OOC: If you go to Gundrens calling it will be about 90 miles. With Ky leading the way through mostly woods, you will be able to travel much faster. On a good day, you can push a Horse about 20 miles, 30 on a forced march. Any more then that, and they will likely die by the end of the trip. So from Gundren's Calling with Ky leading the way, you can make it in about 3 days time, but it would be a hard push, with no other events happening during the trip.
From where you are now, which is Cragmaw castle on the map, it would be about 65 miles, so I will say just around 2 days travel with horses and Ky leading the way and no interventions along the way. From your knowledge, the Neverwinter Wood is controlled largely by Elves.
Dawnfathers Sealing on the map is near the words "The Crags"
OOC: No. the hexes are 5 mile hexes. If you count them out, it is 18 hexes from the point on the map that says Phandalin, and 13 from where it says Cragmaw Castle, which is where you are now. 18 hexes is 90 miles, which with Ky leading is 3 days pushing the horses really hard. 13 hexes is 65 miles, which is about 2 days pushing the horses really hard.
(OOC: So its safe to say that, without incidents and with Ky leading us, going fast but not killing our horses in the journey we have a 2.5 / 3 days journey ahead of us from our current position. Right? Come one guys... it's her mother of wich we are talking here.. we are wasting precious time... ;) )
"I am not sure to be honest. I know I can get us into the Feywild... I guess now its the Shadowfell... But it is dangerous. Time works in strange ways. Our need is great and I am from there, so time may bend around me and that need, but still..."
"If we leave from here, I can get us there in about 2 days time. It is up to you all though."
"Grandpa Hector used to tell stories about people the faeries would carry away... sometimes they'd come back twenty years later and haven't aged a day and sometimes they'd be gone a day and age half a lifetime."
Caradoc begins pulling his pack together and readying himself for a ride. "Cyrnair says go north now. Ky's undecided. Gelin? Ennis? Flint? North right now or back to Gundren's Calling to try the portal to the Shadowild?"

Whew... Finally figured out my confusion. I thought you were saying it was 18 hexes from where we are back to Phandelin.
Flint finishes fastening his chainmail and begins to gather up his belongings. "I understand the paladin's concern. If my family was in peril, I would not want to delay. However, this path through the Shadowfell seems too risky."
Caradoc has had a big distracted grin on his face ever since he woke up. Finally, as people start packing to leave, he can't hold back the source of his good humor anymore.
"Hey Cyrnair... can I look at your fancy coinpurse for a moment?"

OOC: DM told me I saw you sneak away, but I thought you were going to the bathroom. Good liar I guess?
"I saw you sneak away to use the bathroom. After about 30 minutes i figured it was something I better not investigate... or that you fell asleep somewhere out there after all the alcohol. What did you do?"
OOC: LOL 23 Deception to give Ky the international signal for "I gotta empty the ballast tanks!"
"Oh stop searching for it, Cyrnair!" Caradoc giggles after several moments of watching the paladin pat himself down and dig around in his blankets and pack. The halfling tosses the magical coinpurse to him, and then tugs another small pack out from under his blanket.
"Now look... you know there was no way I could sleep through the night with all that loot just laying up there in the keep... So I sneaked back up there and found all this!"
DM also said that with that last Investigation roll, I'm certain that there should be more useful loot here, considering the volume of coin and other things -- there should be more than the Harvest bag and the two scrolls.
"I think Baryeras made off with the best stuff, though."

Ennis gives the halfling an appraising look up and down.
"You snuck back in...alone...to retrieve all of that?" He gives a bit of a smile and adjusts his glasses. "Consider me impressed. I'd certainly like to take a look through those gems when we have spare time to see if any would be useful spell components."
He turns back to the paladin and ranger.
"As to the more urgent matter at hand, I think good Caradoc has a point about the risk of traversing the Shadow-wild/Feyfell with so many unknowns. I think heading directly for the monastery from here would be our best option."
Ky eyes the coin hungrily as Carodoc talks about it. "Think... think of all the silks..." She snaps back to attention. "Yes... yes of course. Well then. Shall we be off then? I think if we are riding out, we should leave from here. We may pass by some elvish settlements along the way. That... all that coin could potentially be used in purchasing what we need. If we veer off half a day, we can head to the main town of the Wood Elves on the sword coast. Its called Nah'Thair (Thank you DM). Its sort of on the way... I would rather avoid it, but if we go, it should have some potions for us at the least."
"Wait! Don't tell me you went back in there alone?!" Flint points in the direction of the dragon's former base of operations. "Very foolish, my little friend,"his booming voice admonishes. He stands there a moment trying to give a stern look, but the earth genasi eventually cracks a smile. "Hah! But, very brave...and yes. Maybe we could pick up a few things to help along the way."
Gelin has been quietly appraising the situation, after having been roused from his slumber.
"As much as I like wanderin' into certain death. A fine story it would make after all... Have yeh considered that this could be a trap? A vision in the mind of our religous friend, that just happens to be of our most hated enemy attack the place of his birth? Seems awful suspicious to me."He pauses for a moment, not wishing to doubt the validity of the vision, but attempting to exercise some caution. "Is there something we might be able to do to confirm the vision before walkin' right into a trap? We escaped by the skin our teeth this time, and thsi new adventure being propsed seems to have even worse odds. I'll follow yeh with whatever we decide, but I feel like somethin' ain't right here..."
As Caradoc returns with an additional bag of loot, "Heh, well done lad. Shoulda known you'd be sneakin' back around."He give a hearty laugh and claps the halfling on the back.
"I hear what you are saying Gelin... but the moon turned colors... it went green, then red, and now everything looks... muted. That would be a powerful trick to say the least." Thinking about it she says,
"Cyrnair, you said the shrine is buried? And the Angel's are keeping the cave in at bay? Maybe we can sneak a way in? Did it look like the Angel's caused the collapse and they were ready for it, or did it look like Visarai did it?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With it more or less decided to bypass going back to Gundrens Landing, the party mounts up and starts to ride through the woods in a northward direction. With Ky in the lead 13 perception, 14 survival... Ky is able to lead the group ar a fair clip. She navigates you past some tanglefoot bushes, and a wall of briar patches, and even finds a decent spot to fjord one of the rivers. All and all, you travel about as far as one would on a decent road, before stopping to water the horses and let them have a short rest while you break for a breakfast meal. Along the way, Carodoc and Ky both manage to bring down a pair or rabbits, scrounge up some berries, and get a large crane. With a quick magi al campfire from Ennis, the meals are cooked rapidly and consumed.
As the morning pushes on, you start to notice that where ever the sun shines es directly through the canopy, everything looks as it should be, but wherever it is shaded it seems... off. Dull somehow. Not sure if it is real, or just your nerves you push on.
17 and 21
Feeling comfortable in her native woods, she stops minding the surroundings as much as she navigates. She continues to do a good job of it however, and pushes on into the afternoon without issue. No food is found while traveling, other then enough food for Ky, but she distributes what she found, and you all dip into your daily rations for the lunch time meal.
Moving on once again, evening creeps into the day, and the shadows do seem to stretch out further then they should, and linger. It brings an odd sense of Melenchaly. Ky, you sense the planar tear you felt early to the north seems to be... expanding. Pushing outward from its tear. 21 and 11.
As you push forward, you are able to actually seem to make better time then tu ou thought. You are close to the town of the Wood Elves now, and should be able to get there before full night, where as without the good guidance and survival skills, it would have been just out of your reach. It is as you make this realization, you hear a tree branch snap behind you. Ky is able to shout out a warning just in time, and the group and their horses are able to scatter just in time as a large tree trunk comes crashing down in the middle of the party. Scanning the area, you see 3 massive figures standing nearly 10 feet tall. They have green saggy skin with pointed ears, big noses, and jagged yellow teeth. Their eyes glow yellow in the last but of light in evening. They look as is a giant and a goblin had a child.
1 of the Trolls growls in anger at another of them, "Noisy feet Clumper! Now its gonna be harder to earn our meats!"

Cyrnair, adjusting his saddle looking for the purse to gI’ve it to Caradoc “Sure, it’s of all of us after all”
He doesn’t really pay attention to this, his mind in other place, but can find it until the halfling tosses it back to him.
