The tiefling looks on, perplexed and confused. She thinks about the entity that calls to her, Hoar, and wonders if it is “darkness.” She shrugs and continues to keep watch in the darkness, keeping on eye on the suspicious Landee until it’s her turn to sleep. Asking her stuffed bugbear to keep an eye out.
Gabin tentatively rises to his feet and begins explaining.
"I, uh, was banished to a dark place. The Shadowfell I believe it was called. It was a land of darkness and death, and I a creature of life and light. All around, I could feel a magical taint, almost like a solid force. I think I was supposed to be kept there, but Torm, my god, pulled me back. I could still feel the taint though, and Torm must have sensed that, for I felt his will abandon me. Ever since, that sensation has lingered. Sometimes I touch on it in desperation without thinking, and things happen. Is any of this helpful"
(Wow, that was hilarious. I would say Gabin feels much better about his situation, knowing that his purpose is for good, no matter how he obtains his magic. He feels he is coming more to terms with it - unless you feel differently, it is your character)
While the party gets comfortable and tells their respective story, they enjoy their evening and start getting cozy after their long day of hiking. A danger slowly lurks around them, sneaking up and getting close... Tastie and Elirions weapons alert them both to danger and the gnolls are not able to surprise them.
As the group notices the incoming ambush, they all jump to their feet, ready for a fight. You see 4 typical looking gnolls, two that look a bit bigger and one that is obviously their leader.
Elirion is startled out of her meditation, and instantly ready, her reflexes honed by training and bitter experience.
Quickly assessing the situation, she moves south and a little west as a complex mass of firey energies seem to coalesce around and play over her hands. As she moves the chaotic mass seems to compress, forming a tiny, bright mote hovering in the air. For a moment everything is still, then the tiny bright point flies west and erupts in a mass of flame in the centre of four of the gnolls.
Fireball: 14 fire damage, DC 15 DEX save for half. Movement: S,SW, Cast, SE
She stares wide-eyed and the ball erupts, but somehow seems to fade. "Still need to work out the kinks," she says.
Targeting 5-ish squares right and 5-ish squares up from the bottom left of the map to hit 4 of them, I think.
Gabin points at one of the larger gnolls and light begins to build up in his finger, but before releasing it he slowly unfurls a second finger pointing at the other large gnoll. Two blasts of light shoot forth, arcing towards their targets
Attack: 24 Damage: 9
Attack: 9 Damage: 9
If either of them get hit they get pushed ten feet away, but they won't be slowed this time. Gabin's spells have become a little more destructive following the ordeal in the mines.
Gabin moves back 20 feet while calling out to Remi, "Hey, you still have my talisman? Hang on to it a little longer for me!"
The first gnoll that attacks Remi this turn will take 3 points of psychic damage and get pushed 10 feet away. There is no save for it.
Gabin's blasts of light pierce through the sky illuminating the dusk as they find their home in the large gnolls' chests. Each creature snarls as it is pushed back and damaged. The lower one is now bloodied as well.
The gnolls are up....

Lanky frowns as Gabin talks about darkness tainting him. He hopes that E'lar can find out what the problem can be and fix it.

"Hmmm... if your god was unwilling or unable to remove it, I think it doubtful that I can. But we can try."
E'lar frowns and reaches up to smack Gabin in the forehead, his hand wrapping around as he barks out a plea to cleanse Gabin's taint.

Roll initiative!

The Chief was able to dodge as well as the top gnoll. The bottom gnoll looks pretty bloodied.
