’re right, that would be where we need to head next, I think? Sorry, I think the winnings have gotten to my head, weren’t we to possibly get a canoe for something?”
"Yes, yes, the canoe, you're right Rawlings, forgot about that. We should talk to this Azaka Stormfang and make some plans before buying any more stuff though I think." Sarya suggests to th etiefling as they make their way back to the Monkey's Fist. "I think I should listen in a bit to the local rumor mill as well, perhaps I'll find something interesting out about current events, maybe even a clue to this Soulmonger."She adds with a smile.
Within thirty minutes of entering The Monkey's Fist, the five of you are sitting around a table near the rear of the inn when the barkeeper directs Azaka Stormfang to join you. She greets you warmly and explains that she is indeed authorized my the merchant prince Jobal to guide expeditions into the jungles of Chult. Her fee of five gold pieces per day (with thirty days paid up front) will be waived entirely if the group agrees to first assist her in a quest to Firefinger, where she intends to retrieve an important family heirloom that was taken from her.

Before Azaka arrives Sarya would have hanged out in the bar a while, chatting and listening in on local rumors. Persuasion: 14 Perception: 24
Sarya listens to Azaka while nurturing an ale from back home, avoiding the tej when she can. "So this Firefinger, where is it and what kind of opposition could we expect, and most importantly what is this family heirloom?" She asks Azaka. (So this Azaka, is she a native then?)
Rawlings listens as Sarya questions Azaka. She nods, then decides she has a few of her own, "Azaka, are you also skilled with a weapon? Can you hold your own if we are to be attacked in the jungle? Also, do you have any healing abilities?" She then sits back and observes as she and her team interview this lady.
Harq adds to the questions, asking, "I remember reading that you are a native of the lands here. If we were to meet some locals in the jungle, would you be able to communicate with them and help us to not offend?"
Before Azaka arrives, Sarya invests a bit of time in conversation with a few locals. Much of what is said is small talk about the weather, dinosaur races, and the pettiness of the merchant princes. After nudging the conversation in a more productive direction, Sarya picks up some information about a ruined city that lies up the River Tath, past Kahakla Gorge.
"Supposedly, no one’s explored past the gorge, but that’s not true," explains a young Chultan man. "It’s just that the few who made it out alive mostly keep quiet about what they found there. I have it on good authority that the ruins are guarded by a naga who is both wise and generous."
When she asks the young man about the "good authority" that provided such information, he replies, "Many say that some of the local jungle guides have traveled to the naga. Eku for one. Azaka as well. River and Flask also."

After introducing herself, Azaka (who is a native of Chult) fields the questions asked by Sarya, Rawlings, and Harq.
So this Firefinger, where is it and what kind of opposition could we expect, and most importantly what is this family heirloom? "Firefinger is a tall pinnacle of rock and was once a Chultan signal tower. It stands along the River Tiryki, a ten-day journey from Port Nyanzaru. Such towers were used to send messages between cities via colored flames at night or colored smoke during the day. Firefinger is one of the few still standing, if not the only one. Firefinger has been taken over by a flock of pterafolk that preys on hunters and explorers along the river. The heirloom I seek is a wooden mask carved to resemble a tiger’s face, and it grants its wearer the ability to communicate with animals. It is dear to me."
Azaka, are you also skilled with a weapon? Can you hold your own if we are to be attacked in the jungle? Also, do you have any healing abilities? "You'll have no need to fight on my behalf, I assure you. I heal in only two ways, however. With time and with potions."
I remember reading that you are a native of the lands here. If we were to meet some locals in the jungle, would you be able to communicate with them and help us to not offend? "Yes, I know those we can encounter peaceably, and those we cannot. If you follow my lead, we can avoid much trouble."
Rawlings listens carefully as Azaka graciously answers all their questions. Forever on the untrustworthy side though, Rawlings tries to see if anything seems amiss. Also a bit worried how far this other journey will take them to retrieve this mask.
"Thanks for being so forthcoming Azaka. You should know that we have come to Chult to locate something called the Soulmonger and as of yet we do not have any real leads on it. We suspect it could be found in one of the many chultan ruins. Do you have any suggestions where we should be looking for this supposedly old and powerful artefact." Sarya says as Azaka finishes.
Rawlings is confident that Azaka is being open and truthful.
"Soulmonger..." repeats Azaka thoughtfully. "I see. My suggestion is this: west of Mbala, not far from the Mistcliff Mountains, is a wise guardian naga that knows many hidden things about this land. Would you consider speaking with her? I know the way."
"Yes, well, we have still a lot to learn of this place Azaka." Sarya says with a friendly smile. "So, if we are to help you out with reclaiming your family heirloom, what preparations do we have to make and when are you ready to leave?"
" It's unfair, unbelievable… and totally impossible! " Carlos was still flopping down on the table and complaining about the dinosaur race. " How can that triceratops overtake three dinosaurs in one instance! There must be some evil force behind that scaly ass! "
@Azaka
Even though he feels blue, theyoung man never forgets about his duty as a cleric. Carlos waits until Sarya finishes her question and opens his mouth. " And monsters. Do you know what kind of threat we would face in that place? Last time, our employer forgot to warn us and we entered undead's den without holy water. It was lucky that we got out there without our bottom bitten off by zombies. But I don't want to repeat that."
Azaka, responding to Sarya says, "Canoes. We should head upriver to reach Firefinger. Insect repellent. The salve is best. And, lastly, rain catchers. We dare not drink the river water."
Then, directing her attention to Carlos, she replies, "At Firefinger expect pterafolk. Facing them in the open is folly, I'm sure you understand."
