Zerxius manages to retrieve his darts from the crumbled pile of vegetation left after the hammer and axe blows from the two dwarves, but he's unable to parse anything about what attacked them.
Bree finds tracks leading back into the darkness, strange tracks as if small trees themselves had uprooted themselves and stalked the party for some time, waiting until the right moment to surge forward and attack.
Nothing remains of the shadowy assailants except a spray of vegetation and a faint smell of rot and decay from where they exploded.
Jane sees both Hogshead and Drax coughing and spitting out globs of blackish-green phelm - their hardy dwarven constitutions working to keep the poison from taking hold inside them.
Summary and Action
We'll call that a long rest completed - I'll assume you have a lazy hour or two around the campfire before setting off for the day.
Hit that long rest button and then tell me what you'd like to do.
You have a trail leading off into the wilderness from the Twig Blights that attacked you and a ravine ahead of you where you believe the last party of adventurers went in but never came out.
Hoghead wipes his chin and nods in agreement. He walks to the front of the group and says "I'll take the lead with my shield but someone who is good at spotting details should come up front with me. My eyes aren't what they used to be."
Several broken pillars jut from the earth where the ravine widens. Two of the pillars stand straight, but most lean atop sloped earth. Others are broken, and several have apparently fallen into the dark depths. A few similar pillars are visible on the opposite side of the ravine.
A sturdy, knotted rope is tied to one of the leaning pillars on this side of the ravine.
Summary and Action
Marching order Hogshead, Bree, Zerxius, Rantel, Drax, Jane - feel free to adjust otherwise I'll assume this is the order
Need an investigation roll from someone with advantage at the top of the stairs

How would you like to proceed?
Looking around. "Well we were kind of hired for a job. We should do it"
Laissez les bons temps rouler
Rantel nods, and prepares to approach the ravine, eyes and ears open.
Hoghead wipes his chin and nods in agreement. He walks to the front of the group and says "I'll take the lead with my shield but someone who is good at spotting details should come up front with me. My eyes aren't what they used to be."
Rantel give me an Investigation roll please - you can roll with advantage if someone is willing to help you out
Hoghead will help with investigation
Zerxius would be towards the middle/back of marching order
Laissez les bons temps rouler
Jane takes up a place at the back of the group, ready to defend against any more surprises from the back.
Bree takes up position behind Hogshead when they head toward the ravine. Since they are on the move again, she has her short bow in hand.
