Bellarys left home long ago, using her animal forms to travel great distances in search of adventure. Lately, her transformations have been accompanied by a more feral sense of justice, urging her to attack any creature attempting to harm or control the natural world. On her most recent expedition to the edge of the forest, she came across a poacher and quickly shredded him and his camp. It was easy to do, with her claws and teeth -- almost instinctual. Only after she reverted back to her more peaceful, half-elf form did she begin to feel regret over what she had done. This was soon followed by the realization that the poacher she had murdered was an influential man in town. She needs to get out fast before folks begin to suspect the strange woman who just arrived.
It is becoming more and more clear to Bellarys that she must either learn to control her bestial side or withdraw from civilized society entirely. She is becoming too unpredictable.
Apologies if that link doesn't work. I'll follow up of it doesn't.
Race: Half Elf
Class: Bard
Background: Urban Bounty Hunter
Backstory:
Hemlock's spirits lifted somewhat as he strode across the cobbles towards the warm glow and drunken sounds approximating happiness pouring out of the Wicked Pixie Inn before him.
Sure he had troubles. The Night Masks had made it clear that he had better come up with 2,000 gold by week's end on his debts or face slow grisly murder. And he didn't like the style of the new debt collector he had received the ominous note from, "The Count". I mean really, who calls themselves that?
But things were looking up too. With his last bounty he had been able to make good on tonight's payment due the Masks, and buy himself seven more days above the dirt. Also, he had been able to bribe the gate guards to get himself into the merchant's district tonight. That alone seriously reduced his chances of being stabbed in his sleep. The bribe price had been high, but that in itself brought some amount of security.
A man you can bribe is a man you can trust!
Just then, Hemlock's reverie was interrupted by a handbill lazily floating down from the heavens to land at his feet.
"What's this?" At first depicting mouth-watering hordes of treasure, the illustrated paper blurred and reformed as an advertisement for a carnival.
"Now that has GOT to be a trap!"
Hemlock scanned the directions on the paper to the carnival grounds and, without a second thought whatsoever, made straight for the advertised event.

Hemlock's spirits lifted somewhat as he tromped over the cobbles towards the warm inviting glow and garbled drunken noises approximating happiness spilling out of the Wicked Pixie Inn before him.
Sure, he had problems. The Night Masks had made it quite clear that he must come up with 2,000 gold pieces on his debt by week's end or face a certain slow grisly murder. And he didn't quite care for the style of the debt collector he had received the ominous note from. I mean, who calls themselves "The Count", really?
But things were looking up. His last bounty had been enough for him to pay off tonight's blood money, keeping him this side of the dirt for another seven days. And then there was the success with bribing the gate guards to let him into the merchant district. That alone greatly improved his chances of not being stabbed in his sleep this pleasant summer's eve. The bribe price was high, but even in that there was a sense of security.
Men that can be bribed are men that can be trusted to not squeal!
Hemlock's reverie was interrupted by a handbill delicately floating down from the heavens above and landing at his feet.
"What's this, now?"
The illustrated paper first appeared as a mouth-watering depiction of rich treasure. The pictures shifted and blurred until they became an advertisement for a carnival.
"Now that has GOT to be a trap!"
Scanning the directions on the sheet, Hemlock turned on his heel and proceeded to straight towards the event, without a glimmer of a second thought.
Lol, okay, I see my first post now. Think I'm keep first rolls, they were pretty sick. Interesting to see similarities and differences in my two writings of the Backstory.

Lucus was born to a long line of Legionnaires, though none ever attained great prestige or rank. He worked hard, and the proudest day of his life was when he earned the rank of Decanus, and was given command of the ten-person patrol unit (contubernium) "Falto." It was not to last. Less than a year into his assignment he died, unceremoniously and without a hint of glory, when a javelin plunged through his throat while his patrol was ambushed. Instead of Elysium he found himself the pawn of a cruel game by the Gods, and cast into a strange and distant world. All that they gave him was the ability to understand "common" and a small folded piece of strange parchment. Upon opening the paper he was assailed with a haunting yet comforting visage of home, which then distorted into an advertisement for a circus. Upon looking up from reading the paper, Lucus found himself in front of a great tent and knew he was there - and this was the decree of the Gods. They put him there for a reason, and he needed to succeed at whatever trial they had given him so that he could earn his right to return home. Equipment / Gold: I do not know what you would allow starting out at 4th level, but I am okay with standard starting if that is best.
PapaHuck - I can see both of your previous posts. Sometimes I get an issue where I have to edit posts a couple of times in order for them to properly appear.

Thank you to all of those that applied. It is worth saying that there were many fantastic applications that it was really hard to select who to include and who not to.
Please be assured that I often return to recruitment threads if people drop out of campaigns / to look for players for new campaigns, so please do not feel disheartened if you have not been selected this time around.
Those that have been successful with their applications have been messaged. The primary consideration was that the character match the 'feel' of the campaign that is being run, which is highly subjective and left me with a number of tough decisions to make.

DM - The Call of Strahd (CoS); Feyrealm Campaign, Chapter 0 - Bleak Prospect (BP), Chapter 1 - Destination Unknown (DU)
taking a read of everyone’s PC’s, some sound like they would be a blast to RP with ;)
But 4 Bard & 6 Rogue applications wow!
And then 2 Rangers, 2 Druid’s, 1 Fighter,
2 Artificers, 1 Sorcerer, 1 wizard.
…
Good luck to all, as well to DM.
No matter what, should be some cool additions to the party.
Equipment modification request - instead of the crossbow option can I do javelins? Romans did not use crossbows until well into the Byzantine era.
