I'm looking for a group of 3-5 players willing to participate in a "Tomb of Annihilation" game.
We'll start at level 3 and most (if not all) of the encounters will be using theater of the mind so don't expect battle maps (it is hard to update this each turn) but you guys could use this in your advantage, this means that in any kind of encounter you may assume items or some type of coverage will be at your disposal even if I didn't specify it.
For example:
After opening the door you see a bedroom filled with expensive looking furniture, drapes and ornaments. It's impossible to find any particle of dust and everything seems to be in perfect order. You notice a small current of air coming through an open window.
I would assume that the bedroom has multiple pillows, furniture with drawers, maybe even a small chandelier, big mirror. - so you may ask if any of those objects can be found in the room and if it makes sense I'll most likely say yes. I usually get to the point to encourage players to assume that I'll say yes but at the beginning I just like to make sure that we are all on the same page before getting there.
Tomb of annihilation is an adventure that will take place most of the times out in the wilderness (jungle) but there are still a lot of situation where social encounters may occur.
I guess that I don't need to go into many details regarding the campaign since it has been out there for a couple of years but if you'd like to know more just send me a message and I'll share more information.
For character building use standard array or point buy, no UA or homebrew, anything else is OK.
Also share your character name, class, background.
Feel free to ask any questions with your application.

While they were gone, the orcs had surprised attacked and killed everyone. Clover vowed to destroy ever orc that lived, or die trying.

@DM - How often would we be expected to post (hopefully taking into account a slowdown during the holidays?) Also, would we get any extra equipment or magic items for being level 3?
I'll share more details about equipment and wealth available after the team is ready/selected. If you've never played this module before it might be better to wait before deciding what to purchase beforehand.
In regards "reply time expectations" I'm ok with one per day, however, if you know you won't be able to participate at all during certain day/days just let us know so we know is ok to skip.
Backstory: originally a service bot in a temple in worship to Tyr, Gear’s inner will to participate actively in the balancing of order in the world was awoken while his owners were investigating the mechanus plane. Perhaps some particle of the spirit of Primus found its way into his being, as over time his body became to be covered in “crazy man’s cell walls” style mathematical formulae and runic symbology.
Gear has a knack for blunt honest replies and calling out obvious puns, highly persuasive and intimidating when speaking on truth, but unable to purposefully deceive, falling silent when circumstance calls for bending the truth.
Role: support and spellcaster, thematically in the realms of time and place mechanics (haste, slow, buffs, misty steps, dimension doors etc.) also some light healing and spell blasting when appropriate.

Background: Aranea grew up on the streets of Neverwinter, bouncing around from orphanage to the street after her parents died of infection. It wasn't long before she fell in with a group of thieves who taught her the skills she needed to survive and even thrive. Ambitious and determined, Aranea has always wanted to rise above her humble origins. Pickpocketing nobles and burgling mansions is all well and good, but she longs for something less mundane. She's heard of ancient ruins and tombs full of jewels and treasure, the sort of haul that could set her up for life. Not only that, but exploring such ruins would satisfy her thirst for adventure and knowledge. Had circumstances been different, Aranea would have gone to school and studied history or anthropology. If she can't get a degree in anthropology, she figures the next best thing is getting hired onto some sort of expedition, downplaying her connections to the thieves' guild but emphasizing she has the right set of skills for such a job.
Cool it seems that the group is ready, I'll be sharing campaign link and details later (today seems like busy day so you might get an update until tomorrow)
Everyone who posted up until now is in, seems like a crazy ToA run with two warforged but we'll make it work.
In order to start with the cool stuff we'll fast forward a couple of days into the adventure, by now all of you are currently in Port Nyanzaru but you reached this place by different means, you'll find those details in the following description:
For the past several days, the talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who’s ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can’t be raised — and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they’ve ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world.
Aranae and Gear where contacted by Syndra Silvane an old retired adventurer turned merchant who's afflicted by the death curse, Syndra was able to amass a great fortune and is ready to share it with those who save her from this dire situation.
Since she is already very desperate about this affliction, Syndra promises to each one of you a rare or uncommon magic item from her collection (OoC: I'm OK with you cherry picking anything from any source material with that rarity), delivered upon successful completion of her quest.
Syndra had already recruited Whistler, Four Clover and Kobold who were already living/staying in Port Nyanzaru and offered the same reward.
As Aranae and Gear were admiring Syndra's incredible collection of magic items an odd statue seemed to slowly turn its head to Syndra's tale of a possible worldwide curse. The armor seemed empty but after a couple of seconds two lights turned on where eyes should've been and a odd symbol:
(Placed wherever Case would like to have it placed) started glowing in red and blue.
This caused some alarm but Case was quick to establish that he meant no harm and was in fact interested In joining to the adventure.
Syndra explains that more people are already waiting in Port Nyanzaru as one of her servants opened up a magic scroll and opened up a portal to Chult, from the other side you see a tropical city under the blazing sun. The familiar sounds of a harbor — creaking ropes, slapping waves, heavy barrels rolling across cobblestones — mingle with voices shouting and cursing in an unfamiliar language filled with clicks, inhalations, and singsongy words that make it sound almost musical. The aroma of unfamiliar spices and tropical fruit mixes with the wharfside smells of fish, tar, and canvas.
Beyond all that, Port Nyanzaru is an explosion of color. Buildings are painted in bright shades of blue, green, orange, and salmon pink, or their walls are adorned with murals portraying giant reptiles and mythical heroes. Every building sports baskets and clay urns of colorful flowers or is draped in leafy, flowering vines. Minstrels in bright clothing adorned with feathers and shells perform on street corners. Multicolored pennants and sun awnings flutter atop the city walls. A crowd of children dressed in feathered hats and capes races past you, squealing in delighted terror as a street performer costumed as a big-toothed lizard stomps and roars behind them. The whole city seems to be bustling, sweating, laughing, swearing, and singing.
Syndra's condition prevented her from traveling before to speak to the rest of you who where already in Chult but one of her closest friends Wakanga O'tamu (a merchant prince from Port Nyanzaru) helped her and had a similar reunion with Whistler and the rest.
Syndra walked slowly through the portal and was greeted by Wakanga and his people on the other side with a vehicle ready to transport her to one of his villas. He had also some smaller vehicles for the rest of you with the direction to take you to the Thundering Lizard to meet the rest of the team.
All of you were also provided with 75 G (plus whatever you rolled from your starting wealth as mentioned in the PHB)
But I will let you guys continue from this moment and stop "using" your characters moving forward.
This is information that the people already staying in Chult would know about the peninsula:
“The cause of the death curse is a necromantic artifact called the Soulmonger. According to many sources, the Soulmonger is somewhere in Chult.”
“Chult is a peninsula ringed with mountains and choked with rainforests. Enormous reptiles, savage goblins, and an army of undead prowl its jungles and ruins. Mapping the place has always been nigh impossible, and nothing is known about the region’s current geography beyond a few miles from the coast.”
"Might be a good idea to gather food and water for the trip"
Due to Whistler's background Wakanga provided him a mostly uncharted map of the region.
Gear walked toward Wakanga both awkward and excited. “I am here to help find a cure or miracle for Syndra, I hope we can work together well in this endeavor.” He stabbed his hand outward in the manner he understood to be the greeting of an empty hand offered for the contract of companionship.
he grinned a mouth full of various semi precious metals.
