Shoowaa immediatly goes for the soup, drinking it as if it’s the best thing he’s had. Once the spores are up: <Wow! You guys fought an ooze thing? We had to clean the kitchen. It was sooo boring, Ya ya ya lets leave! Lets ditch these manacles and run for freedom when we have the chance!> At the mention of freedom, Shoowaa’s tail wags. <If we raid the kitchen before we go, there are like lots of food and and and there’s wine, wine!>
"I agree we should take chance given to us. Hopefully the distraction he said will be loud enough that we can easily break our chains and then be gone from this place." Vrah says.
Phodoxia hungrily gulps downs her bowl of mushroom broth. It's easy to almost forget about food when you haven't had any in a day or two, but nothing is more welcome when it shows up!
If the spores activate the mind link and information freely shared, she pitches in, somewhat stream of consciousness from her tired mind that suddenly had some nourishment. <If this drow is going to give us an opportunity to escape, we should do our best to use it. I don't know about faceless lords, but that sounds frightening, if he controls all oozes. My cousin was eaten by an ooze. They're horrible things. I found out that magic works outside. I was able to use a spell in the kitchen. Did you see it, Shoowaa?> She grins. And then grimaces noticing the wagging tail. <That abominable thing... we'll find a knife soon, poor dear.> Phodoxia turns her attention to inspecting her manacles, and twisting her wrists in them a little bit to see how easy it might be to free them.
Anyone who wants to try and free themselves (or another prisoner) from the manacles can try either a dex check or a strength check. This is something that you can use the help action on. If no one else has anything to say to Jorlan, he finishes serving you your dinner and leaves with the promise to arrange for the cell to be unlocked at some point and a distraction to take place.
Via Sprout's telepathy, Tanis makes sure that he shares with the kitchen crew, and those who stayed in the cave, everything that happened down on the cavern floor with the rock crew.
Drinking his soup in slow sips and thinking about the manacles, and before he attempts to free himself, he asks Petmailer telepathically (shared with the whole group):
"Assuming we can trust Jorlan and this is not just some doublecross ploy for Ilvara's amusement, could you tell if he meant he would leave the gate unlocked and cause a distraction later tonight? Because if it's tomorrow or another day, it might not be good if some of us are found to have freed ourselves from our manacles in time for tomorrow's work detail, and then can't work properly without it being obvious that our hands are no longer bound. I am unsure whether we should wait until the aforementioned unlocking and distraction actually happens. What do you all think?"
That said, if Petmailer is trying to free himself, Tanis would help, giving Petmailer advantage.
Shoowaa nods <Ya I saw! I shoulda done something too! And ya, I’d like it gone but preferrably somewhere that isn’t as hostile!> Shoowaa tries to get out of the manacles, hopefully with help.
VRah grits his teeth in frustration at not being able to break the manacles and seethes with rage at one point gnawing on the manacles hoping to get them off. After about a minute he gives up and seeks help from someone else.
[OOC: not sure if I can make another roll before a minute is up of his rage, before someone else will have to help him get out.]
[OOC: The source material says you can make an attempt to get free once per long rest. You can help others as much as you want, but it doesn't let you keep spamming attempts until you get loose. Also, I'm giving you all some time to plan or discuss amongst yourselves about what you want to do before progressing the action. This is maybe too meta, but Jorlan won't come back before it's time for you to start a long rest.]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Assuming one of the other PCs or perhaps Eldeth helps helps, Tanis also attempts to squirm free: 21
Tanis will also help anyone else, other than Buppido.
"I am uncertain, but I think we have to take this chance if Jorlan unlocks the door, even if some of us remain manacled and others not."
"I think the way down has to be jumping down to the pool so we avoid all the towers and bridges and having to take turns using the lift. There is even a small area in the northern corner where there may be no webs and we can jump straight down to the pool, though the two sentries are probably going to be posted in that nearby alcove there. The only other question is whether we attempt to raid this first tower and the storeroom on the upper floor. Perhaps take some valuable equipment, food and water, perhaps even our own gear. I am hoping the Jorlan's distraction calls some of these drow away, but if we have to fight one or two, we have to overwhelm with numbers. Throw them down into the webs if necessary. Then keep moving. Any big or prolonged fight - we lose."
"Final question is which exit to take - NE, NW or SW? I say we make for this Darklake if we have a choice." Tanis looks to Shuushar. "Which exit is that?"
Shuushar has been meditating quietly to himself. He rouses at your question. "The dark lake is most easily reached through the north western passage. I would very much like to return to my people, but I should tell you, I will not take up arms against anyone or harm any creature. I know the region around the dark lake and would be happy to provide any guidance or assistance I can, but I will not harm another being." He bows his head.
Shoowaa gets rid of the belt that has his manacles and hides it in a corner underneath some loose stone. His tail wags furiously as he's happy that he's finally free. <Yes! I'm freeeeeee! Free free free. Now we need to get out of here! Oh! Oh! I got charm person today! That might help! We can make a drow friend to help maybe if it works, if not then yes lets overwhelm. From sounds of it north is our best bet with the pool, maybe that is where the lake is?"

Dexterity check to try and free herself from the manacles: 8
Petmailer notes Phodoxia struggling with her manacles, he goes over and helps her to try and slip out of them, then asks for the same help in return.
Dex check (sleight of hand) : 15
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Unfortunately, these attempts to slip loose are unsuccessful. Perhaps you all are still worn out from the day's work.

So far, Shoowaa and Vethna have managed to wriggle loose from the manacles. They are still attached to the belts you are wearing by chains.
Kisiki does not attempt to slip free yet. He shares with the group, "I will slip out when the time to escape arrives."
