"My dream was simple enough, just me delivering a wagonload of lanterns to this night shrouded land and it ending the darkness. I came up here literally with a wagon full of lanterns. My skill with animals isn't great and my wagon ran off without me. I found the wreckage down the road, everything smashed but this one."
"Thanks for your hospitality," says Thaddeus upon entering, "All told, I'm pretty lost right now."

"I'm sorry to hear that Brother Thaddeus."Sarya says compassionately and thinks for a while. "You don't think that your dream might have been a metaphor for you to return the sun to the dale?"She says curiously.
Sarya follows Dwalt to his hut, first making sure Ghathi comes along too, trying to find a comfortable place to sit inside, looking forward to that warming fire. "Why the spines, what's up there?" She asks the dwarf, seemingly not overeager to trek up into any mountains.
"Tha Spines?" he says curiously. "Fer all us up here tha Spines is tha source fer everythin'. Cold, wind, stones, beasts, man beasts. Tha Spines is held in wonder, reverence and a bit of fear in these parts. Many tales are spun about 'em an' some are truer than most. I hunt 'em ever now and then but keep clear of going too deep so I have never been too far and know little about 'em, outside what I've seen."
"Sounds dangerous venturing up there, but then you seem very capable Dwalt."Sarya says offering the dwarf a smile. "And thank you for letting us stay here, that is very kind of you."
Pulling his coat in close, Darby follows to Dwalt's home with the others. Upon the Fite being lit he will huddle close and sit by it, listening to the others on and off. "I hope we don't need to add bandits and thieves to whatever else may be here to deal with. Alas with the reputation of some that come to reside here that is a fleeting hope at best."
after a couple of hours you hear a group of people outside of the hut "Dwalt! put it out!" - a strong voice pierces through the wind howling. The group continues knocking on the door. This is a common situation as we've heard before from Dwalt that he usually won't follow the town's recomendation to appease Auril.
As the windows are shut, you can't identify the size of the group knocking outside. "Dwalt! We've lost Kendrick...we don't want more trouble, please put it out..." - Continues with his energy dwindling down with every word said.
((By now you feel that your body is tired and timewise it should be somewhere around 2 hours before midnigth))
Dwalt knows that Kendrick Rielsbarrow is the town speaker, kind of their leader.
Sarya shifts in discomfort as Darby speaks but gives him a nod and an agreeing but a bit strained smile, moving slightly closer to Ghathi.
Sarya seems concerned as the mob gathers outside Dwalt's home. After a moment she gets up and goes over to the door, opening it slightly to peer outside. "I so am sorry for the loss of Kendrick, I am a visitor and Dwalt has kindly given me shelter for the night. Why do you think whatever happened to Kendrick relates in any way to our host giving us some warmth to survive the night?" She says to the speaker outside, doing her best to sound polite.
Openning the door allowed the strong wind to push inside and you feel a force bursting the door (mostly wind but also the man in front of the door had his hand resting on it which added a small push to it) - please make an athletics check to hold the door (mainly because of your strenght of 8)
Regardless of the door openning wide - the man answers "You may call it a coincidence, but we've seen far too many of those coincidences to know already that lighting up fires will bring bad luck to us, Kendrick was killed two days ago when he fought a verbeeg who took three of our casks of mead." - a total of five man were standing next to the one answering to Sarya, everyone wearing heavy fur coats, goggles and fur lined cloaks.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sarya athletics: 19 (Oops, didn't realize the oponed inwards.)
Realizing that the combined strength of the storm and the townsfolk is too strong for her, Sarya takes a step back. "Please calm down, if you look around I think you will find a crew that will avenge Kendrick, slay this verbeeg and retrieve those casks of mead for you if you just let us rest first." Sarya quickly improvises to calm the angry mob. Persuasion: 16 (Rolled with advantage if anyone backs her up in this proposal, otherwise go with first roll.)
Sarya athletics: 5 (Oops, didn't realize the oponed inwards.)
(( It's a weird door motion preference :o but I guess it doe serve a purpose went trying to push in big hunted animals...game? I think that's how hunters call their kill))
The door is opened and a chilling wind enters the putting out the fire.
"Well that worked out great! We know this might be a lot for outsiders but we only ask this on new moon nights like today. We'll thank you tomorrow morning with a special breakfast! Dwalt knows where to find us". He closes the door and you can hear fading footsteps preceded by the neverending wind howling.
"Sorry about that." Sarya says quietly to Dwalt, blushing, finding her seat by the goliath again and going quiet now, wondering if the mob didn't hear her.
Dwal puts down his crossbow and works to restart the fire.
"I wouldn't open tha door anymore, least we wanna fight on our hands."Dwal says while he works. "They're scared is all, lookin' fer answers in places there may not be any. Just keep warm an' I'll take care of those that come ta complain. I fed half of 'em and they know I make my offerins proper."
Dwal busies himself make sure his "guests" are taken care of and warm.
Ghathi listens with interest to Dwalt's description of the Spine. "By 'man beasts' you mean me?" he asks. "The cold and wind exist in the Spine as much as much here - just a little bit colder and a little bit fiercer at times. But I'd be fascinated to know what tales you've spun. Made out of whole cloth I would imagine."
After Sarya's incident opening the door and the fire going out, Ghathi looks over at her as she sits back down. "We are Dwalt's guests," he says quietly. "Let's just let him follow what he feels to be the best path. We should all probably get some rest so we can get our glimpse of the daylight when we wake."
"Yes, I'll try to stay out of trouble now, until tomorrow at least." Sarya says to Ghathi with a weak smile, then trying to warm herself by the new fire, removing her gloves, revealing the ruby ring again, shimmering red in the light from the fire.
Darby looks like a child that had just been scolded when the fire is put out by the wind, huffing and trying to keep himself as warm as possible. He mutters in gnomish, cursing the superstitious people that cost him the warmth of the fire. "I am going to return home and never venture out again... Once I am done here that is."
"Nah" Dwalt responds to Ghathi. "I ain't talkin' about giants an' half-giants. I mean tha one that are tall, long limbed and covered in fur. I ain't ever seen one but me Da would tell stories about 'em around tha camp fire. Gave me tha geebies." Dwalt shutters at the memory of some childhood fear.
After sharing a couple of stories there was not much else to do, the weather made it really hard to focus on something else than "trying not to be cold" the fire helped a bit and the fact that Dwalt's hut was too small to fit comfortably the whole group.
You never heard of anyone knocking on the door during the night. Experiencing your first night here was very strange, you got enough rest to feel ok but the morning greet you with the same scene from eight hours ago.
Assuming that you woke up around 8am or something like that, outside has barely any light, two hours after that you'll get dim light for only four hours.
Those who ventured to take a look at the town in the morning found out that just as the weather the activity was the same, with the exception of few fishermen sitting next to a circle in the lake.
Some houses where showing a dim light barely escaping from barred windows and the tavern's chimney stained the heavy wind with dense gray and black tones from the smoke that was rapidly dispersed.
Sarya would eventually drift off into sleep, comforted by the warmth of the fire and sleeping fairly well. Ever curious and impatient, Sarya gets up early and ventures out again into the still dim light, taking a stroll around Goodmead, waiting for that breakfast.
Ghathi manages to sleep well, if a touch cramped in the space. But he doesn't mind. He is up early to complete his prayers to Ilmater. As Sarya is up and heads out he spots her moving away from the hut. "Hey, wait up. I could use a vigorous walk to stretch these legs." He quickly jogs over to catch up with her. "So where are you headed today?" He looks to make sure she is dressed warmly enough. He quietly asks her as they walk, "You're not too cold, are you?"
"Oh, thanks Ghathi..." Sarya says with a wide smile, although that's about all that can be seen as she is covered in the big fur coat, the fur hat and the snow goggles. "...no I'm fine. Headed nowhere in particular. Do you know if there is anything to see around here, I mean apart from all this lovely snow?"
