"Found some good things we can split up once we clear out this cave and get everything back to the wagon. What can you tell us about the castle, are there any secret entrances?"
Klarg eyes the elf up and down, "Klarg only enters through the main gates. How dare you presume Klarg would need to sneak into the castle like a bandit in the night!"
(Bearkiller rolls a persuasion check to convince Klarg to reveal more information about the castle 7+1=8)
"Klarg, you are surrounded by 6 foes who killed all of your minions and have you bound in a cave. Your fate lies in our hands whether you want to accept that or not. So now is as good a time as any to tell us of the castles defenses. Otherwise we have no use for you, and OldMan here can drive a Fire Bolt through your skull."
OldMan questions Klarg again. "Are there any more of your puny henchmen goblins waiting for us across the bridge? Tell us about the frog statuette? If you give us some more information maybe we could give you a drink of one of your healing potions you had stashed away. I am sure you are in great pain from battling the 10 of us. Oh I know you only see the six of us but we have 4 friends guarding the entrance waiting for us. So escape is futile. You will die today if you don't cooperate."
Just so the party knows I have no plans of letting this thing go and I figure he doesn't know who is with us or not. I think we need to rescue the human and clear out the rest of this area before we start making trips to the wagon with loot. Do we want to short rest (an hour or so) before checking out across the bridge? Thallen good idea checking it out. Someone probably should provide back up in case he gets rushed.
Klarg huffs up his chest a bit, "Klarg does not know much about the Castle and has only been there once before. This cave lair was my kingdom and Klarg stuck to it. Klarg had an army of 19 total, and there are six in the eating alcove one of which is my second in command, Yeemik. You would do Klarg a great favor to kill him as he has wanted to oust me for some time."
At the end of the short rest, Jake stands up and dusts himself off. "Well, we can't sit here and do nothing. We must retrieve our missing man, and by the sound of it, eliminate a few more goblins. I have one more spell in me until tomorrow. Let's set off before those goblins get wise to our presence."
(Galben looks around at the group, gives a nod to Jake)
"You decide amongst yourselves who will kill Klarg. I am going to scout the position ahead. Regula come with me into the waterfall room and if I need help I'll yell to you and you can yell to the rest of the group."
(Galben goes into the waterfall room and up onto the bridge, looking down the entrance leading to the eating alcove: Stealth Roll: Nat 20+5+2(guidance roll)=27)
OldMan takes his dagger and plunges it into the Bugbear's throat sending him to the great beyond. He pauses contemplating making a statement or saying something to Klarg but decides he is not worth any more words.
"Let's go and find Yeemik and the others and hope our blades are sharper and more accurate than theirs."
As the party moves across the bridge and begins making its way down the passage, you begin to hear sounds of talking and laughter and the clinking of pots and pans emanating from the goblin den. This large cave is divided in half by a ten-foot-high escarpment. A steep natural staircase leads from the lower portion to the upper ledge. The air is hazy with smoke of a cooking fire, and pungent from the smell of poorly cured hides and unwashed goblins.
(Galben lifts his hand to stop the group and motions to them to backup)
(Speaking softly) "We need to reorder, with our strength in the front, Let's have our attack order be Regula, Thallan, Bearkiller, Galben, OldMan, Jake. There are 5 goblins waiting for us at the end of this cave."
Regula draws his sword, as he leads the group into the goblin den, shield at the ready. He rushes directly at Goblin 1, taking the goblins by surprise, swinging his sword violently, but missed (9 to hit). The sword clangs on the rock next to the goblin as they all draw their scimitars, ready for battle.
OldMan asked me to take his turn for him since he's MIA today. OldMan casts magic missile at Goblin 5, dealing 9 points of damage. The goblin collapses to the ground, dead.
Regula draws back his longsword and brings the full force of the blade down on Goblin 1 (21 to hit; dealing 10 points of damage), spilling the putrid guts of the Goblin onto the cave floor as it grasps at its stomach before collapsing into a pool of its own excrement.
"We're making this look easy, boys!" laughs mockingly.
Goblin 2 lets out a heinous scream as he rushes Regula, his scimitar glinting in the firelight, slicing across Regula's armor (20 to hit; successful), dealing 5 points of slashing damage. Regula staggers back a few steps as he arrests his backward momentum.
Jake - it's your turn to draw blood! For clarification, I am presuming we all rushed into the room together so we are all in range of all enemy combatants.
Jake moves to the corpse of goblin 1, studying the battleground, ready to heal anyone who goes down. Holding [spell[healing word[/spell] as action , with trigger being anyone who drops below 1 hp.
(Galben works his way back to the group)
