If your vision for this campaign requires that of an artificer, druid or paladin, I’ll gladly change my PC (human fighter) to one of those listed classes instead. Willing to compromise!
I'm wondering if for Tiberius, the background of "touched by the Sea" or "Besmara's Blessing" which sounds better with the backstory
They are pretty similar backgrounds...even in the original pathfinder materials those were the two backgrounds that were very close to one another, although the adjustment to 5e definitely caused more overlap. I would say of the two Touched by the Sea has a little bit more of a mystic/ancestral quality to it where as Besmara's Blessing could be mundane or divine...depending on how you wanted to do the character background. Tiberius might not know what his ancestry is...but who are they? Why was he left to die? If there are mystical qualities there that might be explored during the campaign then consider Touched by the Sea.
Honestly if I run this again in the future I may just fold those two together...they are too similar I think. :)

Unrelated - there was one background from Pathfinder that just didn't really make the transition into 5e. None of its abilities had something comparable in the 5e rule set...and I didn't want to just make another Sailor clone.
That background is Peg-Leg. Here is the flavor behind it: One of your legs was bitten off below the knee by a shark when you were just a child, and was replaced with a wooden peg leg . You’ve long since gotten used to your prosthesis, however, and take no penalties from having a peg leg. You’ve had to learn to deal with constant pain of your injury as well.
Peglegs and other replaced apendages are part of the pirate aesthetic...so if you want to dictate that your character has a pegleg, or an axe hand or something like that talk to me about it through PM and we can figure out if there will be any mechanical effects to that or if it will just be flavor.
Mechanical effects will not be positive or negative, just balanced...For example off the top of my head, you have a short sword for a hand...it takes a minute to remove so you can't be disarmed unless you are incapacited...but you have disadvantage on some manual dexterity skill check...like sleight of hand or thieves' tools or something.

Name: Jonah. Just Jonah. Race: Variant Human Class: Artificer Abilities Scores: Standard Array Brief Background: Peg-Leg/Touched by the Sea(Sailor). The sea. I hate the sea. And yet, there's no escape from the thing. I think I may have liked it, once. Perhaps even loved it. I was drawn to the mystery, the beauty, of those immeasurable depths. That's before it started taking. The first thing I lost was my family. A terrible storm, a boat dashed against the rocks. Jetsam and blood in the water. It didn't take long for the sharks to come. The next thing it took was my arm. A great, scarred, dead-eyed thing, jaws open, took the thing clean off. But I survived. And, foolish knave that I was, I returned to the tides. The next thing it took was my friends. I joined a whaling crew, seeking my fortune in the melon of one of those cetacean behemoths. It ended the only way it could have. The old saying goes, 'a dead whale or a stove boat,' and at the end of the altercation the whale still lived, and all the rest of the crew did not. Next thing it took was my leg, in the jaws of that very same whale that did us in. But I survived. I reclaimed my arm. I reclaimed my leg. And damn it all, I'm going to take the sea for everything it's got, even if I've got to head back out on those treacherous waves. I would have joined voluntarily, had those pirates not poisoned me. All they had to do was ask. Link to Character Sheet: https://ddb.ac/characters/63330061/51ClWG

Didn’t want to be bothered with the mundane or the path that was expected of her. Her magic came as a surprise as she wandered across an obscure area in the sea. An area she had by before, but it never looked like the way it did on this particular day. She explored. Whether it was a weak spot to another plane, a God that was playing around, she isn’t quite sure as it was never that way again. She changed that day. She now had a gift, not really sure how to control it or whether it is a good gift or something else…but she likes it either way. It is still the plan to close recruiting this Friday. Honestly, we already have enough interest and I could close it and make selections now...but I already communicated through Friday and want to leave it at that in case anyone is out there noodling on the pirate they really want to build.

The demon took away their soul and made their body, and they have deeply regretted their decision for the deal. NAME: Dan Greenfield RACE: Variant Human (Feat - Telekinetic, +1 INT) CLASS: Fighter ABILITIES:111314121310 BACKSTORY: The 19-year-old son of a seasoned adventurer, Dan was trained by his father to fight, and inherited his psionic abilities. His plan has been, since youth, to become an adventurer, but being blessed with powers and skill early on meant the cocky youth has so far been forbidden from leaving--his father was convinced he still had quite a bit to learn. (No surprise he's already found himself in trouble, kidnapped aboard a ship.) Still, he's rather bright, and more stubborn than anyone else in his village; he's determined to make the most of this little adventure, and THEN to pay his kidnappers back, in spades.

Sound completely fair! I don't envy your decision toward the end though. I've been there a couple times 😅 good luck to everyone!

That's a tough call to have to make but I think we all understand the process so there will be no hard feelings.
Full disclosure: I am a relatively inexperienced player. I began a year ago as a DM because nobody else would and I desperately wanted to play. I do not have much experience as a player however. I mention this as player experience may help you to decide one way or another.
I was looking at "Ship's Surgeon" for Glafsee Blackbird. It seemed like a good fit for an inexperienced cleric.

It doesn't require anything in particular. Please create what ever character you would have the most fun playing.
That was more of just a non-sequitur observation of what we have so far because I find that kind of stuff interesting.

Alright. Closing recruitment. Gonna compile and post another one of these, primarily for my benefit...gives me a one stop shop for all of the links.
I will probably be sending out campaign invites to the selected 4 to 6 players in the next couple of hours.
If you are not selected for this game I hope we get to play somewhere in the future.
