You look at the light on the ground, and are able to make out that part of it has formed into the shape of a sun, but the rest of it looks incomprehesable to you and you're at a loss for what it could mean
Soloth is up! I'll post a map update after your turn
@All (rolled these all forgetting about Soloth's turn being before the enemies, Soloth is still up before this resolves
The myrmidon continues to attempt to calm itself, fighting as the two spells hold in in place and render it useless. Wis: 16
The myrmidon calms down, Jade's abjuration wearing off in an instant, allowing it to more properly follow Elandra's commands. It jumps back into the water, closing its eyes and relaxing and going with the flow (dodge action), moving a bit downstream as it does
The remaining water weird rushes down the stream in anger, pursing Liri to attempt to get her in its grasp Attack: 13 Damage: 14 The weird slams down into the water on top of Liri, knocking her out of her crocadilian form and holding her firmly in its grasp. Liri, you are grappled and restrained
@All (results of the group roll) Elandra: (rolled for you in log to keep things moving. Lmk if I missed your roll somewhere): 17 Koric: 16 Soloth: 20 Jade: 23 Liri: 13
@Elandra, Koric, and Liri
You listen to the voices in your head, but all you are able to hear is the voice of your own god, unable to really pick out any of the words. The conversation sounds rather heated to you though and in combination with Lux's sudden dissapearance... it can't be good
@Soloth and Jade
You are able to decipher the words a bit, making out some of the words of the conversation... "Myrkul".... "Lathander"... "departure"... not too many of the words are able to come through, but you are able to start picking out voices. Meliekki, Semunaya, Tempus, Mystra, Tymora, and a voice you don't quite recognize. It is a man's voice, deep and inherently chilling, the sound of it a bit offputting. Soloth, to you, it sounds much like Ebondeath's. It's not hard for you to conclude that this must be Myrkul, god of death. Seems your alliance with Ebondeath on the ground has lead to an alliance with his diety as well. No matter how hard you listen though, you do not make out Lathander's voice. As the conversation ends, it dawns on both of you that perhaps he is not there with the other dieties at all
(( @DM: Does investigation 23 at least give Koric some sense of what the other symbols are? Writing? Secret religious writing? Or are they just pretty patterns of obscure meaning to him? ))
You can't guarantee it, but you are relatively certain these aren't runes or any form of direct writing, as it just looks like a mass of light to you. Essentially, you are unable to find a pattern in the rest of the light and so it just looks like a glowing blob instead of a coherent image
You sink two arrows into the water wierd, though again they don't seem to find full purchase (resistance to non-magical peircing/slashing/bludgeoning, and the weird still seems relatively unharmed
@All - Myrmidon and Weird turns now resolve. Myrmidon breaks free of Jade's magic and the weird attacks and hits Liri
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jade considers throwing out a rope to Liri, but worries she won't be able to get to it while restrained. She uses her longbow again instead, aiming at the water weird.
You struggle against the wierd's grip, but are unable to break free from its hold
@Liri and Elandra - At the top of the order, you both need to make another DC 15 strength saving throw to avoid being pushed by the water. Elandra, if you fail yours, make a Dex Save to stay tied into the rope (DC is significantly lower than it was to hold onto it when you weren't tied in)
At the moment we are waiting on Elandra's turn. I'm going to bot Elandra in a bit just bc I want to keep things moving so we can get our new player in, so feel free to post your turn now
Frustrated that he can not decipher the meaning of the symbols, Koric turns his attention back to the combat. With a detached sense of wonder that he is in fact not trembling in the corner, he edges closer to the water and launches three bolts of force at the tentacles gripping his companion.
Magic Missile13 Points of force damage (in game log)
Strength Save at top of Order: Nat 1 Dex Save to stay tied in: 22
Start of turn Athletics check: 4
Elandra is utterly overwhelmed by the water and voilently pushed back 20 feet. By a stroke of pure luck, perhaps her goddess smiling upon her, Elandra manages to stay tied into the rope, not even having to grap onto it as it stops her rapid descent down the river. Though she is now dangerously close to the wierd, is is far too occupied with Liri to notice her.
However, when she tries to move again the water, she is unable to, pinned in place by its violent flow (speed is 0 for the turn). Unable to move, she instead simply turns to the wierd and flings a series of insults at it (Vicious Mockery) Wis Save: 18 Damage: 3 The weird shrugs off the spell, barely even noticing Elandra's attempts to wound it
@Koric
Your bolts of force crash into the wierd, the elemental clearly unable to defend itself from them and unlike the traditional weapons of some of your companions, they easily strike it and deal a heavy blow, though the weird seems to still be rather sturdy
Both of your arrows easily strike the weird, and though it resists the attacks, it goes very quickly from looking unharmed to looking quite beat up. It's certainly not on it's last legs, but you are well on your way to destroying it entirely
@All
The myrmidon continues to float peacefully in the river, remaining in place and taking the dodge action as it relaxes as Elandra commanded it to
The weird, writhing from the series of blows that it has just taken, starts taking off towards the waterfall, dragging Liri along with it. Even with Liri firmly in its grasp, it is able to easly move 30 feet towards the waterfall, getting Liri dangerously close to a steep fall onto the rocks below
Jade is getting incredibly frustrated with her lack of range abilities as she watches her friends struggle in the water below her.
Knowing her ability to throw the rope to Liri accurately was slim to none and seeing how close she was to the water, she knew she had to focus on her. Trying her arrows again, she fires.
Attack: 18 Damage: 8
Attack: 11 Damage: 7
