He begins wrenching his hands around the shaft of his spear nervously.

OOC: How are the guards and the diggers reacting to this extraplanar pulse and its aftermath? This might be our best chance to move, if they're disoriented by it as well

OOC: Based on that roll, They do not seem affected by the pulse at all, or at least, they seem aware of its intent and are ignoring it. As to the rotation of giants and ogres that are bringing out rubble, they dont seem to have a regular routine and order. It seems that as they gather enough to unload, they come out. It is typically 1 or 2 at a time, but it seems never more then 2, as the tunnel may be bottle necking them a bit.
"Trust me " says the paladin still struggling against the weird feeling " I only need to get to the shield. If we take out this creatures here you will be fine while I recover the sword. "
"So you keep saying... but we still need as much time as possible before the guard patrols see that there's no activity here, because we've killed everybody, and raise the alarm. Let's let them pass, and then we go."

I was under the impression that the patrols were neat the perimeter downhills, not here so high in the mountain. Up here they rely just on the watch towers.
Eventually there will be a change in shifts so this ogres and hill giants rest, but we do not have time to check how many hours a hill giant can dig.
I will post, however, under the assumption that I am mistaken and regular patrols cross this area too.
"That sounds reasonable, but if they reach the dome, and they try to send word to the others in their campent we need to impede that or all will be lost." he looks to the cracks where the light of the dome can be seen and closes his eyes for a moment.
" Listen, antoher rip like that could expose the dome in all fronts. The mountain falling upon the monastery wasn't part of the attack to it. It was part of its defense. It happened when Visarai disintegrated part of the defenseive wall with a spell. That's where they were digging with that big machines I guess.
The more they dig, the closer they are of their objective. The more we delay, and we do not how much time would be necessary to evacute the Sword and the survivors, the more that rip will increase. I know that it's hard but we all need to take a leap of faith here... "
Step 1: Stealth as close as we can to the nearest guard tower as a group Step 2: Caradoc sneaks up into the near tower Step 3: Someone casts Hold Person on one or both guards Step 4: We kill the guards to death. Step 5: Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome! Run into the tunnel and fight off the giants and ogres til Cyrnair comes back with the sword and his mom?
Caradoc nods. "You're right - time for talking's done. Let's move."

Flint gives the paladin a nod. "I trust that your god has given you the path ahead." He pulls out a bottle from his pack and uncorks. He takes a quick swig and lets out another slow breath before stoppering it an putting it back in. "Okay." Just before daggers or arrows begin to fly, Flint kisses the ring on his finger and then activates its magic (Jump).
OOC: So... said what I did not understanding there was a giant or ogre out and about. Can I retcon my attack, since I was basically doing that so when everyone else was going it would just... happen...
If not I get it.
Also, can you describe the situation. I think that pic they put up helped.
OOC: See group chat. You can retcon. I have also fixed the layout of the map to accurately depict the map. Thank you for the work Flint and Carodoc. I will try to explain what you all see.
As the group looks down at the dig-site below them, they start to take stock of what is before them.
100 feet south of them, as they look down towards the plain at this moment, they see 2 ogres and a hill giant outside carrying rocks. They see 2 hobgoblins on the towers.
OOC: Based on the plan, it looks like 2 people are going to try and cast hold person on the Hobgoblins, which means you all need to get closer.

As the group gets just to the edge of the light (60 feet), the glint of Cyrnair's armor catches the firelight. The hobgoblins who are on lookout, spin their gaze towards that light. They will 8 Based on that roll of 8, they will "1-50: Check it out further". They squak to one of the ogres that is passing by them, and while one of the hobgoblins climbs down the ladder, the ogre drops its rock load, and trundles on after him.
OOC: You are all now 60 feet away, with a Hob-goblin and a Ogre coming towards you. I will say for the purposes of this, they are "aware of you" but they are also not if that makes sense. Basically, they are on alert, and no real surprise can be had now. I will say this... Whoever goes first in the groups initiative, will get a "surprise round, to kick it off." I will roll initiative in the OOC

Caradoc points to Ky and Ennis and then to the hobgoblin in the tower, then taps himself on the chest, drawing a finger across his throat, and pointing towards the approaching hobgoblin.

OOC: Gotta love that Halfling luck. It actually makes for a fun narrative, when I can flavor text it though. (I will use the dice as they are. All good)
Carodoc uses his nearly superhuman little Halfling legs to scamper down the side of the hill. He is nearly invisible as he approaches the Hobgoblin. Getting within 10 feet of the Hobgoblin, he easily tosses his Kris Dagger into the Hobgoblin's throat. The creature goes down in a heap, dead before he hits the ground. The Ogre still does not seem to see Carodoc, focused first on "the shiny", and second now and the fallen Hobgoblin.
Carodoc, barely stopping his motion, continues with just his shortsword towards the Hobgoblin still on the guardpost. Carodoc, feeling suddenly confident in his fresh kill, runs down the hill a bit to fast, and trips, going into a tumble. The Hobgoblin on the tower sees something as Carodoc falls, but by the time its eyes focus, it just looks like a loose bit of shale falling down the side of the mountain.
Carodoc meanwhile, gets control of his fall, but uses the extra speed from the tunnel to get to the ladder of the Hobgoblin. Flying up it before it can do anything, Carodoc rams his sword through the throat of the creature, right as it was about to cry out.
Smiling proudly as the hobgoblin topples off the guard post, Carodoc waves to his friends briefly, before getting ready to attack once more.
Recap: In Ninja-Gaiden style, Carodoc killed both Hobgoblins.
Seeing that the halfling has taken care of the lookouts, Cyrnair focus on the ogre that is coming his way, looking for something shiny. He takes a couple of deep breathes, trying to calm him down. The tension of the past two days, and the shock of seeing his home buried and under siege, plus the planar rift above their heads, he just hope not to mess it all now.
He waits a little bit more, the ogre takes two more steps towards them. A few more seconds and he will see them. He raises a little prayer to Lathander, it came from his heart but didn't reached his lips.
"Hear me now Dawnfater. Help me beign your just sword against those who had wrong thee. Give me the strength to save thee servants and to protect my friends."
The stomp of the ogre steps could be felt on the rocks in the ground near him. He peeked around the rock he was hiding and saw the ogre, its great hands in the rocks near him, helping him to move his big mass uphill, the stench from the creature made him hold his breath.
With a sudden movement he launched himself forward, describing a downward movement with his sword trying to cut down one of the ogre´s arms. Then he uses his momentum to pass over the ogre and try to cut one of the legs, as big as his own torso, trying to get him down. Sacred flames ran across his blade as he moved it in the night air.
( Attack: 11 Damage: 12
Attack: 26 Damage: 8
On each hit he will use a 1st lvl slot to do smite: 63
Damn it is so easy to hit them and still he fails! he is nervous after all! I missed to post 2d8 instead of 1d8 so, just adding the 2 rolls to the damage roll that hits we got: 17 HP of damage, 8 slashing 9 radiant. I get dwon one lvl1 slot.
On the tactic side: He will wait until the ogre is 30 ft away and then he will move and attack, but I thought that the narration would be more intense that way. If he cannot reach the ogre moving 30 ft, then he will hold his action until the others attack and then will move and dash towards him. If the ogre runs he will attack with an AoO, if don't he will give the ogre a target to attack... )
OOC: technically, you could not make it, but I will say since it's down hill, and you are racing to save your mother I will give you the extra 5 feet lol. Also ogres have... 11AC... so you hit with both.
Fear for Cyrnairs mother fills him, and a divine wrath coats his blade. Charging forward with the power of a son protecting his mother, Cyrnair loses the martial forms he was taught, and treats his sword as a wood cutters axe. With the divine energy behind his swings, he cleaves into the Ogres burly arms and legs, dealing 20 points of slashing damage and 9 points of divine damage.
As the blade carves I to the wounds, the radiant energy burns and partially seals the wounds, but the burst of radiant damage pulses and burns further up the body where he struck.
The ogre bellows in pain as the blade cuts into it. The lightning flashes behind the Ogre, seeming to mirror Cyrnairs rage, not the storm around him.
Ky will move forward 35 feet, but at an angle so that she is heading back towards where they came a bit, hunters mark, and fire her bow 2 times at the ogre Cyrnair just cut into.
Attack: 26 Damage: 15
Attack: 19 Damage: 15
OOC: lol... I just realized... i have to roll a 1 to not hit these stupid ogres lol ;) and the damage dice betray me :(
Ky runs forward and fires 2 arrows into the ogre. The frost from the arrow bursts on each hit, dealing additional damage. The Ogre is already looking rough.
Ennis will move forward only about 15 feet before waving his wand with a muttered incantation to create a small sphere of crackling lightning which flies towards the injured ogre.
Ranged Spell Attack: 27 Damage: 8 Lightning
