"So the Kryptgarden Forest of the Starmetal Hills? I vote for the hills as they are more centrally located. But I would also ask for information for both areas as we will eventually get to both at some point in our path to right this wrong."Jade adds to the conversation as discussion continues.
"If those are our options, I would prefer the Kryptgarden Forest, as that's close to where the survivors of my village were forced to flee after the destruction in the Neverwinter Forest. I would make sure they and the other forest denizens were as safe as possible. I do not wish to see another forest devastated if I can help it."
Koric ponders for a moment, his eyes resting on his new book. "I have to agree with the others: we must learn to work together. Walk before we can run..." He looks up at Mystra and then quickly looks down, "My Lady, can you grant us the Knowledge as to the difficulties of each challenge, so that we may better decide?"
Elandra has been quiet whilst Liri an Lux weighed the options, and again Koric asks the petinent question of which tasks are the easiest ones, she chimes in, "I fear, Mi'lady, that leaving our course to chance would be a course doomed to failure in this moment. The plan is sound, though i would make a small merger of the two. Let us tackle the quickest issue first. The closest and easiest may not be one in the same but a swift victory even if it is not the easiest will surely assist our cause."
The Lady of the Forest turns to you and says "The Starmetal hills are mostly barren, but since the catastrophe some bands of dwarves have now lived there. Many live deeper into the mountains, as many of the greatest outposts of the Cult of Talos are near there. Many of these dwarves came from Mount Hotenow or the hills around it, driven away by the terrible storms and whipping winds that now haunt the mountain peak. The Kyrptgarden Forest is a calmer place full of refugee elves, humans, and halflings, protected by the Sword Mountains from the raging water shielded from Cryovain's wrath"
@Koric
Mystra replies "It's hard to really tell what difficulties Talos's acolytes and the various other destructive forces at play will throw at you, even for me, but I feel all will be challenging, but you are capable of fighting any of them off with our gifts. I doubt any of them see any threat to themselves right now, but as your might grows, so will the determination of your enemies as they grow more prepared for battle. Still, maybe finding and destroying Talos's idols can be put off for later. My fellow deities present other important challenges for you to focus on. I cannot offer much more, but these should at least be some help"
@Lux Mystra weaves her magic into two scrolls, each containing the spell Augury, both of which you must use now. Because they are forged with the power of Mystra herself, they will look a bit farther than 30 minutes into the future, giving you a general estimate of how a quest may go
Elandra ponders the responses, seemingly the gods were not all-knowing or if they were, they chose not to be all-telling. "The two that strike me as early options are my Lady Tymora's suggestion to investigate strange magic at the Mere, and Lord Tempus's desire to strike at the cult. The cult are just men, and though numerous they would surely not expect such an action. The mere may give us information of value, and maybe we can solve it without bloodshed. I fear facing the elementals, desecrating Talos's idols, or engaging with a dragon may each be an unwise point to begin our quest."
Listening to Elandra, Koric's eyes light up at the thought of investigating the magic but in the end he just nods a little sadly. "The men who side with Talos deserve to suffer a little of what we have all suffered. And information is the only true coin in the new world; I am sure that we can persuade them to part with some."
He seems subdued. Mystra's response was not what he expected and it seems to highlight how weak the gods have become. If this small group is the best hope for the world, then he earnestly prays that their first test is not their last.
Lux receives the scrolls and says "Thank you goddess". He looks the scrolls over and then ponders the words from the group. "It would be wise to engage a lesser threat and build over way up." Looking up to the group. "Are we in agreement to either investigate the Mere or to strike out at the cult? If we are then we can proceed with divination for an omen for each journey"
Koric looks up, "Perhaps an omen for the cult first, and if that bodes well we go there. Then we can ask something more specific about how best to attack? Of course, if it bodes poorly, ask about the Mere."
Jade says, "I feel we should head towards the cult either way, as I do agree it should be either the cult or the mere. But I will secede to what the group decides. I feel the act of battle really can bring a group together and you can also learn so much about each other in a fight."
She gets up from the stone throne if possible and walks to be more in the middle of the group as they discuss the situation.
"Koric's words make sense, let us foresee what we can about the cult. They are likely the best source of information, written and otherwise. Though I am sure they are numerous, knowing where we can do the most damage without winding up dead would be useful."
We will need either dice or cards or something with a known this is good and this is bad. When we have that, Lux holds up one of the Augury scrolls and reads the incantation. With the question being to the omen of taking on the cultists firsts.
Elandra looks to Tymora, "Divine Lady, would you grace us with the tools that Lux has requested, a set of dice perhaps as my own are weighted? Using the utensils of two gods seems that it would only add further favour to our divination."
At Elandra's request, Lady Tymora throws two six-sided ivory dice towards you, which stop in the air and begin to spin wildly as you whip open the first of the two scrolls and cast Augury. Blessed with the power of two gods, you gain a tiny glimpse of an additional vision: an image of seemingly inhuman cultists flinging lightning at you and your companions. Both die land on a 3 (Weal or Woe)
"Hmm... that is good insight"Jade considers as Lux informs them of what they saw. "Mayhaps they are undead? This is still something that needs to be dealt with whether it is weal or woe. Shall we continue on this path, or did you want to cast the other? Honestly, I bet they are all weal or woe. We are in desperate times."
